May Construction Inc: what do users think?

Jim Carlson: May construction has done 2 major projects for our home in San Jose and they have helped out with some tricky repairs when needed. One was water damage from rains storms in the dry wall on our 15' vaulted ceiling in our living room! They were very professional at every step in the construction process from project planning to final inspections. Each subcontractor is carefully vetted so that you know everyone coming in will provide the same quality. If there is a problem, they will work on it until it is fixed to the clients satisfaction; May takes pride in their work and have very high standards for quality. We have been very satisfied with all of the work they have done on our home and will call them in the future when we decide to make any other improvements.

Their collaborative approach and dedication to teamwork create a productive and enjoyable working relationship. They bring a wealth of knowledge to every project, and their insights often enhance our designs, leading to beautifully executed remodels. We highly recommend May Construction Inc. to anyone seeking reliable and experienced residential remodeling contractors. Our five-year partnership stands as a testament to their exceptional service.

Aaron Braunstein: were all top notch and performed very high quality work under May's management. Everybody at May from the front office to back office to the people on site was professional, friendly, effective - and clearly knew their job very well. They were very patient with us in answering every question and addressing every concern regardless of when we reached out. I only wish that we had other properties in the area so that we could work with them again. Highest possible rating!

Janice Lee: May Construction was familiar to us before we even thought about starting our project. We had seen their previous work and knew this was the company we would use to help us create our forever home. From the first day they really listened to every conversation we had and drew up plans that exceeded our expectations. After that the May Construction Team took care of all stages of the renovation. It was so liberating to be able to trust the team with bringing our vision to life. They stuck very closely to their schedule and we had weekly meetings to stay informed of progress. My favorite part was the fact that they were able to finish our project a few weeks ahead of schedule! Greg, Debbie, Donna, Eric, Troy, Bill, Jerry, Ernie, Allison. Everyone was so wonderful. I hope I didn’t forget anyone. Most importantly, we are really enjoying everything about our house now.Jeff and Janice L.

Sue Kim: We hired May Construction in 2014 to do a complete gut/remodel/addition for our home in Los Altos. We took the house down to the studs and replaced all plumbing, electrical, sewer, floors, roof, etc, etc...They provided us with a week by week timeline for the progression of work. At times there were 3-4 trades working on our home at one time to ensure the most efficient use of time possible. Greg from the beginning gave us a very detailed and itemized list for the cost of the project and scope of work, so there were no questions as to what they would or would not be doing. Budget wise, we knew EXACTLY what we would be spending and no "surprise" additional costs many other contractors tend to do. Liz, the designer was patient and always made sure the choices we were making was 100% to our satisfaction. Bill, the project manager communicated every detail with us as things progressed. He also ensured that every detail was fine tuned, even if it meant pulling something out and starting over. If there was not something we were not happy with, they addressed the issue immediately. Our neighbors commented that they were impressed by the lack of noise and debris they expected from a major remodel project. Everyone at May was easily accessible by phone, email, and even text. They were always very responsive with any questions and concerns we would bring up. I would not hesitate to hire May again for our next project.

Peter Rangos: Within budgetB

Robert Meriles: Great condition company

Jennifer Simmons: Positive:Professionalism,Punctuality,Quality,Responsiveness,Value

Pat Wilcox: I have worked with May Construction four times over many years. Each project was bigger than before culminating in a total house remodel. That project went smoothly from design through the build. Project management was very good from all members of the May team including billing, vendor interface, and site management. The project came in ‘on time and on budget’. Their pricing may appear higher than some but the added value received from their knowledge, professionalism and customer satisfaction is well worth it.I highly recommend May Construction.

Matt Witkop: May Construction remodeled our kitchen during the summer of 2018.They did an excellent job, always showed up and always returned calls. Making the sink counter deeper than normal and lowering the windows worked out really well. They set us up with a great cabinet supplier who had a lot of good ideas on cabinet features that we really appreciate now that we've had time to use the kitchen.

Curt Hoppins: The back half of our home was covered with plywood siding, which required constant maintenance. We decided to have the siding covered with stucco, so we contacted May Construction. They were very responsive and gave us an estimate, which we accepted. Soon afterwards the project began. The project was well supervised and we were constantly given status updates. The crews were friendly and professional. We were very satisfied with the result and would highly recommend May Construction.

Jan Calori: In March of 2013 I purchased a 1319 square foot home in the Cambrian Park neighborhood of San Jose. The home was built in 1957 and I was fortunate to be the second owner. It had never been updated or remodeled so obviously I had a huge project to undertake. After interviewing a few contractors, I decided May Construction was definitely the one for the job and have never regretted my decision. The two bedrooms and bath on one side of the house only needed updating. The living/dining area, kitchen, and master bedroom/bath on the other side of the house needed a new design. May Construction’s designer was very knowledgeable and came up with the most awesome and functional design. I found May Construction to be reliable; the construction began on time and was finished on time and within my budget. May Construction also has the experience necessary and they are perfectionist. My house was transformed into an amazing home! We had a good work relationship as they are excellent communicators. Their entire staff was friendly and courteous. I can honestly say May Construction always had my best interest in mind!

Cara Fernandez: Our one story 1960’s ranch style house in Saratoga, was in need of an upgrade. We ended up removing a few walls, creating a brand new kitchen, living and dining room with a transitional open concept. We updated an existing fireplace by refacing in stone and adding a gas insert. We added 110 sq. feet to our master suite by adding a double vanity, walk in closet, and walk in shower, new floors, windows, roof and stucco to the whole house. We added air conditioning, and updated the heating system. All in all, the entire house is like new!Greg May helped us finalize our decisions based on the vision we had for our house. He had great ideas, didn’t push to do unnecessary work, preserved some previous remodeling we had done, and kept it simple and straightforward while accomplishing what we wanted to do with our house. He was always keeping budget in mind and suggested ways we could do more for less, and be more efficient with our project. He wasn’t pushy and his personality was very calming in these very stressful beginning stages. In looking for a General Contractor we had specific qualities that were critical:Budgeting: Before we began, we worked through and estimated budget that we were able to tailor to what we wanted to do. Although we added more scope to the project once we started, we were never surprised in the middle of the project with additional costs to the original scope of our project. Many friends had said, “expect your budget to double by the end”, and happily we ended within our scope.Project On Time: Although we had a few changes as the project progressed, we were back in our house within the six month time frame that was promised. We had an unusually wet winter during our project, and despite the weather, effort was made to move things along quickly. Eric was on top of keeping us on track to making decisions when it came to tile, flooring, fixtures, paint color, etc. to make sure that lead times would not hold up the project.Hard working staff and subcontractors: Our neighbors commented on how surprised they were that we had people working on our house almost every day. It was rare that there wasn’t someone at the house doing something. It was even impressive when a variety of contractors would arrive at the same time to work side by side to save time on the project.Quality staff: All of the employees of May Construction as well as subcontractors were respectful and courteous. I would be on site most days, and they truly valued my opinion and answered all of the questions and concerns that I had. Our designer, Catherine, made some excellent suggestions for bathroom design, and tile/countertop selections.Attention to detail: May construction was sure to make sure that every detail was finished to our satisfaction. They were good about coming out even months later to fix any issue we had. With all new construction, you can count on a few problems, but May is quick to act to fix them.Communication: It was easy to contact our project manager Eric. He was always available via text, email or phone. Even on the weekends, he was willing to answer questions and solve issues that had come up. No matter the situation, Eric was always a listening ear and would reach out to the proper subcontractor to get the issues resolved. Going through a remodel can be very stressful and May always took a calm and measured approach to any situation. They were good at listening to concerns, making suggestions, and made the process as pleasant as possible.Overall, we are more than thrilled with the finished product. We have an amazing “new” home and have found new friends in May Construction. It is rare at the end of a project that people would not only value their contractor, but consider them friends. From the office staff, to the construction crew… EVERY person at May Construction was a fantastic person that showed they cared about making my house a home to be proud of.

Michael Glantz: Assistance with design of our kitchen remodel was very helpful. Throughout the process they expressed concern regarding our preferences and followed up after the job was completed to ensure our satisfaction. They focused on quality and detail which we appreciated.

R B: Project cost. With May Construction’s “Design-to-Build” process, we worked with them to plan the detailed features and layout for the new kitchen area before construction began. This enabled us to make informed choices to define a project that fit within our budget before we signed the contract. Ultimately, our project cost rose less than 2% from start to finish, with most of that being minor changes we made as construction progressed.2

Paul Chung: When you need a quility+ result, call the May Construction! Real craftsmanship from the genuine heart.

Tony Tran Construction: what do users think?

Ra: , are kind and reasonable. They are hard-working, experienced, and are receptive to feedback. They always listened when we had a particular concern, minor or major.Tony was very accommodating. He would constantly listen to our feedback and accept input on how to make the process better. For instance, when I mentioned that I wanted to minimize construction dust, he immediately set up tents of 6-mil plastic barriers using Zipwall barriers. We then added intake and exhaust fans to blow away construction dust.Tony is a responsible and honorable person. In our project, we ran into an incident where the quartz subcontractor wasn't experienced with inset cabinets. That subcontractor cut a mitered edge that was too long and stretched too far for inset cabinets. It was clear and apparent both to us and to Tony that the subcontractor didn't cut the slab specifically for inset cabinets and, furthermore, the subcontractor was very sloppy with his work. The subcontractor left burn marks on the cabinets by using dull wood blades, damaged the cabinets, and left glue on the cabinets without cleaning up. These are Crystal cabinets and were over 30 grand in cost. It was a shame, to say the least.Tony immediately rectified the situation by getting new slabs and getting another subcontractor, from Baystone, to re-do the work. Furthermore, he found a specialist to repair the cabinets, and another specialist to fix the cabinet paint. Other contractors would leave you hanging and this event would probably have ended up in court. But, Tony not only recognized the problem, but he made sure to fix the problem right away. Although we had to wait an extra 6 weeks

James Sutton: when going through a renovation. He really cared about us and our experience with renovating our home. I highly recommend working with Tony Tran Construction and plan to use Tony and his team again for future projects.

Rick Lahkar: A whole house remodel can be quite a daunting task but our house was ready for one. We hired Mr. Tony Tran as our main contractor for the job and that was one of the best decisions we took. We interviewed and took quotes from quite a few other contractors but Tony shone primarily because of his pleasing personality and competitive bid. This wasn't definitely a most flawless project and hiccups did happen but Tony was not only understanding but very easy to deal with.Tony has the nicest crew in the business, I must say. They were a pleasure to deal with and very good at their craft. Also, important to note is that COVID-19 broke out during the remodel and there was a delay in the project. Tony and we spoke and agreed on a revised deadline to complete the project and Tony actually made the house "move back-in ready" a week before the deadline. We love the end result of the interior of our house and everything was well worth it.I have to admit this was a very challenging project we undertook but we're very glad that we hired Mr. Tony Tran. He is an absolute gentleman and a thorough professional. Highly recommended !!

Christopher Shawwa: Feel free to stop by and check out his great work. Not only is his price competitive, his work is top notch and built to last. Once you met Tony you will instantly understand that he cares deeply about people and takes great pride in his work. If something is wrong he will always make it right. For example, on two different occasions my shops had plumbing issues

Jerry Yang: We just bought a new home in West San Jose, nearby Cupertino. Our Objective was having our home totally renovated before we move in. Not much to ask right? After interviewing top 4 contractors in San Jose. We selected Tony Tran Construction. Tony came across as a General Contractor we can trust. He has a calm manner and he is passionate about his works. He extends his passion as a Jet Pilot who flew the U.S made A-37 Dragonfly Jet Airplane to what he does now. Tony is extremely detailed oriented and he cares about his Customers. Our kitchen is very tiny and we asked Tony for his ideas. Tony suggested that we remove the load-bearing walls to extend the kitchen. Andy, a Foreman of Tony's team is supremely talented. Our existing 100 AMP Electrical panel was upgraded to 200 AMP panel with a Tesla Charger in garage. Our home was built in 1966 and there were no ground wires to Electrical outlets and switches. We asked Tony to remove non-ground wirings to the new Electrical wirings the entire home. The squeaking noise on the floor was fixed before installing Vinyl Pergo with 5 1/4 inch baseboards.Tony spent the time by taking us to his vendors to select the Kitchen Cabinets, Countertop, Vinyl Pergo and baseboards. Here is our report for the workmanship and working with Tony Tran Construction: The new textures on walls and ceilings were perfectly matching our existing textures so you can't tell the drywall were cut, patched and painted. The siding around the Front door were extremely matched the existing siding and you can never tell the door was moved 3 ft to the Left. The Kitchen countertops were installed in perfection that you can't feel the joints and the cabinets were also installed perfectly as well. One nice touch: Tony installed screw-less faceplates on all outlets and switches to make them look nice without charging us extra. There were 2 Change Orders to our additional requests and Tony was wonderful by giving us great discounts. Tony and his team worked continuously 6 days a week to finish our home 4 days ahead of schedule. One of our friend hired other contractor and their Kitchen wasn't finished in 5 weeks. Tony and his team finished our entire home in 4 weeks. Tony had a Professional Cleaning team to clean our entire home before we moved in. We asked Tony to haul away the debris left by our Landscaper. Tony willingly obliged and not charging us even 1 penny. Our home was totally changed. We love the wide-open kitchen when we open our door and it became the Focal point of our home. We are totally satisfied and very glad to select Tony Tran Construction. Everything were done right the very first time and his team were very efficient. We will refer Tony to all of our family members and friends. A 5 Star review for a Job Well Done. Many Thanks Tony.

Kanahl Kendrick: DATE: 6/12/19Dear Reader:If you are looking for genuine customer service, contact Tony Tran Construction. Tony is dedicated to providing excellent customer service. A lot of businesses talk about customer service, but either do not understand the concept or know how to practice it. Tony on the contrary both understands and practices customer service at an exceptional level.Yesterday, the A/C went out at the Women's Care for Life Medical Clinic. Tony was contacted because he is the original contractor that built out the new office suite. He sent his crew to the office suite the same day, after business hours, to diagnose the problem. The crew returned the next day at 8:30 AM to work on the problem. With less than two hours of work on the job, his crew had the A/C up and working again.Note, the A/C was out since the weekend and these recent days all have been 100 degrees plus weather. Women's Care for Life was on the verge of rescheduling patients, because of the extreme heat in the exam rooms. Needless to say, Tony's superb customer service avoided Women's Care for Life from further inconveniencing its patients as a result of the failed A/C.I am sure you agree, Tony deserves 5 stars for his excellent customer service extended to Women's Care for Life.Best regards,ManagementWomen's Care for LifeDATE: 1 Year AgoTony Tran Construction is highly recommended for commercial jobs. He has a calm way of managing complex projects, while always displaying a smile even during the most challenging times of the project.Tony relocated the Women's Care for Life medical clinic from Los Gatos to a new location in San Jose under a very tight deadline. He came in under budget and on time. Tony also took on aspects of the project that were slated for other contractors. For instance, the job was faced with high architecture fees and an exorbitant sewage line cost. Tony's involvement got both projects quickly under control as well as under budget. The City of San Jose's permit process was very lengthy, with onerous requirements. Due to Tony's tenacity, the final permit eventually was obtained, and most importantly without passing on unexpected cost to the medical practice.Tony's value-add is his strong desire to first-and-foremost complete the job in a high quality manner. There were several surprise enhancements to the medical practice, e.g. Bluetooth switch5/USB charger in the exam rooms, Quartz counter tops at receptionist/nurse stations, etc.One day, while in an exam room, Tony asked the medical practice's doctor would she like to hear Whitney Houston. Given that there was not any CD player or music system in the exam room, the doctor asked Tony -- "how?" Next, Tony pared his cell phone with the Bluetooth switch in the exam room and Whitney Houston's "The Greatest Love of All" began to play over the speaker. The doctor was overcome by tears and she hugged Tony and said "I am speechless -- I can't believe what you have done for my new practice".Needless to say, Tony by far is not your typical contractor. He is very personable and eager to exceed the client's expectation. On behalf of the doctor and I, Tony Tran Construction is highly recommended!Regards,Women's Care for LifeMedical ClinicBusiness Manager

Quan Vu: he was happy to do it without even charging us for that. The communication with Tony is a breeze through out the project. He's very responsive and get back to you promptly. I feel, with Tony, customer satisfaction is his number one priority and it comes from his good heart.Tony can do all this with the help and expertise of his crew, I would like to thank his foreman, Chinh, for his excellent skills in tiling, plumbing and his meticulous attention to everything he did during the remodel. Our house was kept clean with the hallway covered with a layer of plastic and everyday the crew started their job with covering the hallway with a another layer of canvas. We interviewed with 4 other contractors before we decided to go with Tony, and we're very happy we made the right choice.

chiranjeevi bhandaru: . Even if he misses your call he will call you right back. He even answered my phone when he was on vacation and he constantly replied back to my texts. I am amazed as to how to he does this. Now coming to the pricing .Tony's prices are very fair and reasonable compared to the market. We could not have done this project since we had a budget set in our minds. Also to add Tony did a lot of things for free.I don't think anyone really does that nowadays. Tony really cares about his customers a lot and does not differentiate between small or big job. He just wants to make customers happy. He treats everyone with respect. We could not be more happier with the way everything turned out. Our house completely looks different and new. This goes for anyone looking to remodel their house "TONY IS THE BEST IN THE BUSINESS!! THE BEST".

David Maa: He won’t nickle and dime you. His estimates are clear and prices reasonable, and if there’s a minor change or additional work that needs to be done, often he’ll complete it without charging. He replaced the upstairs bathroom window and added laminate flooring to the small steps that connect our garage to the house, all without charge. I’ve heard horror stories of contractors that for every little change or unexpected issue that comes up, they add it to the contract and the cost just racks up. This didn’t happen with Tony.2
