uvin: Friendly staff, not like the other Mexican bakery on 24th Street, I bought 5 loaves and it was only 12.50 so it was a good price too, next time I will buy tamales they say they are good

Sam Holladay: Even in a cutthroat city like San Francisco, some places are still run with love--with the kind of welcoming kindness you'd expect to see in a small village, not a few steps from a BART station. The owner of La Mejor Bakery is generous and thoughtful, once allowing me to come back hours after buying a pastry to pay for it, since I ran out of cash. One block away is Arizmendi--overpriced, overrated, and perpetually staffed by douchebags. It's a perfect reflection of the New Mission. In La Mejor, the Old Mission lives on.

Bob Brown: 1 dollar for small cookies and 4 for a chicken tamale. I had a tamale with green sauce and it was a big tamale, but lacked on the ratio/amount of chicken inside. Friendly owner and took my trash after eating.

Alexander Martinez: This is a great little bakery. It's conveniently off of the BART 24st exit and is also super close to El Farolito which is a banger. The only downside to this location is that they only accept cash. So be ready, if not you can stop at the liquor store 2 doors down and they have an ATM.

Angela Yee: I come here once in a while, and every time I have, the ladies behind the counter are always so friendly and kind. What's more is that despite that there's no prices written, it seems to not be a worry, because I will order multiple pastries and it will be much cheaper than I expected, like 2 big conchas was $3 last time I went. I have ordered multiple cookies and a pastry or two and still was under $5 too. They only accept cash so that is something to be aware of.

Eugenia Casillas: The best bread in the bay area💯🙏🤤 the service is cordial and friendly! It definitely always makes my day! He traveled an hour just to buy the bread FROM THE BEST BAKERY💕🥖🍞

Edgard Montenegro: Nice employees and friendly atmosphere.

Hailey Jones: We loved everything we got here! The custard pastry was my fave but the strawberry jam roll was a close second.

C. S.: As the name says, this really is the best little bakery. One of the women working behind the counter reminded me of my late grandmother. She was very kind. I was asking what the pig-shaped bread was called and my friend was translating for me. I then jokingly said that I was a sweet pig too and it made her laugh. I asked for a second piece of bread and they told me it was called a worm and I said well hey I am worm coloured. She seemed to be delighted. I really hope she has a wonderful day.Thank you so much for the free banana bread piece! I don't usually like banana bread but this was so delicious! You really are a fantastic baker. I hope to come back soon before I go back to Canada. Thank you thank you thank you.Muchas Gracias!

Jesse Boyes: Legend.

nestor ramirez: A good place to have coffee and pastries and have a chat with friends.

ayush kalani: . Each individual pastry is $3.75, or you can snag a dozen for $45. There's no indoor or outdoor seating, so be prepared to enjoy your treat on the go.But oh, those custard tarts! They're worth every penny and every minute of waiting. The silky smooth custard is simply divine. Rich egg flavor, perfectly balanced sweetness, a slight wobble on top, and piping hot and fresh – it's a textural and taste bud explosion. The crust is the perfect complement – light, crispy, and flaky.Golden Gate Bakery might be a bit unconventional, but it's an experience that shouldn't be missed. Embrace the cash-only adventure, the mystery of its hours, and most importantly, savor those incredible custard tarts. You won't be disappointed!

Ayshwarya Venkataramana: Wanted to really try egg tart and mooncake because I really missed Singapore. Man, this really really hit the spot.I had the BEST pineapple mooncake and the BEST custard tarts ever. The tarts were piping hot from the oven.Just so good. Highly recommend this place.

Liz K: Freshest egg tart ever

Sara Stafford: Recommended dishes Egg Custard Tart …

Liz Donut: The bakery was open during Chinatown Night Market on 4/12/24! The bagging/boxing of the egg tarts was carefully done to make sure the egg tarts weren't damaged and the steam can be released. It was good but pricey at $3.75 each. There were many passerbyers who commented on the high price but that didn't stop people from buying a dozen! My group left the area around 9p and there was a line since around 6p!

Mikaila Smith: FYI they are closed until January 15th

Sara Hoban: 10/10 scharfenberger chocolate cake

Allison Dermont: Hidden gem in Hayes Valley! Delicious cakes and the girl who works there was very helpful.

Marco Montalto Monella: I liked the macaroons from this shop. They were fresh, crispy, and chewy, with a variety of flavors to choose from 🍬The best part was the happy hour deal, where you can get 50% off on all macaroons from 5pm to 6pm every day. That's a great offer! The location was also convenient, near Hayes and close to many other shops 🚶🏻‍♂️This place is worth a try for macaroon lovers. As the joke goes, "Quelle est la différence entre un bonbon et un gâteau? Le bonbon est sucré, le gâteau est sucrant" 🇫🇷

Christiaan Khurana: The best birthday cake I’ve ever had! Perfect buttercream! Not too sweet, great texture, nice and moist dough but not too heavy, so just perfect!

Natalie: The mini cupcakes are my go-to for work treats for my team and I snag a few extra for the parking attendants, they’re a hit with everybody! The fruit tarts, croissants and cookies are very delicious also, as is the quiche!Be mindful of the small space and all the signs instructing people to stay outside to wait in line until they are called in. Tons of entitlement leads to certain people just walking in and being totally oblivious to the practices set by the bakery.Sign up for their rewards, you could get first dibs on free items with purchase!

Colleen Coolish: The baked goods are amazing.Vegetarian options: Only one type of quiche had meat. All other items are vegetarian.Dietary restrictions: Most of their bread is vegan.Wheelchair accessibility: First floor. No stairs

José Luis Escuer Ibarz: The best bakery in the neighborhood. I'm walking quietly from 29th to buy bread and their excellent cookies.

Matt Fukuda: Very cute store.

Michele Ryba: Worth visiting the Ferry Building just for Miette alone! They have baked goods and candies plus currently have Easter goodies out

Anne Margaret White: Super fun stop while visiting the Ferry Building. We picked a few packaged candies because they looked so cute and also got a few macarons. Very interesting that they make all the same cookie and just change the filling. All our flavors were good, but didn't stand apart from each other as much as I was used to. Super cute pink bag made carrying our treats back that much more fun!

Janie B-C: This place has a nice selection cookies and sweets. It's a very cute and charming place and the staff was very friendly.

Rita Braun: I grew up within spitting distance of Jewish and Italian bakeries. So as an experienced lover of Stella-style treats, if you haven’t been to Stella’s Pastry, I say this: Do go as soon as you can.Her baked treats will delight you. And her americano ranks in the top 2% of all sipped, considered, and scored. If you love americanos, you know what I’m talking about.

Ilaria Prescott: A bakery that knows how to surprise you deserves 5 stars. There are many amazing bakeries in this city, and I enjoy a lot of them. But for me, Stella Bakery is a place where I feel at home with real Italian flavor in every pastry.Their cannoli and tiramisu taste truly authentic, and I also love their Fedora cake slice. The staff is always smiling and friendly. The cafe space is small, but if you can snag an outdoor seat when the weather is nice, it's one of the most relaxing experiences. I also love their cappuccinos.Stella stands out for capturing the genuine Italian essence in their baked goods and providing a warm, welcoming atmosphere. It's a stellar bakery that lives up to its name.

Krishin Asnani: Friendliest service from Marianna, the soul of this place. It’s a big deal to choose the right establishment to become a regular and predictable to the right type of staff; This place knows I like my double cappuccino frothy in their smaller, curvy, stylish cup; their oven fresh almond crusted biscotti and apple turnover is to die for; Great eye candy of colorful cookies behind glass reminds me of paintings by Wayne Thibeaux.

Barmak Heshmat: This is really the best Italian bakery i have seen in bay area. So just to remind myself for the next time. I recommend the ones with green tick mark and don't recommend the ones with red cross. The cookie with double jelly is the best and half chocoletted hazelnut biscuits.

Hawra Mohammed: Good.but why is the tiramisu frozen

Asi Afuhaamango: Quick service. Ordered a cake here for my daughter’s birthday. Cake was affordable and the frosting is great. Cake wasn’t too sweet or dense. Just all around perfect. The kids were a little picky but next time I know to order either vanilla or chocolate but for parties the other flavors available are best for them. Their breads are also great. I want to come back here and order things from here again.

Oscar Valtierra: All of their bakery items are delicious, started going when I 1sr discovered them on 24th n later when they opened in West PortalParking: Just need to wait a little for others to pull out.Kid-friendliness: School is close by n I see plenty of moms with their kidsWheelchair accessibility: Not sure but I've seen a few

Corrie Galvan: Good pan & kind customer service. We'll be back next time we're in the neighborhood.

Farshad P: Pretty good old school panaderia in the mission with freshly baked, not too sweet conchas and cuernitos with other classics. The prices are extremely fair, and everything seemed to be very authentic. They didn’t have any coffee when I went. However the experience overall was great and the guy working there was super friendly! Would definitely go back.

Peter Farejowicz: Neighbor Bakehouse has long been a Dogpatch icon but I finally got to try it and can’t wait to go back already. The selection of yummy pastries here is rather large so whether you’re looking for sweet or savory they have you covered. The inside of the shop is small with all seating being outside in the patio area. They have a small coffee bar to the left and a couple racks of pastries sorted by sweet and savory. Things do tend to run out so go early for the best variety.I tried two things on my visit the banana bostock the pistachio blackberry croissant. While the croissant was good the banana one definitely was the winner. They have a lot of other specialty options which I didn’t try that I want to on my next visit like the strawberry matcha one.For parking, you can grab some nearby on the street so if you’re ever in Dogpatch drop by!

Esther Park: The ginger pull apart is heaven

Scott Lee: , to the friendliest staff, it’s always a pleasure to be there on weekends to get my baked good fix. Ham + cheese croissant and mushroom tart. My favorites!Pro-tip: Starting at 9am, you can order from their online platform so you can skip the long lines and pick up from the window. It’s saved me tons of time!

Mitchell Hanson: . For the one on the left, the outside was caramelized with granulated sugar and bread itself was extremely soft and layered. The cream custard inside was sweet, moist, and solid enough not to drip everywhere. The other flakey breaded dessert with powdered sugar had the same custard which was lovely. Again, not tax, all cash.I would invite anyone who is visiting the area looking for great bakes or someone looking to get someone else a baked gift to try this place!

Jorge Perez: Great Pan dulce!

Isrrael Martínez: Delicious bread

Naea Naea: It's very tasty Mexican bread, BUT it's pricy. They offer cinnamon coffee, which will remind you of cafe de olla....

Erika Galavis: My son and I stopped by to get some Conchas and polvorones. Los panes were freshly made and they were good. The prices are not on display, I was surprised to pay $2 for each pan. I can get the same quality of pan few bakeries down the street for cheaper.

dreamynation: I came by this place due to the high amount of great reviews. The bakery I got in the photo attached did not disappoint. I was thinking about it all day after I had it. One of the best bakery no wonder why this place is so popular. I don't have much to say about their other items since I didn't try it, but I'd retuen to just try this one again!

James Leahy: Food is all 1st rate.Parking is a minefield of difficult to read signs. Got two parking tickets within 4 minutes with our two visits. It’s as if parking police are waiting in hiding for you to stop and pounce. We spent $180 on two tickets. We’ll never stop here again. Instead, we’ll drop someone off.Recommendation: don’t even stop in a red or yellow area to drop someone off or you’ll get pounced on by parking zealots who write tickets faster than you can roll your window down.

Mitch Mitchell: Les Gourmands is a surprisingly good for a neighborhood bakery! I try to avoid baked goods, but every so often, find that I just cant resist one of their pastries or sandwich specials.
