Kumako Ramen: what do users think?

Saulmurillo: Excellent service and delicious foodThe owner is a very kind personAnd very aware of his businesscongratulations

Jess Catli II: During my visit to Kumako Ramen & Sushi in 2019, I was treated to an exceptional culinary experience that seamlessly blended traditional flavors with contemporary presentation. The ambiance of Kumako Ramen & Sushi exuded authenticity and warmth, providing a welcoming setting for a delightful meal. The menu showcased a diverse selection of both ramen and sushi, each dish a testament to the chef's dedication to culinary excellence.

Kyle Panaga: Ordered: miso ramen with an extra egg on the side, chicken karaageTexture on the noodles is firmer than most ramen places which I like over a softer noodle. Some of the best ramen eggs I've had in the Bay Area as well. Karaage was piping hot and well seasoned with good dipping sauces.Wait staff is unobtrusive but diligent. They don't come around like every five seconds to ask how the meal's going, they just get their work done without interrupting your meal.Small tables, a counter, and a couple TVs kinda make it feel like a small noodle bar in a cyberpunk movie, but that's part of the charm. They really make every square foot count.Great place for ramen and great place to hang out solo or with any company!

Court Ranger: Amazing experience and food. I try something new every time and leave a happy full customer. Portions are hearty and quality is top notch.Kid-friendliness: Kid options

Josh Baltazar: One of my friends who went to SJSU recommended this ramen place so we all went to go and try it. A cosy space but nonetheless big enough we got a table for us. I ordered the Japanese Curry Cutlet which is a deep fried breaded pork cutlet topped with mildly spicy pork curry. My friend got the Miso Ramen which is a soy bean flavored broth, topped with wakame and diced fresh tofu. For a drink I got Soju Cocktail and I chose the lychee flavors.

Anupam Tripathi: Food: 5/5

Joel Falcon: We decided to try out Jinya for lunch while searching for a new ramen place. Arriving during off-peak hours helped us skip the crowds, which was a plus. The location is convenient, situated outside the mall near the Cheesecake Factory. The staff welcomed us warmly, and our waiter was attentive and friendly throughout our meal. Our food arrived promptly after ordering, and the flavors were delicious. However, we found the portion sizes to be a bit small given the prices. Despite this, the overall experience was positive, and I would recommend giving Jinya a try.

Hitomi Iwamoto: Ordered Tonkotsu black ramen .I love this skinny but hard texture noodles , I think even harder than Ramen Nagi . But because skinny , good match with creamy soup base !Service also quick and friendly here !

Jason A: mayo.I also haven't seen many places that serve Orion beer which originates from my family's hometown of Okinawa so I order it when I get the craving. The staff here are nice and are pretty accommodating of our kids. When I ask my kid where she wants to eat and she says "Japanese food", she always means that she wants to go here and as a picky eater herself, that's tantamount to a ringing endorsement.Overall, we've found our go-to place for us whenever we just want to go out to eat somewhere that's cozy and familiar.

Sung Cha: Updates: 4/12/24Moeka and Itsuka did amazing to take care of our dinner. I am very satisfied with their service and the food I ordered was top quality; Karaage, Takoyaki, and Ramen noodle soup were all top notch! I would absolutely spread words to my circles to come try! Thank you.Black Garlic Miso! First time ever I’ve ever had this. I tried spicy version, and man, it has nice kick in its broth. Special experience I had, and I would love to come back and try other types.

Ruth Temple: Fabulous broth in these dishes! Delightful, we stopped after seeing the evening cherry blossoms at Hakone Garden; perfect cap to the evening. 🌸🌸🌸Dietary restrictions: I eat GF and had always thought of ramen places as being about the wheat noodles? No, no: it's all about the rich broths, and you can find rice plates or order with no noodles. I went for an appetizer seafood soup with a side of rice and side of kim chi and that made a perfect meal.

G Lee: .The other person had the katsu dim and didn’t like it. She said the meat was all breading. I tried a spoonful and thought it tasted good but maybe she’s right. Also enjoyed a nice small bottle of warmed sake. I have to say, their place had an odd smell. Not sure if it was their cleaning formula or what.

Liz Brizuela: The atmosphere is casual and there is always a long line. The food is really good with a lot of flavor and very delicious!! It also has a variety of drinks, but you have to drink them a little quickly because if you finish eating you have to leave the place. I like the atmosphere, I love the food, but I would like to feel more relaxed and have more time to enjoy my lunch or dinner.

Josie Guerra: Food is comforting, delicious and the quality is consistent. Service is wonderful. They are kind and accommodating with customizing orders.Be aware it will be first come first serve as the location itself is very small. The tables are pretty close to each other, so be ready for that. There is also a countertop option to sit at...You may need to wait in line, so plan accordingly. This place is worth the wait.Kid-friendliness: They are accommodating with customizing food options as some children are picky.Heads up though the location itself is smalland the tables are are very close together. You'll notice very quickly if there are noisy kids

Arthur T: Grew up coming to Kahoo Ramen...first time visiting in 10+ years. I'm glad they survived COVID.I was sad that they updated their menu to phase out their simple shoyu/shio ramens. Two of us ordered:-karaage $9.95, the fried chicken here is still really delicious, must order-yakioni mentaiko $5, crispy rice was good-black garlic miso ramen $14.95, ramen was ok. Not the biggest fan of miso ramen, but not too many options on ramen side nowDefinitely a great spot to eat! Excited to be back to try their other apps/a la carte items.Parking is super tough in the plaza.

Etson Choi: For those people who said the ramen is very salty, either they never tried ramen in Japan or they are less sodium people. The ramen is not salty at all compare the ramen I have tried in Hong Kong and Japan. The soup base is soso but not bad. Soup base doesn’t have strong pork bones flavour or any sign of pork oil/ pork fat which is a minus but other than that, everything is a plus.

Tamika Strain: We have been here several times. The Food is always good and made to order. I recommend the Cucumber Mint Lemonade. The portion VS value is perfect and the service is quality and fantastic. We take a little longer to order our waiter was patient and kind he also had great knowledge of the menue when we ask questions.Vegetarian options: They have a Veggie Ramen packed with yummy options like kirage mushrooms, bean Sprouts, corn, bok choy, spinach, cabbage, tofu, and the veggie broth is delicious.

Leng Ooi: My group ordered katana ramen in shio, shoyu and tonkotsu. Good difference in flavors and the noodles is cooked just right. They have an ala carte topping menu too which looks really interesting for customization. There's sadly no tea or beer when we were there, either they ran out or doesn't serve them. Would have been a perfect ramen experience otherwise.

Lilly Hernandez: Really good 🙂Dine in: Yes Outdoor seating: No Takeout: Yes Delivery: No …

Kelli King: and in the broth.

Zachary Graber: The miso ramen is tasty! I really liked the karaage and gyoza in it.

Anthony Giang: I'm not exactly sure, but when I arrived, the store had a closed sign, yet there were customers inside. Curious, I walked in and to my surprise the chef was ready to take an order. Not wanting to take up too much time, I just ordered some assorted tempura. He spent around 20 minutes making it, understandably slow because he was alone, but he threw in extra pieces to make up for the wait. The tempura was great with a light batter and crunchy exterior and the dipping sauce was the perfect pair.

Isabella Cruz: 11/10!! kind owners and amazing food, will definitely be visiting again!

Sam L: This place is awesome, great food and friendly service, cannot wait to dine in here when things open back up.

Nathaniel Grady: Delicious food. Good quality. But they nickel and dime you, $1 for corn, 1.25 to add spice?! $3 for a little piece of chicken, and $3 for 2 tiny pot stickers in your miso ramen. Food was delicious but $45 for 2 bowls of soup. I will only return if I'm really craving ramen and if I'm nearby.

Izzy Estrada: Was heading up to San Jose for a bowl of ramen and found out this place opened up without me knowing. I was originally on my way to a familiar spot when I decided to check this out. It was a pleasant surprise. The Katana special was very tasty and incredibly filling. I'll definitely be coming back to try out some of their options.

Ben Harris: The spicy beef ramen was really good! I'll definitely be coming back here

Dan Meyer: .If you get anything spicy added, stir well. I thought I had stirred well, but it turned out the bottom half was far spiced than the top.Very little comes in the default dish. No egg, etc. so even though these are listed as extra in the menu, you need to add them to get anything at all.Lastly, #2 spicy is barely spicy at all. If you get Original and actually want it spicy, 2 isn’t going to be enough for you.

Rupinder Matharu: I thought this place was pretty good for Ramen in a mall … in fact it was better than I expected.I got chicken ramen, the soup base was very rich and had a fair level of spice for the spiciest level. I think it had a very good flavor overall for the soup, the noodles could have been a little softer but that may have been me not waiting enough after I received my order. I was pretty full after the regular sized bowl. Overall not bad for $12 for a quick bite while shopping.

R O: Nice ramen !Recommended dishes Karaage, Takoyaki, Tonkotsu Ramen …

Priyal Shah: Amazing vegetarian ramen!Recommended dishes Vegetable Ramen Regular …

Hans Goertz: Decent mall ramen

Claudia Colorado: there is no reason for this place to be so good. I ordered because I had literally dreamt of ramen last night and this place did not disappoint, it was sooooo good and the portions are so worth it, i ate it for lunch and was still full on dinner, and the matcha is delicious too! I wanted to try it with boba but they didn’t have it, still good and only $3, in what other place you find it matcha at that price?? Will most definitely go again, and anyone who reads this, do yourself a favor and order too, too good to be true

Ramen Champ: what do users think?

Eve Lim: Went there a little past 8pm on a Sat night. Saw the staff starting to close part of the restaurant already. There was only 1 other table of 2 customers in the almost empty restaurant. Ordered the deep fried oysters and ramen. Wanted to try the ramen with Yuzu broth but when I enquired with the waiter if I’ll be able to taste the Yuzu, he said I won’t. Thought that is strange to have a description on the menu of broth having Yuzu taste but in actuality won’t taste it🤔 So I ended up going with his recommendation of one with chicken and pork base broth instead. Food was served fast. Oysters looked kinda over-fried as the batter looked rather dark, but tasted fine. The ramen noodle had a nice chewy texture and the broth tasted ok but nothing impressive. I wanted to try their ramen as I saw the pics online that they were chunky pieces of pork belly vs the usual thinly sliced ones. It is served chunky but it wasn’t as tender as I had hoped for. The taste was standard typical ramen taste except noodles were more chewy than most other ramen places. My friend had the Buta-ramen which had minced garlic, lots of bean sprouts and an egg which I noticed was a hard boiled egg and not soft boiled. I probably wouldn’t go out of my way to dine here again since I can get better tasting ramen elsewhere.

JM Wu: The pork chop rice here is also highly recommended! The pork chops are tender on the inside and crispy on the outside and delicious!PS: If you like my comments, you can follow them~I will take photos of the appearance and color of the food I saw on site and present it to everyone. I will go to various places to discover delicious food and unique places! !I wish everyone’s wishes come true!

Divij Patil: I visit this place at least once a month for the curry rice and karage chicken. Good food.

El T: when you order.

Elijah “Japs” Espino: . The karaage is super crunchy and flavored well. The takoyaki has alot of stuff on it that mixed well, and the octopus inside was not sparce. The food was served in 15 mins

Melfina Viengsombat: It was very busy when we walked up and there was a line out the door. It was very lively and very tasty. Every ingredient in my ramen tasted good and the gyoza and karage were crispy hot and fresh. If you are walking by just pop in and take a smell. The broths were cooked with care and had a good balance.Recommended dishes Spicy Miso Ramen, Gyoza …

Murali Manohar Pai: Spicy miso ramen was good and pork was juicy.A quiet place and self service.

DENNIS TE: Ordered the spicy miso pork ramen. Not too spicy and surprisingly semi sweet. Definitely fulfilling. Had a side of California rolls. Yum. Located downtown so lots of places to do after having dinner and some sake.

Amo Kiwi: this place is literally so good, came in skeptical after a long day of skating and biking. Hit so hard. Customer service was amazing, food came out hot and perfectly cooked. Definitely coming back here again tomorrow.

Gemma Padilla: Service is friendly and fast. The food is to DIE for!!! It's so DELICIOUS! I really enjoyed my meal very much. I really want to go back already for try other options on their menu 💜

Howard Lin: Visited my GFs family in the bay area and wanted to stop by for some ramen and this was one of the closer places. The atmosphere was very clean, the service was very fast and responsive, and the food was EXCELLENT. I'm picky with ramen becuase most places can't nail their broths. The tonkatsu broth here was light with good flavor, the pork rib in it was tender and the meat fell apart easily. We had the fried oysters too and shared a bunch of the BBQ options. Very good value, great portions, and everything was made without taking forever. Would come back

SOJO Ramen: what do users think?

Andrew: Great Japanese noodle & rice bowl place! Most dishes tastes really good and fairly authentic.I recommend the rice bowl more than the noodles. The curry chicken katsu is really good. The combination of the two flavors tastes fantastic. Price & portion is good as well.Wouldn't recommend their appetizers, very small portions for their price.

S D S: SOJO Ramen is undoubtedly the finest establishment we've visited. The atmosphere exudes beauty and tranquility. The attentive and genuinely caring staff elevate the experience significantly. Their cuisine is exceptional, and considering the price point, they excel. Our inaugural visit left us utterly captivated, particularly by the incomparable Butter Miso, which keeps us returning for more.

J S: I recently visited this place because I wanted some Ramen I came in and was warmly greeted and told that the menu is online and we order from our phone the service was very prompt and the food was given very fast even after ordering in less than 15 minutes. When the food came it was some of the best ramen I had ever tasted and I have actually come back more than three times already because of the great service and good food it is a little pricey with Ramen starting at $20 but it is very well worth the money they have a variety of flavors that I have never tried and never heard of but I have tried at least three already from coming back highly recommend if you like Ramen and Japanese foodParking: Plenty of parking in front of the restaurant and the surrounding area

Sathiyan Kutty: First time coming here in a Friday evening and the food was excellent. Just one or two vegetarian options but worth it.Try the black garlic sauce vegetarian ramen. It's heavenly.Vegetarian options: Only a few dishes but worth it.

Gene Horecka: Always a top choice - I frequently order from here. As someone who's half Japanese and has experience working in a ramen shop, I really value great taste and affordability, and this place delivers on both fronts. My favorites are the Tonkotsu ramen and chashu don. I would suggest larger and fattier chunks of chashu in the chashu don, although it's delicious as is. I also wish they marinated their soft boiled eggs to enhance the flavor further. The attention to detail is clear - they truly know their craft. Overall, considering both price and quality, it’s the best you can find in Fremont.

Marissa Chinn: . They also have a Mala ramen that I haven't seen on other menus

Kasey Caldwell: Ghidorah! Ramen fit for a 3 headed golden dragon.Vegetarian options: The cabbage slaw salad is excellent. Also, the eggplant is reminiscent of roasted sweet potatoes.Dietary restrictions: Customization options are available, such as choosing rice noodles or having less salt.Parking: It's in a spacious parking lot with many other eating places.Kid-friendliness: It's nice and cozy, which looks ideal for 4 people.Wheelchair accessibility: Looks easy enough to roll up to their small tables.

Attosa Tavallai: Very good, especially when comparing to other options in the Sunnyvale area where it's kinda slim pickins. My mum is Japanese and would approve of the food here, although not give it a 5-star rating as I am doing. Mine is actually a 4.75 but let's be sweet today. The pork donburi was delicate in flavour and hit the spot. Wish the egg wasn't icy cold. The fried stickers were a bit too fried. The karaage was PERFECT and so was the takoyaki. Great decor and noise level. Guy waiting on us was ace!

DaLaiLaMa King: The clams and soup of the clam noodles are very averageThe big bowl is really bigThe balls are delicious

Hitomi Iwamoto: The soup base is very thick, they are not use the normal chashu ,but the stewed meat is very soft and tender. Here famous ones is seafood like claims, shrimp ramen.tried claims before , but still thinking pork with ramen is the perfect match !Service is fast and nice .

Erin Zhang: Best ramen in Sunnyvale

Dandelion: Came for dinner on Valentine's. I liked my seafood ramen, which had unclear broth base nevertheless tasted with scallops, clams and shrimp in it. You can substitute regular ramen with Konnyaku yam to be keto friendly with an extra $1.50. Tonkatsu ramen had delicious soup base that tasted like pork. However, the heavily bread-crumbed Chicken Karaage, though tasted and tender inside, was not very good because the batter was too thick.Small space and intimate vibe. Table was cramped and not too comfortable.Service was friendly and attentive.Recommend their ramens.

Kyle Pace: Take away the trend and take away the frills that are present in many of the modern ramen restaurants. This restaurant represents the fundamentals of what makes a great Ramen shop.My family had three different soup basis -- Shio, shoyu, and the house. All were pretty tasty. The fried rice was just as good as the soup! Go for the combo you won't regret it.We'll be back when we're in the area.

Jose Jose: Woooo love this placee!! Gyoza and fried rice are mustttttsss

George Trio: is large enough for two hungry adults, or two children and one adult. Highly recommend Men-Bei for their Japanese comfort food.Kid-friendliness: They offer kids plating for sharing their large meals, and a booster seats.

Mayuko S: We stopped by on our way of our trip from San Francisco, for we were craving Japanese ramen. Both customer service and atmosphere were excellent, needless to say the food! I usually can't finish all and make it to go but there I had all at once!! Hehe we'll definitely be back when we travel to NoCal again! The atmosphere of the store was nice and the staff were kind, making me feel like I was back in Japan. The ramen was very delicious. Shun Chen: We had great spicy tsukemen, the noodles were generous portions and excellent. I saw other reviews that they couldn’t tell if it’s open… it is definitely open but very empty probably because it was take out only. I’d definitely come back again.

Karvin Dassanayake: This place is not closed at all!Wonderful ramen broth with great cuts of meat. I wandered here during a lunch break since I was craving some ramen, and it did not disappoint. They’re currently doing takeout only, but the lovely couple took pity on me for needing to bike back to my office with a bag of ramen so they let me eat inside. This place seems to be missing the office lunch crowd, and is surprisingly quiet for the quality of food. Would recommend anyone check this out since it’s pretty good ramen for the price. Will definitely be coming again!

Mitchell Davies: The outside looks like it's under construction but they're still open!Their takoyaki tasted very fresh and was the best I've ever had from a restaurant.
