CK C: Minamotokishoan, one of the top brands of Japanese wagashi. There is no problem except that it is a little expensive. However, it is reasonable to pay a little more to bring Japanese taste to the United States intact.
Kiana: Tasty Japanese treats that arenât too sweet! The store has a super nice vibe, very respectful staff, and cute little treats.Kid-friendliness: I think kids would love to visit this store, itâs very colorful and unique.
Ana Bernardino: The real deal! It was like I was back in Japan eating a daifuku đ€€Food: 5/5 âŠ
Jackie C: After checking the receipt, they over charged my large gift box set for $81.2 instead of $70.49 that showed in the store today around 10:15am.Updated:Great customer and corrected the issue immediately
Bert Campana: Christmas is the only time of the year that we enjoy this most wonderful treat. My brother in law buys a box for my mother in law which she kindly shares with the family. The texture, the just the right amount of sweetness and size makes each bite a slice of heaven. The green tea, strawberry and white peach mochi is to die for. I've never been to a store but plan to soon. Enjoy!

Fuline Lite: I used to love coming here as kid. I loved their blueberry mochi and their flavors, usually ones not typically found at the store. I'm gonna miss them. They were usually the only quiet place during the afternoon bustle of J-town. Too bad it took them onto their retirement for people to finally show up like they used to ask. It was all really good all these years, sad yet really happy for them. Congratulations for 115 years in business.
C: Day 1 we couldn't get any, day 2 we were there at 7am and we go to the doors at 1230pm. Please expect a 5 hour wait and if you lined up after 8am, your chances are slim. Is it worth it, eff yes! This is a staple, a masterpiece, true genius. They close March 31 and I'm broken hearted but wish them a lovely retirement.Your mochi lives on in our hearts.
Punkie Nelson: I have been to your store many times with my parents when I was young. When my parents got older we would drive them to get our favoritesâmanju and an panâand always something extra. After my parents passed away, I continued to get to Benkyodoâs whenever I could. Itâs sad for me to realize that today would be my last visit and purchase. I will truly miss you, but at the same time, I sincerely wish you a long and happy retirement! You deserve it!đđžđ
Souriya Hounthavong: If you know you know hands down this is one of the best mochi spots in Japan town. After 115 years of detecting their love into each delightful mochi ball packed full of traditional and fresh seasonal ingredients. It's sad to say they are finally closing their doors. Hopefully one day we'll be lucky enough that they'll find a family member who is honorable to carry on their century-old family tradition once more.đ€In till then may their legacy live on! Cheers! Happy retirement Benkoyo-doâ
Stephen Inoue: Go NOW. Last day is March 31, 2020. Sad day for SF Japantown.
Amy Chen: Sad to see this place close and wish them the best on their retirement! For anyone looking to make a trip before they close at the end of this month, try to make it there early! We showed up at 8:30 and the line was almost to the end of the block. Ended up getting to the front of the line at ~12:30, and then placed an order to pick up at 1:00pm
Megan Lee: . If you go on a Friday or Saturday, plan to be there before 7:30 AM
Mei Fu Lee: . You constantly see them cycling trays of mochi. They limited 3 of each fruit mochi but you can get as many of the other types. I tried to order at least two of each they had. The fruit
Kevin Geng: are $2 each, and the rest are $1.65 each, from what I can tell. The selection varies based on the time of day.
Brian Adam: I have to give the lines 5 stars out of 5. I came here on 2/18/22, and it was impeccable. The line went out past the Nihonmachi Little Friends and slowly creeped up the street.Famously, since Benkyodo is retiring, you will hear people remark that it is closing forever very soon, and that the lines are always very long, or asking whether this is the line for the mochi, or whether it is worth it.I think the line got shorter from people quitting faster than people were actually served. What's that all about? After an hour of waiting like a chump, the staff said they wouldn't have anymore left for us.I came back on Saturday morning 2/19/22, and the line went even farther --- double the length of what it was the previous day.To quote the staff: "The lines are always terrible on Friday and Saturday. Come on the weekday."
SF2TOKYO: Best Mochi outside of Japan. It's too bad it's closing down.
Danielle O: Good spot. Food a four, service and ambiance a five. I'll be sad when it's gone. Best mochi I've had since LA and Japan.

Jessica Valentine: Every year my husband treats me to a strawberry shortcake for my birthday. It's like you're eating a cloud with cool crisp strawberries. It's a little known gem in Japan Town. My family has been buying their cakes for three generations now.Recommended dishes Strawberry Shortcake, Cake Slices âŠ
Trang Nguyen: was really good. The cream was cold like ice cream, might not travel well.
Roberto Aguilar: Didnt try, bc they ran out by 1:00 pmOn a wednesday. So call ahead or place an order to pick up, to double make sure you're able to get jt. Read others were able to get it but, think it was late morning rather than the afternoon.I was confused where it was but it's inside a grocery store.
Cal: coffee cake is so good, they run out though so go earlyRecommended dishes Coffee Crunch Cake Slice âŠ
GG: The market has some good snacks too
Rhonda Jones: , they only had 2 slices left. They lady began to apologize, and I told her not to worry about it... we'll just take both of whatever that is! See pics - one chocolate roll and the other some sort of "crunch cake" per the IG post I saw. Both were phenomenal!!! Delicate cake with lovely flavors and the perfect amount of sweetness! They are a small Japanese bakery inside of a Japanese grocery store. I'm so happy to know about them and will definitely visit again during my next trip to San Francisco. Just know, I have a small bakery in North Carolina and I'm very particular about dessert! This was ahhh-mazing!
Dayna Patchouli: . The light and delicate crumb of the cake is simple and grasps the candy with the whipped cream layers in-between.$6 is perfectly priced. It's just enough to share for 2 if you're not a sweet tooth
Kishor Bhat: Tasty coffee crunch cake and mocha swiss roll!

Div Manickam: Excited to walk into a Japanese sweets shop and walk out with awesomeness .. Sakura daifuku, Sakura tea and chocolate mochi
Nixon Caparas: Another must-visit spot when you're in SF Japantown. Since my first visit, it's become a regular stop, and I consistently end up making a purchase. Even as someone who typically only enjoys mochi ice cream and isn't a fan of regular mochi, the offerings here are too tempting to resist. We sampled the chocolate mochi in-store, and after they generously allowed us to try a whole piece, we were impressed. Although we enjoyed that flavor, we ultimately chose the strawberry mochi, which turned out to be exceptional. The sweetness was perfectly balanced, neither overwhelming nor bland. It's an ideal place to pick up gifts for your travels or simply treat yourself. The selection includes candies, savory senbei/rice cracker snacks, mochi, teas, cookies, and more. Personally, my favorites to indulge in are the Harajuku Mochi Chocolates in matcha and strawberry flavors! Moreover, they offer intriguing collaboration items featuring series like Demon Slayer and characters like Hello Kitty and Kumamon. Each item is elegantly packaged and ready to be presented straight from the shop. It's worth noting that many items here are directly imported from Japan, offering a unique selection beyond what you'd find in the snacks/gift section at places like Tokyo Central, Nijiya, Mitsuwa, etc. Whether you're a fan of Japanese sweets and snacks or someone who enjoys trying new and different things, a visit here is highly recommended! I'll definitely be returning for their mochi.Their store is located within Japan Center West Mall. If you spot the prominent signage outside, simply proceed straight in, and you'll quickly find their store.
Sebastian Rodriguez: Excellent option for a unique souvenir and to surprise.
Jianqi Chen: highly recommend. Went today the customer service is awesome will definitely come back
Gamer 2010: yummy
Mandiee Leaver: I wish they had an online shop. The hard candies were good.
Jonathan Chiou: Strawberry mochi was pretty good and only cost ~$11 for a box.
Daniel C: and secure your purchases neatly. Makes for a great presentation when giving a gift!
Jose De Armas: My Mochi was DELICIOUS đđ and the woman there was very nice
Mr. D.R.: Excellent sweets shop. The staff were polite and efficient when ringing me up. Would love to go back.
Alex Vinogradov: Great selections

D A: Randomly found this shop, the crepes are really yummy, they are still warm and they are crispy. I was here for visiting, and got crepes from this shop everyday. Now I left the city, I have been missing this crepe shop everyday. Definitely will comeback.
Suresh: Food: 4/5
Lucas Chang: This place is a really cool combination of a creperie and a little Asian snack mart. The crepes and eggettes are really good and both the vanilla and melon flavors we purchased hit the spot after our dinner. The shop part of the building is well stocked with various Asian snacks including hello panda snacks and yakult drinks. I would definitely recommend for a quick snack or light meal.Vegetarian options: Most crepes donât have any meatDietary restrictions: Theyâre are eggs and flour and milkParking: Limited street parking in residential and commercial streets nearbyKid-friendliness: They were friendly to my little brother
Paul-Elie Nauleau: Great little shop with a store inside with specialty goods. The crepes with ice cream and whip cream are really good!Parking: Street parking with meters
Steph Wong: , and lettuce crepe. The cheese is nice and gooey and the lettuce provides a nice freshness to offset the saltiness of the cheese and ham.I also love getting their sweet crepes as they always hit the spot. There's some seating inside, but also benches outside. Definitely a great spot to grab a quick meal or dessert.Street parking is most likely your only option. There is residential, but only if you're lucky.

Trang Nguyen: Great variety, good price and taste- Swiss roll $2 - 4/5- crepe $9 for durian and $8.5 for other flavors. Love the durian!
Zhuo Z: One of the best bakeries in Chinatown. Their product is of high quality. I in particular love their bread, soft and airy. They are generous with their bread fillings. This justify their slightly higher price which is completely worth it. There are many options, sweet and savory. My favorite is the tuna bun which has a pleasant kick from the black pepper inside.
Adi W.: Recommended dishes Pineapple Sponge Cake, Mini Pineapple Buns, Coconut Cake, Mango Mousse Cakes
Wendy Chou: You can find pretty cheap tasty cake here!
Thu Do (Sofia): , one of the best mooncake I have had in the US
Al c: Freshly made pastries and a good expresso or slush to accompany it among good company any day
Jacinda K: . The chocolate chiffon cake was very light and fluffy, not very sweet. Wish it had more cream filling though! Note: must spend $6+ to use credit card for payment.

Jesse Lee: If you havenât tried Japanese baked goods, you must try it it less sweet as traditional American goods, itâs lighter and more subtle in sweetness.Specially try their milk breads!!
Ben Gregory: Here for the pastries and buns. Today is the taro bun! Really good!Recommended dishes Pastries at Andersen Bakery âŠ
V Y: Big selection of pastries, had couple and they were nice. Tables outside require a change, they are too dirty and old already, not pleasant to sit at at all.
Prachi Gupta: The croissant was okay, I guess if I had it fresh and the butter had not gotten all cold then it would have been great.
