An Nguyen: I really like this place. It's a good Judo class where my children can practice self-defense and improve their health.
Lyly Nguyen: for all ages: toddlers from 3 yrs old to seniors 60 yrs old. The instructors here are very knowledgeable and patient in teaching Judo. They also can teach one on one for very little toddlers as well as autism kids. My kids are really enjoy training Judo here. I would recommend you this Academy for workout and self defense training.
Chih-Yi Hsieh: there if they are interested.
Jannette: My brother trains here and he has learned so much from his sensei. He always likes to show me all the different things he learns and it’s nice to see his enthusiasm for learning new judo techniques.
Quang Huynh: Great classes for all ages-students. Students gain more workout and confident.
Justine Mukai: Absolutely love the class! Both my kids go here and Sensei My is super good with the little kids. She keeps the class entertaining and keeps the kids always on their feet with the judo moves.
Quanh Le: Friendly place. Great Master and mind.
Jowan: SJJA is local, safe, and incredibly family-friendly!The dojo is a clean and positive environment for aspiring students. The children always have fun as they learn together and the instructors are all very kind and supportive!Classes are conveniently around the late afternoon and early evening hours and are separated by age groups. Even so, they are open and accepting of all ages that wish to learn or even continue learning judo!Whether one chooses to enroll for self defense, as an enrichment activity, or to pursue the martial art as a serious competitive sport — the SJJA is a wonderful place to start!
anh dang: Great Judo class for kids!!!
Mustafa Khan: Welcome to the best and greatest Judo Academy in the bay area. I have trained at the San Jose Judo Academy, and I couldn’t be happier with the experience. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by Sensei My and a welcoming environment. The instructors are highly skilled and have a genuine passion for teaching judo. They focus not only on developing technical skills but also on instilling important values such as discipline, respect, and perseverance. The facility is clean, well-maintained, and equipped with all the necessary gear. The class sizes are perfect, allowing for personalized attention . I’ve seen tremendous improvement in my Judo abilities, confidence and physical fitness since joining. I have trained at other Judo Clubs in the bay area but I found San Jose Academy to be the best. Sensei My and her team of instructors are simply the best. What sets San Jose Judo Academy apart is their inclusive approach. They cater to all age groups and skill levels, making it a great place for beginners and advanced practitioners alike. The community here is amazing. Overall, San Jose Judo Academy provides an excellent learning environment that promotes personal growth and physical fitness. I highly recommend this academy to anyone looking to learn judo in a positive and nurturing setting.
Yen Nguyen: My sons love Judo class. The class is fun and enjoyable. The instructor Thuymi is wonderful. We love her dedication and enthusiasm.
Steven Luong: can think I am as a "wife test", it sounds funny and I am kind of a person who you can trust my review as willing to "tell the truth".This is what I have reviewed on Yelp and I hope my review can help someone who is having the same situation as I am and will get much better.==========I have an "Autism" boy, he is a handful of energetic. We decided to make him to join in swimming classes and Karate/ Martial Arts classes
Michael Luo: Sensei Mi Nguyen is very welcoming and has made SJJA a superb place for those looking to start judo or learning to defend themselves. This is also one of the few places I would encourage my mother and girlfriend to attend.
Lin and Olivia: My daughter started her Judo lessons at San Jose Judo Academy since the beginning of this year and she loves her Sensei! It’s a great place to learn and they truly care about the well being of their students. I cannot thank Sensei and her team for teaching and making this a fun experience for my daughter. I highly recommend this academy to all parents in the Bay Area!
Cristina Miramontes: My son is 3 and shy around other kids but ever since we joined SJJA he has been wanting to explore and make new friends. Sensei My has been patient and supportive throughout my son's training. He's been learning how to do self defense as well as learning how to listen more. Judo has helped him exercise a lot more as well as well as burn out energy which is what a toddler needs. Sensei My dedicates her time with my shy little one as he transitions into becoming an outgoing person who is not afraid to say hello any more. (:
Nhu Vo: San Jose Judo Academy offers a safe and friendly environment for individuals of all ages to practice and enjoy martial arts. My kids really love to practice Judo thanks to our dedicated sensei.
Duy: is a good Judo dojo in San Jose to practice Judo Randori
Jeffrey Nguyen: Even though I have not gone back for 2 years, I still remember the amazing training sessions she holds! Sensei My and her dojo was like a second home to me and her clear communication, empathy, and role modeling create a supportive environment where students thrive. Highly recommend for striving martial artists and those who already have a ton of experience!!

Zain Jaffer: I’ve been training here under Corwin and Chuck since September 2023. I originally came to supplement my BJJ but then fell in love with Judo as its own art form and sport. My initial hesitation with starting Judo was the fear of getting injured as I’ve already got my fair share of chronic injuries through MMA and I’m only getting older.Yet I haven’t been injured a single time here as they put so much emphasis on safety and have dedicated adult classes on Monday & Wednesday which are more focused on technique and set-ups which means you can train at a lighter pace if you’re concerned about injuries. My favorite part of the Monday & Wednesday class is at the end when we get to practice controlled throws on each other on a huge crash pad - it feels like magic when you’re thrown effortlessly through a well-executed judo move and it’s a lot of fun landing on the crash pad too!Of course, they do have more intense classes on Tuesday and Thursday if you want to spar or train alongside active competitors. They have students that are at a world-class level here which humbles me every time I train.
Vasant Sai: . Judo was also a key driver for instilling tremendous self-confidence in my kid.Chuck and CJ Judo are highly recommended for kids & adults.
dogs love boys heros: Nice place to practice judo
Suzie Williams: CJ Judo is top notch. Chuck is awesome with the kids and our kids stay engaged and challenged while having a ton of fun. My kids always walk out happier than when they arrive and that’s a pretty great sign CJ Judo is doing a great job along with teaching how to work hard, have fun, and not only be a great athlete, but a great human treating others with respect.
Liam gaming: Great place for judo training!
Yan Tarpe: Just great
tickle4me2day: My family visited Chuck Jefferson Judo Thursday. We live in Nevada and travel around to other Dojos as we have no Dojo where we live. Chuck is an amazing instructor. He took time with my 5 kids and helped them improve on throws and Newaza. My kids compete a lot and Chuck was able to adjust his lessons to each of my child's needs. His staff was also amazing. They also helped and worked with my kids. No matter what level judo you need, from beginning to advanced competition, you will find it here. I wish I lived in San Jose as I would happily call his dojo my home.
Matthew Taylor: Best judo dojo for kids and adults in Silicon Valley. Chuck and the other sensei are extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and instructive. They are great with kids and adults alike.

John K: This is one of the best judo dojos I've trained at and one of the best schools in the bay. While Nakano sensei's professional resume speaks for itself, poficiency in the sport doesn't always lead to a successful gym. What really makes this dojo special is his ability to explain and demonstrate the skills that allowed him to excel at the sport to others. As a recreational gym, I'd say most his success comes from the fact that he is personable and empathetic. He takes the time to understand his student's backgrounds so that he is able to teach to people from all walks of life. This mindset has been passed on to his students creating an atmosphere centered around mutual improvement; you will regularly see higher belts watching over and practicing with newer judoka to make sure they build good habits and have a good time. That's not to say that it's only a place for recreational players, at the time of this post there are at least two junior judoka who represent the U.S. internationally training here. As well as several collegiate athletes who stop by to train when they are in town.No matter what your goals for the sport are, if you enjoy playing or are interested in learning judo then this dojo welcomes you.
Avyay Panchapakesan: Nakano Judo Academy is an excellent dojo and community. I started my Judo journey here, after years of training in other martial arts. This has been one of the most welcoming and balanced groups I have ever trained with. Total beginners train alongside strong competitors, but it is always a positive and friendly environment. Nakano Sensei teaches for all kinds of people, whether they are interested in high-level competition, technical knowledge, or general ability for a lifetime.
wilson hu: My two kids have been going to Nakano for the last couple of years and they’ve had a wonderful experience. Shintaro’s teaching is first rate – he connects well with kids and doesn’t dumb down the instruction for them, always heavily emphasizing the little details that make a technique work. I did judo for several years before and I still learn a lot from watching his children’s classes. In addition, there are a number of kids here who take competitive judo seriously, which means there is no shortage of great practice partners. That said, it’s still a very welcoming environment for newcomers and experienced judoka alike. I haven’t seen much of the adult classes, but I have noticed that a lot of high-level competitors make their way through the dojo. As such, I suspect it’s a great spot for adults as well. So whether you’re a beginner or seasoned competitor, Nakano is an excellent place to learn and train.
Justin C.: and feel healthy. The sensei is the nicest most welcoming person and you'll never feel out of place in the dojo even if you're a complete beginner
Mariah Nogami: Best dojo
R S: Great judo here. More importantly a very positive environment and Sensai is a great role model. I’ve seen my child develop strength, coordination, confidence, and deep friendships. Highly recommended.
Dennis Yu: I spent a year learning here and it was such an amazing experience. The community is welcoming, enthusiastic, and great to work with. Nakano Sensei is such an incredible teacher and coach, breaking down complex movements into methodical step by step exercises to practice making every movement perfect. 10/10 -- glad I chose to expand my combat sport experience here
Anabella Zuluaga: Awesome academy! My son went the first time with no expectations and now he wants to go every day!The sensei is from Japan, he has high experience including international competitions. You can see discipline, respect and real training for children and adults there. It's very affordable!
Fidel: Good place to keep kids active, healthy and away from bad habits.
Ashoka McCormick: Positive:ProfessionalismBest judo school in Bay Area!
David Monteverde: This dojo is very well run, and has a warm and friendly atmosphere. I can't praise Nakano sensei enough for his dedication to his students, the results being evident in tournaments, as well as in the camaraderie that can be felt in daily practice. I've trained in several dojos in the US and Japan, and I really like the balance between traditional old-style judo and modern contest-oriented judo that Nakano sensei has adopted. You can tell that the techniques he teaches are well-grounded in practical experience, and that the technical expertise goes very deep. This school is a real gem in Northern California!

Luke Jones: Excellent BJJ gym. Was in town for work and was able to hit 3 days of no gi. I have next to none no gi experience, and professor Trevor and all the people at the gym were amazing. Awesome instruction and great people. Very welcoming. Can’t recommend it enough!
Austin Toloza: Heroes Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is an absolute gem in the world of martial arts! Situated in the heart, this dojo is not just a place to learn, but a community that welcomes you with open arms. As a newbie stepping onto the mats for the first time, I was met with nothing but encouragement and patience. Gumby and Eastside were awesome. The instructors here are top-notch, possessing a depth of knowledge that's truly inspiring. They take the time to ensure each student, regardless of experience, feels valued and understood. Beyond the technical skills, the camaraderie and team spirit within Heroes BJJ is palpable. Each session not only equips you with new moves but also instills discipline, resilience, and respect for the art. If you're considering diving into Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, there’s no better place than Heroes BJJ to begin your journey. Oss!
Samson Hayilu: Great gym , but even better are the people. Gumby has cultivated a great jiu jitsu community from the ground up. Instructors are knowledgeable and generous with their time. What is wonderful as well, I believe Gumby is one of the first people to really develop a fundamentals curriculum that continuously rotates allowing beginners to jump in whenever. I live an hour away and still make it a point to drop in every blue moon to see my friends and train at Heroes.
Chinook Super Truck: I want to give this gym a 5 star review! I attend here several days a week. The reason why I joined this academy is because they’re very welcoming, the coaches are all very helpful, the mats are very clean, and especially because there is no ego here!!
Jake P: Was referred by an acquaintance.
Joe Brunello: Been going for about a year now. Great instructors.

david lee: My daughter Avery loves it here. The staff and the kids are really nice and friendly. Guerrilla makes it a fun and competitive place to train
Josh Munchel: Guerrilla has now been our Jiu-jitsu Academy for a little over two years. Matt and his team of coaches are super great with the kids and create a great learning environment for all ages.
Jeff Rosas: My Granddaughter has been trainingHere for 5 months, its going well shes meeting new friends, The facility is always clean. I'm very impressed with the trainers on how they try to give each person or kids their attention, They are always there to answer any questions at any given time that you may have No matter what the situation is Whether it's billing scheduling 1 on 1 training.
Steve Sun: We are a family with four generations of Judo/Jiu-Jitsu practitioners. At age three this was a great place for my son to begin his journey! Learning discipline and focus all while having fun! #bossbubba10
Cherylle Marsala: My cousin, nieces and kids train here and they all love it. My nieces and kids have been coming here since they were 3-4 years old. It’s been awesome to watch them progress. The coaches are really great at helping them learn in a way that is easy for them to comprehend. At first they were all shy but as they practiced and attended more classes their confidence grew along with their skillset. They have also learned how to incorporate things they have learned in other things that they do, which is amazing. i.e. my daughter does “ukemi” when she falls when she is playing soccer so she doesn’t hurt her head/back. The kids get excited and motivated each time the level up and we have made amazing friends here.
Nicholas Gudgeon: at other schools but Guerilla often has multiple black belts teaching the kids classes. Big props to the entire Guerilla team and the program they've created and maintained for over a decade. Highly recommend.
Getsemani Murcio: Great place for kids to learn how to protect themselves!
Lory S Obenza: My kids have been students here since 2015 and it’s been rewarding to see my kids’ growth and maturity thru the meticulous instruction and discipline of the academy. We will continue to build our JiuJitsu journey with Guerrilla Jiu Jitsu Academy.
Gino De Bernardo: I am grateful of the experience my children have had at this jiujitsu academy over the past year. From day one, the instructors displayed an incredible level of expertise and patience, ensuring a safe and encouraging environment for learning. My children’s confidence and resilience have soared, thanks to the personalized attention and tailored instruction they receive. The academy's focus on discipline and respect has been instrumental in shaping not only their jiujitsu skills but also important life values. The facility is clean, well-maintained, and equipped with top-notch instructors. I can't recommend this academy enough for any parent looking to provide their child with an exceptional jiujitsu education and a supportive community. We’ve enjoyed our experience so much that we had a birthday party here and I have started with the adult fundamental classes. 5 Stars
Hoa .L: Friendly people talented instructors. It's a lifestyle 5 years commitment at least 4 results.Would love to come back and play 4 free with Jose.
J W: Clean Gym, deep level of skill, friendly atmosphere.
FaeTea: Excellent setup and instruction. It was my first time and it was immediately welcoming and comfortable and challenging in the best way. I am looking forward to continuing here. Strongly recommend!
Arshia: Awesome Coaches!!👍
Vimal Balu: Fantastic.. a dope place to learn jiu jitsu. The teaching, the rolling, the community are all caliber. The facility is clean and well maintained. It is a friendly environment for those who are new to martial arts/combat sports. Its rare a sight at other gyms when you see upper belts jump in and immediately orient and help new students, but this not the case at Guerilla San Jose. From when I started, I have had upper belts offer their time, energy, and knowledge to improve my jiu jitsu. They recently updated their mats with judo floors so there is a springiness to them. It is very friendly for your back and physical longevity.Coach Matt and Chris and the other coaches are world class instructors and more importantly keep jiu jitsu fun and fresh for all speeds, all competitor levels, and all ages too. They teach everyone from 3 year olds to 60 year olds. That is remarkable. It's never stale and there's always a new take on different materials. At open mats, other athletes and members from other gyms are allowed to train. This is an important.Challenge yourself, have fun, and be around a caliber group of individuals at Guerilla San Jose.

Eric P: These guys are great. My son is in the beginners class for kids and is having the best time with it. We were apprehensive at first, but they offered two free lessons on a trial basis to see how it goes. The teachers are good with the kids, giving a great balance of fun and instruction. One of their first lessons they teach to rank up is the idea that "fighting is wrong", and they focus on defending yourself to get away rather than attacking. All in all a great place for children to learn about defense and respect.
Robert Valencia: We love kings martial arts. They helped him become more confident respectful and he has made new friends.
Vasudevan Nadathur: , making eye contact while speaking/spoken-to and listen to parents and teachers. Ms. Kim and Master Bradley take the time to address any questions/concerns. Overall, excellent place for kids to learn Tae Kwon Do.
harsimran kaur Banwait: Great academy, my son loves going here and learning from Mr. Bradley! My son is much more disciplined and he has so much fun every time he goes. Definitely recommend this place! They host yearly tournaments, and they are a lot of fun for everyone.
Veronica Alva: Our family is so thankful for King’s Martial Arts Academy. We appreciate how safe this class is for our family, my kids attending this class always come home encourage and challenge to do their best. Thank you
Eugene Orlovsky: My son, 5 years old has attended Kings Martial Arts Academy for the last few months. Not only has he learned the basics punches and kicks, he has become noticeably more respectful which is one great benefit of this program. Master Bradley is an effective instructor and has a way of connecting with children. In addition this is not pay to pass, the children at all levels must know what they are doing to move on in belts. Not all kids pass, you must do additional practice and preparation to master the skills for test day, which is one a month until red levels belt.
vaibhav lidbide: My 6 year old kid started going here few weeks back and he just loves it. He is full of energy and it gets channelized perfectly in this class. He learns new techniques as well as learns a lot of discipline as well. We will definitely recommend this class to all the kids.
Carlos Canela: Being somewhat skeptical of finding a great place for my girls to practice Taekwon do, the staff here made us feel so comfortable and welcomed. Bradley is awesome. I'd recommend 100%. Thank you
Linda: All three of our boys love coming here for their taekwondo classes. Master Bradley and the other black belts do a great job of being firm and kind to the children. I'm always amazed at how Bradley is able to remember each student's name and belt level.
E Y: This is an amazing place to learn taekwondo. Master Bradley is an amazing teacher. It is clear he knows his stuff and is an advanced expert, and yet he is also a wonderful instructor who is patient with the students and helps them learn important skills and disciplines while making it very fun at the same time. I highly recommend!
fernando mejia: Really good AcadamyI extremely recommended it
Moni: is a chill and a nice person, he thinks the best part about this Taekwondo studio is the people. They are affable, benevolent, and amiable. He also thinks that there is so much more to this Taekwondo studio. It is not just a place to learn kicks and punches, but also a place to learn, develop, show respect to one another, and a place to grow.My son likes this place and it matters to me. I think this is a great place to enroll your kids to learn not only Taekwondo, but also a real-life applicable skill set. I would recommend.
Alexis Aguayo: My daughter is currently a student at Kings Martial Arts Academy. She started off very timid and now with the help of instructors she is showing more confidence and strength. The Masters are amazing with their students and they go the extra mile to guide and assist them in their journey to black belts. Thank you Master Cole for providing our daughter with the guidance she needs.
Carolina Tenorio: These classes are the best since they have fun and have discipline, my daughter has a lot of self-confidence since she is taking these practices, she has a blue ribbon, her parents are proud of her
Miguel Chamorro: I’ve been a student here since before the pandemic and it’s been great! A great school to learn Taekwondo while having fun and pushing yourself. Very positive environment with all the students and teachers that make it super engaging!
Carlos MR: Great martial arts school! I've studied at three different types in my life and my daughter tried three others before choosing this one. Definitely our favorite. Thank you Master Bradley!
Jennifer West: My son has been attending King's Martial Arts for a year and a half. He is currently a brown belt and he has achieved this success through the support of all the black belts. Master Bradley is so great with my son, providing encouragement and gentle discipline. We have individual sessions weekly with Sophia and I believe she is playing a huge part in his progress. It has truly been a positive experience for our family. 5 stars!
Jonathan Bautista: Great studio . Very friendly staff . My daughter loves coming to class and learning new skills.
