4worldlovers: I completed medical school and my internship in India before my residency training in psychiatry at Nassau University Medical center, New York. I have also worked in adult psychiatry in inpatient, consultation-liaison, urgent care and outpatient settings in California before joining Kaiser Permanente in 2007. I have worked with patients with concurrent mental illness and substance use. I am certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in psychiatry and psychosomatic medicine.

I chose to come to Kaiser Permanente because of their commitment to integrated care and preventive medicine, with a deep focus on achieving the best quality and outcomes for each patient. Our department has a wonderfully skilled and caring group of clinicians, who are committed to bringing outstanding care to every patient with a collaborative approach for each patient.

I enjoy working with my patients and their families and being a partner in their recovery from mental illness. I also encourage maintaining a healthy lifestyle with diet, exercise and emotional well-being. It is very important to me that I have a customized treatment plan for each one of my patients so that they obtain maximum benefits from their care, including medications. I enjoy working with patients representing all aspects of psychiatry, but my special interests include mood disorders, post traumatic stress disorder, anxiety disorders, consultation and liaison psychiatry which interfaces psychiatric disorders in medical settings.

At this clinic, we offer a wide variety of services, including medications, individual and group therapy, crisis services and intensive outpatient care. We also offer education classes for health and wellness for both patients and families. I believe being an active participant in your care is essential for recovery and encourage a collaborative approach in treatment. I believe that achieving and maintaining mental health should be a collaborative process between a patient and their mental health provider. You are an expert on your own experiences, the symptoms you are feeing and what has helped you to feel emotionally well in the past. We can then bring our expertise on various forms of mental health treatment, and together with you determine the treatment, or combination of treatments, that may work best for you.
