Paul King: For serious collectors... a San Francisco used ephemera, magazines and books treasure!
Murphy: Ordered item from eBay. Shipped fast, and packaged very well. Highly recommend this seller.
Carlos X: . Will make another appointment when I'm in the city again.
Amanda Keisler: My fave valley book shop. Not that you have many to choose from, anymore. But for great prices on used books, and selling your old books, you can't beat it! PLUS they have cats that live there, it's so charming!
Holger Haase: My kind of second hand book store. Fell totally in love with this place when I visited San Francisco. Tons and tons of often rare paperbacks from the glory days of pulp fiction.
Monterey Hess: awsome for old books

Nikko Cheng: Call ahead if you are planning to visit. I called in the morning and no one answered, and I gave another try in the afternoon and they were open. The owner's daughter, one of the nicest people you will ever meet, is helping her father looking after the shop and she cannot be in two places at once, so the business hours varies. This shop specialized in books on Western US and Pacific regions. However, they recently aquired a lot of incunabula leaves, antique books, maps and vellum letters ranging from 15th to 19th century. There are museum grade pieces that can usually be found on high end auctions. If you are a collector, you are in luck since this is currently one of the few places you can buy them without bidding at the auctions and paying for the premium. I bought a few magazines and memorabilia of San Francisco from the late 19th century, and still concidering buying more.
evan paul: Please update this to let people know you're only open by appointment
Abbey Westbury: What an absolute treasure this bookstore is! The proprietor is a true gentleman and a font of knowledge, everything in his shop is meant to be appreciated and read. Everything has a beautiful story. We felt like we were getting a private tour of the rare books section of a library. We found some lovely books, discovered beautiful prints, and were charmed by antique postcards, but the emotional experience is really made our visit to the Argonaut unbeatable.
Lucy: Owner is very nice and was pretty helpful, might even tell you a story or two. A lot of books were more expensive than I thought they would be but that's probably because I was looking in the glass case. Pretty well organized and run for a used bookstore, especially with prices.
Patricia Hawbaker: Solid book store. Not what I was looking for, did know where I could find it though.
Emelda Kerkhoff: What an unexpected joy to visit this bookstore. The owners are knowledgeable and open to sharing all kinds history. Even if you dont stop by for a purchase stop by for a fun filled and enlightening history of the area.

Herbert Yu: Hong Kong Dian Xin. Pretty quick on my first service and not bad for all my four dishes.
Matthew Gariano: This is really a very sweet shop with a wonderful selection of books and CDs. A must for any true bibliophile. The prices; a mere dollar per book.
Alvaro G: How can you not like books at $1??? This is the best option for classic second hand books.
Roberto Basurto Rangel: Huge selection of books, of all choices.
Arthur Crowther: A great bookshop with excellent choice of books. It has all those interesting books from the past, but not many that you get swamped. Run by Volunteers of the Library. Books cost.under $10, some as low can as $3, even for a volume. The success of a bookstore is in the choice of the books.
Walter Gaertner: Nice and guet
Dale Legum: Great prices !!! Wonderful, eclectic selection. All mysteries, sci fi, fantasy, romance..only a dollar!!
Stilkraft: Less expensive than most used book stores, about half of original price. With its relatively small space, selection is limited but still you may get some find.
Roberto Collecchi: Very organized and well-stocked library. Unfortunately during the trip it is not possible to dedicate a lot of time to visiting this type of structure, but from the little I saw it is really well structured.

Ariel: , but also because my love for this store knows no bounds. It’s truly my dream come true. A bookstore that specializes in horror, Sci-Fi, and fantasy? Are you KIDDING ME? Take my money. Not to mention the owner is kind and welcoming, Jude is an absolute doll, and Eleanor is everything I hope to be in life… Borderlands is a must. An institution. You’ll always find something here 💛🔪
Chris Conrad: Best sf/f selection in the entire region!!
Lindsey Hall: It's a bookstore filled with sci fi/fantasy and horror. Inherently delightful. On top of that you can tell the employees love these genres and helping people find books they'll love. I was lucky to come in while Scott was working and his recommendations were spot on first try. Easily one of the best experiences I've had in a bookstore.
Jason Siow: Amazing place for sci fi and fantasy. Got all 3 books of The Farseer Trilogy used for $16.
Eli: I came in during the holidays for a last-minute gift. The sci-fi book series i was looking for was small batch printed and hard to find, so i went and asked for some advice or recommendations. there were two people, and they were both incredibly helpful in finding a book even better than what i was looking for. I have limited science fiction knowledge, but the people at Borderland Books were so helpful in finding the perfect book. They have a great selection and awesome staff.

Scott: This bookstore is a solid four. It's fun for quick browsing, and they have a few really bizarre books. But there aren't a lot of books. I'm worried that this store will not stay in business. given the number of books they have I can't imagine selling enough to pay the rent at this spot.

Steven Su: Went because I saw it before and thought it was a cute bookshop. Turns out it’s a few days before they close. The books and atmosphere were good but it’s really sad they’re leaving I think tomorrow. Overall they seemed friendly and the store was nice and cool. Unfortunate that it’s going to be gone.
Austin S. Lin: Great indie bookshop with fantastic, knowledgeable staff and a well curated selection. Come pick up a new read, stay for the window displays!
Doris T: Love this neighborhood bookstore and they offer free gift wrapping
Mz Goldstein: They had a very random cookbook that I have not been able to find and there it was… sitting in the window! Also, they still ask people to mask which I appreciate so much. The pandemic is not over and it’s a VERY simple respectful thing to do.
Valery Tziporin: My go to for kids BDay hifts
Jane Hartmann: It’s great to live near a bookstore. They have a wide selection of books… and it’s a great place for greeting cards. The staff is friendly and they will happily order books. They also gift wrap!
Kirsten Midtbo: A wonderful bookstore. I always make sure to stop by when I am in the area.
Shoshana Castro-Root: and cool nicknacks as well. The people who work there are really friendly! My

Krishin Asnani: My doorman informed me that this store was closing and so had to pay a visit to see and say goodbye to it’s manager Jerry Thompson who was one of the first people I met when I arrived here 18 months ago ;I hung out with him manning the cashier and exchanged bon mots ; after he saw my essay, he was the one to gift me Herb Cains classic book of essays on SF; it was variegated store with its tentacles that start with literature and then move into in all departments including American studies , travel essays , photography;Hope it finds a new home.
Thomas Yan: Closing at the end of April 2023. Currently 45% off, please stop by for a visit before they shutter their doors!
Katie Koche: This store is going out of business in the end of April 2023. They are currently offering 25% off everything: endless selections of books, journals, maps, puzzles… I would recommend checking the title of the book on their website to see if it’s on the shelf. Or just get surprised. It’s sad to see another bookstore going out of business in SF.
Shreya Arora: What a treat it is to visit this bookstore. Great selection and wonderful staff
David Jarvis: Great bookstore in Financial District SF. Solid selection.
TCW Sam Vimes: Great selection, helpful and very friendly service.
Jet Lepper: I like this book store well enough. They have a large selection of books and I appreciate that they mark down damaged books rather than sell them for full price. Worth checking out if you're in the area.
Felipe Cejudo: A very familiar and traditional place to find a good book
thibaud lacoudre: Large bookstore, lots of choice.Good advice
Laura: Awesome independent bookstore with an amazing selection of books, cards, and gifts crammed into three glorious floors. You could easily pass an afternoon here, wandering through and discovering new authors and titles.
Neal: "Three Floors of Books"If you're looking for a reading material, look no further. Inside this well-lit bookstore, you'll find thousands of books ranging from poems to photo books. There are books on sale, but most are full price. In my opinion, the best titles are in the basement. Even if you're not interested in buying a book, this is a peaceful place to check out.
Richard Murray: Great people, great books!
aLLeYWay macK415: I like the 3 floors. I like the business, computer section. Staff friendly, professional and knowledgeable.
