Art School of SF Bay (San Jose): what do users think?

Wenjun Han: I took Academic Drawing class since January and I enjoyed every moment here! The class is beginner friendly and my teacher Andrew helps me a lot on refining my drawing details. Highly recommend the class to people who wants to establish new habit of drawing.

Sachmo9: I took Manga drawing classes with Andrew during the Fall '23 semester. I didn't hesitate when my Dad asked if I wanted to sign up again. Andrew is very talented, he can make awesome drawings in no time at all. He is a good teacher that sees flaws in my drawing and corrects them. Plus he is fun to work with.

Инна Чебаненко: I am so happy I found this studio recently! I visited it few times and I already have a huge progress in my painting! I want to give a special thank you to Teacher Anna! Her professionalism, extensive knowledge, and genuine kindness make each class a joy. She patiently guides, creating a comfortable space that boosts confidence. Grateful for the artistic journey she has enriched for me. Highly recommend!

Saumya Trivedi: This was one of my best Birthday Present! Loved and Enjoyed each and every moment of the class. Sara was amazing, meticulous and very patient as a teacher. I took it for the Spring of 2023 and learned a lot. I would recommend anyone to take these classes if you want to learn some new skills!

sabtn1: My husband and I took the Adult Art class with Sara S. for 12 weeks during Fall 2022. We thoroughly enjoyed our class with her. She would start the class with a small lecture and demo and then release us to try on our own. Then she would walk around to assist and provide tips for us to improve. This is where she really exceled! She was great at analyzing our paintings and trouble areas and getting us on the right path quickly. For my first art class ever in my life, I have gained a greater appreciation for artists now. Sara is also very calming and chill in her mannerism, and she would hum a gentle tune as she helps us.We learned many different types and techniques. We learned about the skeletal structure and the body shapes and perspectives. We learned vanishing points, scale, shading, and proportions. We also got to draw a live model. It was a fun and relaxing atmosphere. Highly recommend!

Sajani Sheth: I have been going to the Adults Oil and Acrylic painting class for about a year. Teacher Maria is very knowledgeable about various art styles and techniques and has teached us the Old Masters, Impressionism, Hyperrealism and other styles of painting. I definitely see an improvement in my painting and look forward to class each week.

Azhar A: My 12 years old daughter is a student at the Art School of SF Bay. She has been going there for about 6 months now. Her teacher, Maria, is an incredible artist and an awesome teacher.

Yichen: Instructors are very helpful, insightful, considerate, and responsive. Highly recommend the classes here!

Michael Pomerantsev: My 9 yo daughter absolutely loves art classes at Art School of SF Bay, San Jose. She is always very excited about her weekly art classes.

Gouri K: I joined Art School at SF bay for the Adult drawing class...I must say I thoroughly enjoyed every day of the course. Was also able to learn quite a few complex concepts and was pleasantly surprised to see the art work I made at the end of the class...I could make good progress with my skill set and am more confident about it than before.Highly recommend!

Jia Dailey: , which is much closer to us. If you are looking for some high quality art classes for young kids, I strongly recommend Art School of SF Bay.

sandra jaimes: I could not be happier with this school, my daughter, she is 15 years old, tried two different schools before Art School of SF Bay, she loves drawing but on the previous schools I didn’t see any progress or motivation at all, since she started here she has improved big deal and she loves her teacher too, I highly recommend this school.

NNV NNV: Works well for my kid, both on-line and in-person. Very happy to see this place offering in person classes!

Shushanik Ayvazyan: Positive Quality, Professionalism

Igor #: My 6 y.o. daughter takes art classes with miss Maria every Sunday and we couldn't be happier with her progress! We also appreciate their make up policy.

Young Art Lessons: what do users think?

Jeff Atterbury: This place is fantastic! They have such a variety of both classic and modern art instruction. They are very organized, enthusiastic staff, and skilled counselors who are very attentive to the kids. Also, very reasonably priced. My kid has done 3-D printing and digital animation on an iPad. Wonderful instructors helped him the whole time. I love this place! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Yana Routshtein: Our kids love this place! The staff is very friendly and attentive. We enjoy coming back every time.

Natasha Fulcher: Visiting from out of town and decided to drop my 6 year old off for a lesson. The staff were soo welcoming and my kiddo had a great time. He is so happy with the painting he did and said he learned a lot. Really wish this place had more locations or that we were closer!!

Mohan Venkatesh: They really teach for kids very good knowledge they are really sweet with kids

Judy Nguyen: My 5yo loves this place. We’ve been a few times. This time we decided to take my 2yo too. The lady at the register said great for any age, and if under 3 they ask that I stay with her. Fine. So I did. Granted it’s a holiday and there were a LOT of kids but they had some teachers and when we were there our one teacher was teaching 8 students graciously and sweetly. And then her relief came. The relief person asked what age my younger kid was and said “we recommend 3 and up. Ideally 4. Bc it’s just too hard on us teachers.bc it’s just too difficult” as I’m the one painting with my child. And helping her. She wasn’t disrupting the other kids she was just doing her own 2 year thing! She could have even just pointed tot he image we were trying to do and I would have finished the black outline myself. This new teacher needs an attitude adjustment. She started her shift and was already not in a great moodMy 5 year old said she was ok after we left just rushed through her artwork. She had another 30 minutes on her own. She helped her finish her painting and made a bracelet. I’m only giving a higher ranking bc the original teacher was helpful and nice. More of the teachers should be like her, she had a pixie cut and glasses.

Justin Beck: My shy 5 year old was instantly warmed up by the staff's welcoming approach. Allow your child the time here! You will appreciate their soft approach to bring out your child's inner talent. Excellent setup with lots of supplies and inspiration. We'll be back!

Richard Vila: Very courteous staff. Fun time for the kids and some walk around time for parents. Great combination. If you’re kids are into art, they have a variety of levels for beginners to more advanced.

Stacy Avery: My granddaughter truly enjoyed herself so much that I signed her up for more hours!!

C Han: Positive Quality

CalColor Academy: what do users think?

Lengleng Fang: I highly recommend Calcolor Academy, where there are very professional and responsible teachers, Alvin, Sean, Joseph…… ... My daughter has made great progress every year after studying here for three years. Her works created in CCA Summer Camp won the Golden Key Award in the School Artistic & Writing Awards, which helped her to prepare a strong Art portfolio for applying for a university. This year, she was admitted to her favorite university. Thanks to Calcolor.

Sayali Kale: Cal color is a great place to learn art techniques and create amazing pieces of art. They offer summer programs which I love to attend and learn so much from. I have loved the summer camps since I was 10 and Cal Color was established. These summer camps include a lot of fun time to draw, as well as breaks where kids can play in the local park. At the end of each camp is a showcase where kids can show their parents the amazing art that they made. The teachers like Mr. Alvin, Ms. Connie, and Ms. Hoai -My, and many many more make the summer camps super fun, engaging, and exciting. I have created many pieces during these camps that have won many awards for the Scholastic Art and Writing Competition that Cal Color helps students participate in.

L D: Calcolor is a very professional art academy for kids to go deeper into the field of visual art. All teachers hold an art degree from recognizable or top art schools, such as the Central Academy of Fine Art in China. At the same time it is also a place for kids to have fun. They have variety of topics from sketch, painting to digital. It is easy for kids to explore and find their true passions. My daughter started at a summer camp and has been with the academy for two years. I can see her growth almost every week. Every teacher who she has been with, Mr. Alvin, Mr. Sean, Ms. Michelle and Mr. Chao are so kind, knowledgeable and devoted. You can tell their great passion in both art and teaching! Highly recommended!

Mlaerok: Calcolor Academy is a fantastic place to learn art at all levels. I have been in a variety of classes such as the painting class and portfolio development class, with great teachers such as Mr. Chao and Mr. Alvin. Additionally, I would also recommend the summer camp classes. I have personally won an award from Scholastic's Art and Writing competition for an artwork made during Calcolor's summer camp.

天下无双: For the past three years, my daughter has flourished in her drawing classes at Calcolor Fremont. With the talented Mr. Alvin and Joseph as her instructors, her artistic skills have truly blossomed. This dedication was recognized at the scholastic art and writing competition, where she received a silver award last year and a gold award this year! Sincerely appreciate Calcolor’s professional guidance!

June Chen: Ms. Connie from the Newark campus is awesome. She is very inspiring and patient to the kids. My daughter loves her!

Jiajia Wang: When the pandemic started in 2020, both my daughters attended Calcolor’s online classes with Mr. Alvin. Then when Calcolor started to offer in person class again, we found out Mr. Alvin has PD class in Calcolor Fremont that will work for our high schooler’s busy schedule, even Fremont was bit of far for us, we decided to join. My older daughter has been going to the PD class in Fremont for a year now, she enjoyed the classes very much. Mr. Alvin is super fun, creative and inspiring. While taking the PD class at Calcolor, my daughter attended the scholastic art and writing contests 2021 and 2023, her works have gotten three silver key and one gold key regional awards. One thing I love about Calcolor PD class by Mr. Alvin is that his class doesn’t just teach skills and techniques, more importantly, there is aways an ongoing open dialogue to encourage students to explore and express new ideas and find new passion. I would highly recommend Calcolor, PD class and Mr. Alvin.

Anna Cao: My daughter has been learning here at least 3 years. She got the silver key in Scholastic this year. So proud of her. She is learning drawing and AP. Her instructor is Alvin and Rain.

Yuee Feng: My daughter took Ms. Rain's PD prep class and improved tremendously. She loved her teacher and said Ms. Rain spent lots of time helping each individual student.

Jingyu Kang: My kid has been attending cal color for a year now and he loves it!

Shalini Sasidharan: Great place ! Son has learned so much from here ; will be putting my daughter here when she turns 4

Grace Wang: My daughter has been learning art here for 6 years. She started at exploration, then foundation, advancement, Elite Advancement, now at PD Prep drawing. The teachers here are all fantastic! She’s had Yishu, Alvin, Rain and others as teachers, we loved each one of them. Now she is taking classes from Mr. Sean. Mr. Sean is absolutely great, too! He takes the time to learn about the student. He is encouraging but never stops giving the best feedback and help so the kids can keep growing in their skills. We are so thankful to have Mr. Sean!

Jinfeng Cai: Our two daughters signed to Mr. Alvin’s Elite classes at Fremont location. This is the best program our daughter ever had. They both improved drawing amazingly!

Ya-Ting Shen: the most critical technique to observe the objects and how to use watercolor bring the object alive on our artwork. Everyone was so proud of their artwork at the end. The entire class was also like a art therapy, fun and very relaxing after a long day at work. I highly recommend CalColor for its profession in arts and passion in teaching.

Hsiang-Chen Lee: to CalColor Academy Half Day Summer Camp. Kids spent 5 half days to complete 3 projects. Kids enjoyed the class and felt accomplishment with these projects. In addition, the instructors at the end of camp will give their observation and future advice to parents/students. This is a good opportunity for kids to improve their art skills in the summer.

Rui Zhang: My daughter has been studying at Cal Color since she was four. The curriculum is very structured and each lesson is inspired by the work of an artist. Kids learn the skills as well as how to appreciate art. We had lots of fun there.

CD's Art Studio: what do users think?

Ak: Recently attended a birthday party here for my daughter's classmate and we had an amazing and fun time. CD was very kind, funny, and professional. I'm hoping to bring my daughter back here again in the near future.

James Laffen: My family has had two separate events at CD’s Art Studio. My daughters 5th birthday party and a holiday ornament class. My daughters still talk about their experience from over a year ago. All of the kids and adults that attended had a wonderful time! I highly recommend hosting an event with CD’s Art Studio and CD the owner is amazing!

Danielle Drew: We've booked numerous camps and birthday parties and after school visits with CD. She's a great instructor with lots of projects to choose from, and great at working with kids.

Tammy McGowan: This place is awesome! I love everyone there, all the teachers were so nice. And the process is really smooth! I loved it so much I became a helper!!

Mark Isaksen: I have two young children 6 and 8, that absolutely love Art Bash. They have created so many great pieces of art, we are running out of wall space in our home. I highly recommend this studio. We had my daughter's birthday here too and everybody had a great time!Mark Isaksen

Visionary Arts: what do users think?

Yan Tan: I was trying to find a art class for my 9 years old daughter, we tried few places and finally stay with this school. Teacher Helen and other teachers are so nice, they are good on both skills and teaching, they teach students individually and everyone got good attention. School provides high quality supplies, like drawing paper, canvas, oil paint color, water color, acrylic, color pencils, etc. When my daughter taking class, I don’t want to wait outside and do nothing, the school takes adult students too. I am my daughter’s classmate now, and I am so happy to draw and paint there, that was my best time ever. After 8 month study and practice, both my daughter and I got some progress and we will keep learning here.

Irene Shu: , which allowed for the instructs to teach the students one on one. An instructor would draw the subject together with my son, which really is the best way for children to learn how to draw. I was so impressed by the progress my son make in her studio. But I felt like the biggest impact was on me personally. All my life, I wanted to get better at drawing. I wanted to get better at using color pencils. I wanted t get better at understanding color, how to choose color, identify the color, and conceive the color. I have often felt that I was too old or it was too late for me to learn art. Now an adult, I finally found the teacher who can help me attain that. Her level of empathy was astronomical. She could not only pinpoint where I was frustrated but also what to do about it. She would tell me to "learn to enjoy the process" and not simply to focus on the output. I was drawn to her passion and energy and her warmth and encouragement. She not only loves teaching her craft but also building up her students as well. "Keep practicing! We are always learning and getting better!" she would say "Nothing can stop us from creating art!"Under quarantine, Teacher Helen has been streaming her classes and has added more classes to include watercolor, multi media art, and digital art, a class that I am taking as well. The biggest progress I'd seen was when I attended her Color Pencil Art Challenge class. Teacher Helen wisely advised that participating in art challenges really pushes you to improve your skill. Under her guidance, I was able to win the August 2020 Color Pencil Magazine

Ting W: The teacher is nice and patient. My daughter learned really fast.

Minna Xu: Great place! I like the environment. And teachers are professional and very kind.

Zheng Fu: Helen is a Great teacher!

Min Tan: Visionary Arts is a great place to learn drawing. My son is 7 years old, he enjoys learning there so much.

Jing Huang: and day camps

Wendy H: This is the best art studio so far I have seen in this area. Clean and bright, teachers are very passionate and professional. My daughter likes drawing very much. She went to another studio earlier for a couple of years but found out later that some studio are too commercial and the guidance is not enough for her desire of improvement. She quitted for half an year at six until we found this studio, this is exact what we want. I have visited many studios but feel this is best suitable for my daughter. Teachers are nice and guide her very well. Studio is not big but it gives you flexible way to learn as you desire. For young kids like my daughter, she can learn the famous painters' inspiring spirituality also the skill set of real drawing. She so likes here. I would highly recommend it to anyone.

Shirley Huang: Great teacher, great learning experience! Thank you!
