uvin: Friendly staff, not like the other Mexican bakery on 24th Street, I bought 5 loaves and it was only 12.50 so it was a good price too, next time I will buy tamales they say they are good

Sam Holladay: Even in a cutthroat city like San Francisco, some places are still run with love--with the kind of welcoming kindness you'd expect to see in a small village, not a few steps from a BART station. The owner of La Mejor Bakery is generous and thoughtful, once allowing me to come back hours after buying a pastry to pay for it, since I ran out of cash. One block away is Arizmendi--overpriced, overrated, and perpetually staffed by douchebags. It's a perfect reflection of the New Mission. In La Mejor, the Old Mission lives on.

Bob Brown: 1 dollar for small cookies and 4 for a chicken tamale. I had a tamale with green sauce and it was a big tamale, but lacked on the ratio/amount of chicken inside. Friendly owner and took my trash after eating.

Alexander Martinez: This is a great little bakery. It's conveniently off of the BART 24st exit and is also super close to El Farolito which is a banger. The only downside to this location is that they only accept cash. So be ready, if not you can stop at the liquor store 2 doors down and they have an ATM.

Angela Yee: I come here once in a while, and every time I have, the ladies behind the counter are always so friendly and kind. What's more is that despite that there's no prices written, it seems to not be a worry, because I will order multiple pastries and it will be much cheaper than I expected, like 2 big conchas was $3 last time I went. I have ordered multiple cookies and a pastry or two and still was under $5 too. They only accept cash so that is something to be aware of.

Eugenia Casillas: The best bread in the bay area💯🙏🤤 the service is cordial and friendly! It definitely always makes my day! He traveled an hour just to buy the bread FROM THE BEST BAKERY💕🥖🍞

Edgard Montenegro: Nice employees and friendly atmosphere.

Hailey Jones: We loved everything we got here! The custard pastry was my fave but the strawberry jam roll was a close second.

C. S.: As the name says, this really is the best little bakery. One of the women working behind the counter reminded me of my late grandmother. She was very kind. I was asking what the pig-shaped bread was called and my friend was translating for me. I then jokingly said that I was a sweet pig too and it made her laugh. I asked for a second piece of bread and they told me it was called a worm and I said well hey I am worm coloured. She seemed to be delighted. I really hope she has a wonderful day.Thank you so much for the free banana bread piece! I don't usually like banana bread but this was so delicious! You really are a fantastic baker. I hope to come back soon before I go back to Canada. Thank you thank you thank you.Muchas Gracias!

Jesse Boyes: Legend.

nestor ramirez: A good place to have coffee and pastries and have a chat with friends.

Rita Braun: I grew up within spitting distance of Jewish and Italian bakeries. So as an experienced lover of Stella-style treats, if you haven’t been to Stella’s Pastry, I say this: Do go as soon as you can.Her baked treats will delight you. And her americano ranks in the top 2% of all sipped, considered, and scored. If you love americanos, you know what I’m talking about.

Ilaria Prescott: A bakery that knows how to surprise you deserves 5 stars. There are many amazing bakeries in this city, and I enjoy a lot of them. But for me, Stella Bakery is a place where I feel at home with real Italian flavor in every pastry.Their cannoli and tiramisu taste truly authentic, and I also love their Fedora cake slice. The staff is always smiling and friendly. The cafe space is small, but if you can snag an outdoor seat when the weather is nice, it's one of the most relaxing experiences. I also love their cappuccinos.Stella stands out for capturing the genuine Italian essence in their baked goods and providing a warm, welcoming atmosphere. It's a stellar bakery that lives up to its name.

Krishin Asnani: Friendliest service from Marianna, the soul of this place. It’s a big deal to choose the right establishment to become a regular and predictable to the right type of staff; This place knows I like my double cappuccino frothy in their smaller, curvy, stylish cup; their oven fresh almond crusted biscotti and apple turnover is to die for; Great eye candy of colorful cookies behind glass reminds me of paintings by Wayne Thibeaux.

Barmak Heshmat: This is really the best Italian bakery i have seen in bay area. So just to remind myself for the next time. I recommend the ones with green tick mark and don't recommend the ones with red cross. The cookie with double jelly is the best and half chocoletted hazelnut biscuits.

Hawra Mohammed: Good.but why is the tiramisu frozen

ayush kalani: . Each individual pastry is $3.75, or you can snag a dozen for $45. There's no indoor or outdoor seating, so be prepared to enjoy your treat on the go.But oh, those custard tarts! They're worth every penny and every minute of waiting. The silky smooth custard is simply divine. Rich egg flavor, perfectly balanced sweetness, a slight wobble on top, and piping hot and fresh – it's a textural and taste bud explosion. The crust is the perfect complement – light, crispy, and flaky.Golden Gate Bakery might be a bit unconventional, but it's an experience that shouldn't be missed. Embrace the cash-only adventure, the mystery of its hours, and most importantly, savor those incredible custard tarts. You won't be disappointed!

Ayshwarya Venkataramana: Wanted to really try egg tart and mooncake because I really missed Singapore. Man, this really really hit the spot.I had the BEST pineapple mooncake and the BEST custard tarts ever. The tarts were piping hot from the oven.Just so good. Highly recommend this place.

Liz K: Freshest egg tart ever

Sara Stafford: Recommended dishes Egg Custard Tart …

Liz Donut: The bakery was open during Chinatown Night Market on 4/12/24! The bagging/boxing of the egg tarts was carefully done to make sure the egg tarts weren't damaged and the steam can be released. It was good but pricey at $3.75 each. There were many passerbyers who commented on the high price but that didn't stop people from buying a dozen! My group left the area around 9p and there was a line since around 6p!

Carolina Quesada: Place that sells sweet things, especially macarons of different tastes, as you can see in the photos. They are gluten free, and after 4pm they reduce them to 50%! It's worth trying!

Matt Fukuda: Very cute store.

Michele Ryba: Worth visiting the Ferry Building just for Miette alone! They have baked goods and candies plus currently have Easter goodies out

amy collins: Sharfenberger Chocolate Torte

Prasad Nair: Good selecting of sweet treats

Christopher McCleary: .

Kishori De: Rose macaroon 💜

Joy Smith: .Highly recommend

Anne Margaret White: Super fun stop while visiting the Ferry Building. We picked a few packaged candies because they looked so cute and also got a few macarons. Very interesting that they make all the same cookie and just change the filling. All our flavors were good, but didn't stand apart from each other as much as I was used to. Super cute pink bag made carrying our treats back that much more fun!

Janie B-C: This place has a nice selection cookies and sweets. It's a very cute and charming place and the staff was very friendly.

starry1219 R: Delicious pastries!

Regine: Best place to find small sugary gifts for friends and family. Cashiers always have a good attitude and are very helpful. Macarons are very yummy and highly recommended.

dreamynation: I came by this place due to the high amount of great reviews. The bakery I got in the photo attached did not disappoint. I was thinking about it all day after I had it. One of the best bakery no wonder why this place is so popular. I don't have much to say about their other items since I didn't try it, but I'd retuen to just try this one again!

James Leahy: Food is all 1st rate.Parking is a minefield of difficult to read signs. Got two parking tickets within 4 minutes with our two visits. It’s as if parking police are waiting in hiding for you to stop and pounce. We spent $180 on two tickets. We’ll never stop here again. Instead, we’ll drop someone off.Recommendation: don’t even stop in a red or yellow area to drop someone off or you’ll get pounced on by parking zealots who write tickets faster than you can roll your window down.

Mitch Mitchell: I don't often allow myself desserts, but OMG these macrons are good! I bought a small assortment for a photo shoot I was doing, and allowed myself to try on after I'd finished taking photos. It was about as perfect as a macaron can get. tender, slightly chew texture inside with flavorful creamy filling and a just slightly crunchy outside. They not only taste great, but look stunning with the light dusting of sugar sparkles. I highly recommend these when you want a sophisticated dessert that won't weigh you down. They go great with after dinner coffee or ice cream.

Courtney DiBiase: told me that they ship the ingredients from France and bake them in house. The shop is very aesthetically pleasing as well, such good vibes. I will definitely be back!

Emily Poplawski: All the flavors that I’ve had are delicious and love how they change their menu for the seasons including an actual gold dipped macaroon for the Warriors Championship and Blueberry Cheesecake for summer. Makes for a great gift or treat to bring into the office. I’ve also tried most of the macaroon shops in the Bay Area and Chantal Guillon is the best by far!

Nicolas Bustamante: The best macarons in town!

Blakk Flame: Is beautiful!!

Vincent Sahney: Pricey but worth it, nice staff also.

Brian Woodgate: These macarons are perfection. Absolutely delicious and well crafted. A perfect gift

Faith: Best macarons in SF!

Robert Evans: with the sample pack of macarons we gave out for the luncheon. And to the employee that helped me figure out how to tie a bow without ruining the cake, thank you a ton! With your inspiration, I was able to get the macaron tower put together with a princess cake on top!

Claire Yang: I love this place so much, it’s pretty and the employee working today at around closing was really nice, she gave me a free macaron

Cali N: So many choices for easy gift options

Miss Parker: After completely cutting sugar out of my life for an entire month, as my birthday approached I asked myself what would be the one thing worth breaking my sugar fast for. The answer was Chantal Guillon. I drove all the way from the Eastbay just to pick up my birthday macarons. Whether for two cookies, six cookies or a dozen, I would do it again and again. Each cookie is a work of art. Exceptional quality and delighful flavors will keep you coming back, and the super friendly staff will make you feel welcome. Every purchase is prepared and presented with care and flare. I can't say enough great things about this little shop.

Alexander Walczak: Cute macarons and kind staff. Pricey.

Natalie: The mini cupcakes are my go-to for work treats for my team and I snag a few extra for the parking attendants, they’re a hit with everybody! The fruit tarts, croissants and cookies are very delicious also, as is the quiche!Be mindful of the small space and all the signs instructing people to stay outside to wait in line until they are called in. Tons of entitlement leads to certain people just walking in and being totally oblivious to the practices set by the bakery.Sign up for their rewards, you could get first dibs on free items with purchase!

Colleen Coolish: The baked goods are amazing.Vegetarian options: Only one type of quiche had meat. All other items are vegetarian.Dietary restrictions: Most of their bread is vegan.Wheelchair accessibility: First floor. No stairs

José Luis Escuer Ibarz: The best bakery in the neighborhood. I'm walking quietly from 29th to buy bread and their excellent cookies.

Adrian Pelin: Sonya’s cake and bread are just the best!

James Mann: Someone there is a classically trained pastry chef! The chocolate genoise cake was excellent- perfectly moist and its structure was phenomenal. The whipped cream frosting had the right amount of sweetness and the berries were fresh and tart!Bien, très bien.

Michael Reitman: I love whole cakes! A great neighborhood spot. Good coffee, and all the pastries including the cakes are awesome.

Mariko C: The cake quality is 10/10- they make high end Japanese bakery style cakes that you can also get by the slice. The espresso drinks are perfect— as good as when you order from Four Barrel! The pastries are delicious, my very small complaint is that I just wish they were 20% bigger given how high the prices are. Overall it is a beautiful and well run bakery.

Brian Jones: Got a chocolate birthday cake here the other day and it was delicious. Not too sweet. Very chocolatey. I dispise how every bakery I go to all have the same thing ....marzipan and tarimitsu..... this place had good old fashioned well crafted cakes at very reasonable prices. Please support this business. They deserve your patronage.UpdateStill the best bakery in town as far as Im concerned. Also you can pick up a gift while getting your Birthday Cake. They also have a doxen assorted wonderful, delicious , scrumptious delightful cookies for 10 dollars now.If ithe goes up by the time you see this review it's because of Bidenomics but I'll guarentee it will still be the best deal in the USA.As a native San Franciscan i can honestly say this place reminds me of the good old days before tech money and yuppies ruined it.They have the style and attitude that is reminiscent of authentic genuine old school San Francisco.A very lovely experience indeed.

Winfield Raj: Unusually Amazing!!

Bubbley Singh: Really good sweets

Can Goksal: Very cute bakery, cozy atmosphere, and delicious sweets.

natalia alayza: When I moved to the US I remember missing having a go-to bakery, that bakery that makes you feel like home, always has top notch pastries and savories that will satisfy all your cravings. I miss all of that until I found Lotta’s.

Jennifer Lee: Visited there not disappointed with the atmosphere. Can’t judge the food

Andy vague: Lovely place. I even bought a jacket

CAROLYN CAMPBELL: and we ordered a generous slice of lemon Bundt which was stunning. I’ve never had a lemon pound cake that has more lemon flavor than this one. It's sweet and sour, dense and moist - utterly delicious.

S Paul: For my San Francisco City Hall wedding I decided to Google bakeries near by city hall and the hotel we were staying at for the rest of the weekend. I wanted everything to be within a good distance for the sake of time.I found Lotta’s bakery from that search. I called to get information concerning their availability on my special day. I was very pleased after speaking with Earl, the owner of the bakery. He assured me that he could make a nice “wedding” cake and it would taste great.Let me say… HE DID NOT DISAPPOINT! It is the best money I have ever spent on a cake. Everyone of our guests as well as myself and my husband could not get enough of that cake. It was de -“freakin”-licious!!!! It’s was so darn moist and fluffy with hints of vanilla and coconut. The buttercream icing, like the cake was so damn good. It was perfectly sweet, not overly sweet in anyway which proved to very dangerous but o well it was worth every calorie. Btw it was a vanilla/white 8” white cake with butter cream icing, a very beautiful cake!I am a little late writing this review but I have already called Earl at Lotta’s bakery in San Francisco to thank him for adding this special layer of greatness to our special day! He is so kind and I cannot say enough about how delicious my cake was. Do yourself a favor and place an order for whatever he bakes because I have no doubt that it has to be the best you have ever had.

Diana: Very interesting presentation and design of cakes. Delicious! Recommended!

Doug Thrailkill: . Immediately fell in love with Earl's Blackstrap molasses Ginger Bread. So happy to discover that he is still in business. I just moved back to San Francisco after being away for nine years. Good to have a high quality local bakery near by. There are so many things that I like and have missed. They will be seeing me on a regular basis.2. Stopped by and got some of Earl's Blackstrap molasses Ginger Bread again yesterday and had a nice talk with him too.
