n feehan: excellent Italian sandwich, worth it to pay extra for Calabrian chili spread. Will be coming back to try the hot sandwiches and their ample bread selection

RODOLFO DE OLIVEIRA COSTA: Molinari Deli is a gem in the heart of the city, offering an authentic Italian delicatessen experience that is second to none. From the moment you step inside, the rich aroma of fresh ingredients and the friendly, welcoming atmosphere make you feel right at home. The deli is a feast for the senses, with a vast array of Italian meats, cheeses, and specialty items that showcase the true essence of Italian cuisine.I had the chicken cutlet sandwich, and it was absolutely phenomenal. The chicken was perfectly cooked—crispy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside. It was complemented by fresh, flavorful toppings and nestled in a deliciously crusty roll that tied everything together beautifully. Each bite was a delightful blend of textures and tastes, embodying the quality and tradition that Molinari Deli is known for.The staff at Molinari Deli are incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about their offerings, providing excellent recommendations and ensuring a memorable dining experience. Whether you’re grabbing a quick lunch or stocking up on gourmet Italian goods, Molinari Deli is a must-visit destination for anyone who appreciates top-notch Italian fare.

Caroline: Wide variety of cold cuts, pastrami, salami, prosciutto, turkey and much more. Aged beef and a great choice of fresh and vintage cheeses.Take your time to choose from the menu as it is very rich and caters to all taste buds.We had a Luciano, a Turkey basil and a pastrami sandwich; all delicious!A must try . We always go back.

Matthew Farley: My Brooklynite spouse will now not divorce me for at least five more years. No joke best deli I've been to west of Philadelphia. Owner's son was in the shop and provided incredible service. Can't recommend highly enough for items by the lb -OR- built sandwiches. Heavenly mortadella and sopressata.

Jonathan Catalan: Amazing deli with the most knowledgeable staff. I love supporting family businesses. I originally found this place to obtain Italian sausage for an old Italian Beef Stew Recipe. They put aside the ten pounds of sausage for me that was ready to go upon arrival. So happy to have found this place. Also, thanks for the best spicy salami in town!

Sayana: If you're a seafood lover in San Francisco, Sotto Mare is an absolute must-visit. This unassuming gem tucked away in North Beach delivers an unforgettable seafood experience that will leave your taste buds singing. The cioppino is simply the best I've ever had. The broth is rich and flavorful, brimming with a medley of fresh seafood – Dungeness crab, clams, mussels, shrimp, scallops, and fish – all cooked to perfection. Every spoonful is a symphony of flavors that will transport you straight to seafood heaven. But the culinary delights don't stop there. The Sanddab is also must-try, cooked to perfection, very light and delicious. Sotto Mare's oyster shooters are a revelation. The plump, briny oysters are perfectly complemented by the zesty cocktail sauce, creating a delightful explosion of taste that's both refreshing and invigorating. It's the perfect appetizer to kick off your seafood feast. The service is warm and attentive, and the atmosphere is lively and convivial.Must visit!

Max Kopeikin: Went here for an anniversary, and the owner Matt and chef made the experience so special. The food is fantastic 🍝🥗🍴Amazing Italian classical dishes in addition to incorporating local ingredients and new ideas. The wines are great 🍷we tried two of the reds from the list of imported Italian wines and they were both TO DIE FOR! I would definitely recommend this for your next special occasion!

Elin Bjølmer: Wow, owner Matt and his Italian Chef know how to cook and serve delicious Italian food! No pizza, only the best. My Swordfish Carpaccio was the best ever! The atmosphere in this small, informal restaurant is amazing, and Matt is so nice and friendly. When he sits down with us, and tells about his life in the food and restaurant business, we listen eagerly. Frédéric Bigard: A superb welcome in French please...Well-crafted and copious dishes.

Stella Seych: . The servers spoke Italian and our food was ready very quickly. My only gripe is that I felt the portions were too small for the price, especially since they were served on paper plates and you bus your own tables when dining there. Overall I definitely recommend, but be aware it’s not a huge meal.

Mayra Castillo: The best place to have a no fuss bowl of fresh pasta with sauce. I am a fan of the meat sauce myself but they are all delicious.Parking: Parking in the Marina can be tricky on the weekend but there are plenty of paid lots you can choose.

Giraut Alexandra: but I still recommend

Laura Peters: Stopping to eat in The Italian Homemade Company was the perfect solution for what to do between films at the SF Film Festival. The pasta and sauces are handmade on site, fresh and delicious. Seating is usually easy to get because a lot of their business is take out. I had vegetarian ravioli with pesto and a fresh salad. My friend had meat ravioli with a divine creamy tomato sauce. None of the food lasted long enough to be photographed.Parking: Public transportation to Chestnut Street abounds. Ditch the car at home and take the bus.

Will S: Some reviews say it's terrible, but then you have others actually from Italy who say it's great. People forget that like other countries, there are regional differences and just because you only know one kind doesn't make the other bad.We love the food here. The lasagna is my favorite, this style is made with fresh egg noodles with ragú, bechamel, Parmesan. It is not the style made with dried noodles and layered with ricotta and mozzarella. Pappardelle with Bolognese is always delicious. Tiramisu has good flavor but needs more substance, maybe more lady fingers.Look up the differences between northern and southern Italian pasta. They have flat bread here which is also a Northern thing.

Aimee H: Good vibes. Good service. Good foods.

jeremy hurst: This was our first time here and it did not disappoint. The food is fresh and quality. Drinks were the same. Great selection of both. The service was by far heads and tails above just about any restaurant I’ve been to in San Francisco. This place makes sure to make you feel like you’re at home and that you are taken care of. Thank you David and Marco for the SUPER hospitality! We will be back!

S Bondale: Good food, and wine. Not pretentious like north beach restaurants.Recommended dishes Gnocchi Gorgonzola Recommendation for vegetarians Somewhat recommend Vegetarian offerings Vegetarian menu or section …

Laura: The most authentic Italian food I have ever tasted! Pricy but well worth it and wonderful service as well. A classy place for a delicious relaxed meal with your spouse.

Adriana Medina: , the vibe, the atmosphere was AMAZING! We went around 3:30 so it wasn’t too crowded. They had a Dj playing oldies, creating a good time. Everything we ordered was fresh and beyond what we expected. I wish I could pack this place up and take it back to the east coast with me. Definitely visiting this place again.

Connor Scallon: Wonderful place with wonderful service. We had pasta and chose their house specialties. They were amazing.Book reservation, the place fills up fast.

Maggie Sinnig: Last night at Trattoria Contadina was one of my favorite dining experiences I’ve had in San Francisco. The vibe in the restaurant felt so warm and welcoming and it seemed like everyone knew each other. The service from all of the staff was incredible, from helping us choose our wine by letting us sample three tastings, to never letter our wine or water glass empty. Finally the food was amazing. The pastas were perfectly cooked, the sauces so tasty, and the fresh bread was lovely. My personal favorites from our meal were the Clams & Nduja, the meatballs in the tomato cream sauce, and the Carlesimo pasta. This neighborhood Italian spot just became my new favorite and stands out amongst the numerous others in North Beach.

Andy Rector: Fast and attentive service, and tasty food!Went with a group of four on a Thursday night, Trattoria was lively, but not loud. The mushrooms, shrimp scampi, and bruschetta were all tasty. I'd recommend the gnocchi with the tomato sauce as a main! The only downside to the space is there's only a single bathroom, so depending on how busy it is, there could be a line.

CJ Willis: Came here for my 40th, and I could not be happier with the choice! The food here was precisely on point. I was blown away by the duck pate and the squid ink pasta with shrimp special. And the service was friendly and helpful. Particular shout-out to William! Thank you for suggesting we combine the chocolate and panna cotta desserts, as well as just being great!Parking: Plan to walk or take a ride share!

Alicia DiGiammarino: The main draw here is the pasta dishes and for good reason. They are simple and cooked to perfection. You can’t go wrong but the Maccheroncelli is apparently the reason customers return again and again. Perhaps also they come back to see William, our waiter, who has worked there over 13 years and knows the menu in and out. He even knows the seven hills of Rome and the seven hills of SF!

Elisa Tran: Food was splendid, ambience was perfect for a romantic night out, and service was fast and warm!Loved the duck liver pate and tagliolini, steak didn’t hit home for us but still good! Dessert was incredible, best panna cotta I’ve had

Alexandra Keller: Everything about one’s experience here is superb. From the moment you walk in until the completion of the meal - it is top tier service. They care about all the details, from the freshness of each ingredient to the suggestions and pairings of items. We started with the olives and avocado salad - the olives were warm and juicy, and the salad was fresh and light. Paired well together! We also ordered both the squid ink special pasta and the truffle - they were absolutely delicious. We also ordered the garlic Parmesan focaccia and finished off with the chocolate mousse dessert. 10/10 recommend, everything was perfect!

scott phillips: We went here for the first time, based on the ratings and reviews on line. We had an exceptionally wonderful experience. The food was delicious, and very lovingly prepared. We ordered the Straciatella to start which we split and it was divine. We followed that with the market fish and the special crab pasta, both of which were fabulous. My wife found the pasta to be among the best pasta dishes she’s ever had. The service was outstanding. Our waiter was attentive and patiently explained and described every dish. He was very friendly and engaged with us as much as we liked. The atmosphere of the restaurant is low key and calm. This is a truly top level place. We felt so lucky to find it.

Cara W: I adore this neighborhood grocery store. Whether I’m picking provisions for a day in the park or groceries, they always have what I need. They’re made to order deli sandwiches are delicious and an essential addition to any day spent in nearby Golden Gate Park!

Obi Felten: I love this place. Found it on my first day I moved to SF and have been buying here ever since. Great fruit and veg, milk, eggs, yoghurt and great chocolate selection. Decent bread and cheese. OK fish and prepared food. Friendly and cheerful staff.

Jack Tso: but this one is the best to try.

sixpool: Gus’s is one of the reasons why it’s so hard for me to relocate to another city/state. You’ll never find customer service and produce quality like here.

brian noble: great local market. fantastic produce. excellent butcher. coffee. newspapers. shop where sf fire does.

Miriam Miriam: amazing poke bowl!!

Youcef Boussena: Good food and friendly staff

Laura Brown: The selection, especially of produce, is fantastic - do not let the small size fool you. Also much better quality than surrounding larger chain groceries.

Josh Kent: Amazing store that lets anyone in long as they are respectful. This guy here has been seen yelling homophobic slurs with his girlfriend dating back to 10-31-23. San Francisco is a sanctuary city and actions against the LGBTQ community and homeless community is illegal. This guy needs to learn his lesson and not be allowed in with his hateful girlfriend to such a beautiful place that tolerates every walk of life.

ryan hussey: Coffee here is nice... bread is $$$ but really nice.

Service was also great - our server made us feel very welcome and the entire staff was super attentive and polite. I definitely recommend the Raviolo di ricotta if you’re here, but I’m sure the entire menu is just as amazing!

Marissa Thienes: Very tasty food and attentive service!

darren daigle: Heard about this wonderful place from a man walking his Husky near the beach area. We stopped by after walking through Chinatown. We ate the halibut daily special and the homemade tiramisu. Fish was fresh and locally caught tiramisu was best we ever ate. Great service and reasonable price, especially for high quality of the food!! Thanks

Giuseppe Lacitignola: I recommend it to everyone, they make you feel at home with truly Italian cuisine, impeccable fast but above all quality service. The owner Giuseppe is an exquisite and comfortable person...top coffee and to say everything is excellent 💯

Art: TRUSTI've been here a few times, I love the food, and prices are fair.Although, When coming with a large group they will automatically add an 18% service charge, which is great! I would pay that and more. My problem is that I was not made aware of it, not written in the menu, not mentioned by the server, not mentioned when paying the bill. Only written in the subtotal section of the receipt. The receipt comes with the standard bottom suggestion checkboxes to leave the standard 18%, 20%, 25% etc. ON TOP of the total with the automatic 18% service charge added.Food still good, prices are still fair, but I lost a sense of trust I had with this business.I would suggest you make your guest aware of the 18% service charge when paying, or write it on the menu.

Nick Taber: Best pizza in the world. It’s as good as ever. Don’t miss out.

Denise Bostrom: My family has been enjoying Tommaso’s food — especially the pizza — since 1980; 44 years. This restaurant is the real deal, as far the Tommaso family raising children in North Beach, attending church in North Beach, and running a business in North Beach — way before I even thought about moving to North Beach. It’s a terrific restaurant with deep roots in the neighborhood.Kid-friendliness: Of course children are welcome and appreciated in Tommaso’s; it’s an Italian restaurant, owned by a warm and generous Italian family!

The Simple Travels: First off, how we were greeted and welcomed was far more impressive than our table service was. Not that it was poor, just not as lively and as friendly. Ok… enough of that. The visit was certainly worth it. Fior d’Italia was recommended by a friend and certainly being able to claim we ate at the oldest active restaurant in the U.S. made it a must visit. We very much enjoyed our meal and visit.

Julien Clavel: . For a very acceptable value for money. The service was perfect, kind and very commercial. As a family of 6: I recommend. Thanks again.Kid-friendliness: No children's menu but they have "split" a dish for 2. Adorable, without being asked.

Callie Johnson: Fino Bar & Ristorante is a hidden gem that combines Italian flavors with impeccable service. Whether you're a local or a visitor, Fino promises an unforgettable dining experience. The Pasta Perfection: Let's start with the food. Fino's pasta dishes are nothing short of divine. The Ravioli Tre Formagglo --with a creamy tomato sauce tossed with spinach--is a must-try. . It's quite possibly the best pasta I've ever eaten.Impeccable Service by Charles: Now, let's talk about Charles--the heart and soul of Fino. As the owner, he exudes warmth and genuine hospitality. From the moment you step inside, Charles makes you feel like an honored guest. His attention to detail, personalized recommendations, and passion for Italian cuisine create an extraordinary dining experience. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or simply enjoying a weeknight dinner, Charles ensures that every moment is memorable.Elegant Ambiance: Fino's ambiance strikes the perfect balance between cozy and sophisticated. The dim lighting, rustic wooden tables, and soft Italian music transport you to a trattoria in Florence. It's an ideal setting for a romantic date night or a celebratory gathering with friends.Wine Selection: Charles takes pride in curating an impressive wine list. Whether you're a wine connoisseur or a novice, he'll guide you to the perfect pairing for your meal. Don't hesitate to ask for recommendations--you won't be disappointed.Reservations Recommended: Fino is popular, so I recommend making reservations in advance. The restaurant tends to fill up quickly, especially during weekends. Luckily, we were referred by a local resident and when we arrived, there was a table open for us!In summary, Fino Bar & Ristorante is more than just a place to eat; it's an experience. Charles's dedication to exceptional service and the delightful flavors of Italy make Fino a standout in San Francisco's culinary scene. Yer at Louis Vuitton, thank you for the referral--I'm grateful for the introduction to this culinary haven!

Stevie Orona: This place was amazing. If you’re near Union square you have to go. It was one of those places where everyone was hugging the waiters and calling everyone by first name. I went on my own and dined solo, I felt SO at home and comfortable. I got the Ceasar salad, chicken picatta, and tiramisu. As well as some wine. JOSE was my waiter and he was so awesome. He was funny and was right there anytime I needed anything. THANK YOU so much! They have wines by the glass, 1/2 bottles, and full bottles. Imported and California wines. As well as cocktails. Come check this place out

Beerad Cee (beeradcee): , split salad and the pollo alla saltimbocca. Overall the fettuccini was phenomenal. Clearly freshly made and had good springiness complimented by the sauce of garlic, onions and cream. The Gnocchi was just okay. the pasta was a bit doughy feeling and stuck to my teeth as you chewed. the basil cream sauce was great though and so we did not leave any behind! The chicken was also superb. Good flavors and texture and just a perfect complement to the rest of the meal.We wish we had room for dessert as the looked phenomenal but we ate our dessert in the additional pasta order!

Neville Morcom: One of few restaurants in San Francisco that has maintained its high standards through and since Covid. The menu has a wide selection, and the salads, soup, pasta, veal and chicken dishes ordered by our group were all very good. The service was professional, caring and timely. Early in the evening the sound levels were fine and we could hear each other, but later in the evening it got louder, although not unbearable.

C. Bodhi: and I'm used to bread at nice Italian restaurants but maybe I needed to pay for it idk..but it didn't effect my experience and I just loved the place. It's definitely going to be a must when I go back to the city.

Fae LeDawson: This mid-priced Sardinian restaurant has a lot of charm with only small flaws. When you step in, you'll find a charming compact dining area with a loud buzz of conversation. It can be hard to hear others at a table of four and I wish the restaurant had more noise dampening. Service was kind but our water glasses sat empty for too much of the meal, considering the number of servers for the handful of tables. The pork sauce gnochetti was intensely savory and had the perfect texture. My table shared some Sardinian flatbread and olives, which were as expected. The lamb tenderloin was excellent, but I wish there were more vegetables to accompany it. The roe spaghetti was excellent with interesting flavors throughout. And the whole prawns came in a generous serving, also perfectly cooked.Vegetarian options: There's a strong focus on seafood with meat dishes. There are a handful of vegetarian dishes but not a large selection. It would be hard to find vegan options.Parking: You might have to park around the block, and larger cars will struggle to find suitable spots.Kid-friendliness: The atmosphere is casual enough for children above toddler age, but you may have to ask an advance about simple dishes as there are only a few that picky eaters would enjoy.Wheelchair accessibility: The tables are tightly spaced and the restaurant can be slightly crowded. If there are only 1-2 people with wheelchairs, staff might be able to reserve a table with space to wheel around. Without planning ahead, there may be difficulties.

rogueacosta: Exceptional food in quaint digs served up with great service. Started with the burrata served with a lemon and EVO drizzle. Bright, fresh and delicious. Then had the spicy octopus stew. Generally I say that if a place can correctly cook pulpo, everything else is bound to be great and that held true here. Spicy, quite hearty, and chock full of delicious octopus. Then had the gnochetti which was exceptional. Imported Sardinian pecorino, bright flavorful sugo and a dang good sauce base. Loved it. Table had some seared lamb as well which was itself, exceptional. A taste of Italy not often experienced. A must check out!

Joshua Waldman: And to top it off they offered us dessert on the house! We’ll definitely be back next time we’re in San Francisco, don’t miss this place!

David Baker: . Whenever we've gone to La Ciccia, at least one of us orders this dish, and in this visit, it did not disappoint.I decided to try something different and get the fettucine with a tomato and sea urchin sauce, topped with a shaving of cured tuna heart. I love Marcia's pasta with bottarga, but I'm so glad I tried something new. The sauce was amazing -- the tomatoes didn't overpower the sea urchin, and that wonderful flavor of the sea shined right through. For dessert, we split the chocolate panna cotta. It was fine. Marcia liked it more than me. Toasted hazelnuts added a nice texture and flavor to the dish.

Alexandra Carter: My gf and I had made a reservation here for Valentine’s Day, which we’ve had for about a month. Regretfully, I had to cancel last minute due to unforeseen circumstances. I called and spoke with the owner who was incredibly respectful and understanding despite it impacting her business. I’m giving 5 stars for refreshingly great service. We have been dying to come to this restaurant which we’ve heard is a hidden gem. Hoping to make it here soon.

Hari Jagannath: The food is just fantastic. I have been here several times and have tried pretty much everything on the menu and possibly all the wines 😜.The seafood options are the best though we did try the lamb tenderloin tip as well and it was perfectly seasoned and cooked but I would still stick to the seafood options as that is what they are known for, being a Sardinian restaurant. The restaurant is small but they do have a courtyard area that would be great when the weather is nice. The servers were warm and friendly so this added to the pleasure of the evening dinner.Parking: As this is a residential area in the Upper Noe Valley, street parking can be hard find and you may need to go further up the hill to find it which can make for a “digestive” walk back after the meal 😬
