The sight of the moon rising and the sun setting down was one for the books. Tom Jacopi: This is very popular with mtn bikers, and some trail runners. The basic loop is 8mi with no significant sustained climbing so riders of most fitness levels can do it. It’s a wider single track trail which is a good width for beginning and intermediate bikers. The reason it’s not 5 stars is that it’s not pretty. Some ok views, but nothing special. If your a hiker, it’s not a bad loop, but be prepared for *lots* of bikes.

Michael Johnson: Visited on Public holiday Wait time No wait

Doris Chang: A lot of bikers and a lot of dust. Hikers remember wear a thin mask to avoid the dust.

Joan Marshall: Great mountain biking trails.

Underhillジン: Insanely beautiful. Beautiful wildflowers in the spring. The Sycamores leaves turn a bright yellow in the fall and the green grass starts to pop up again after the rains. Lots of beautiful multicolored mossy rocks. One of the only parks where you can see what the flatland is supposed to look like in our ecosystem. Very welcoming. Free parking, The only downside is they close too early to see a sunset or the stars.

Richard G: Overall, great park for the South Bay. Wonderful views of the South Bay and lots of looping trails. Could easily kill a full day here.Plenty of parking here. This particular parking lot also has horse trailer parking.Trails are mostly exposed with tree cover here and there. Bring plenty of water regardless of the time of year.Climbs on certain trails can be really steep.Would not recommend this park for strollers or those with small kids.

Ceal Craig: Walk along the levees, good birding spot most months of year, especially October to June. Uplands trail too. Education center has excellent public programs in weekends. During week, educational events with schools. So close to high tech and peaceful, fills my need for space and nature

Sean Callanan: We tend to go to this park during the winter holidays when the visitor center is closed and you can count thee other visitors on two hands. This is a very natural park with beautiful salt marshes and many varieties of birds. It can get a tad windy though so bring an extra layer of clothes!

James C: Nature is perfect. Big park. Well travelled. Lots of activity. Walkers, runners, bikes, picnic area. Lots of hills and trails and trees and a creek. Deer, rabbits, squirrels, bobcat, lizards. There is a farm that has goats and cows.Part of the trail was closed. Think it's because of the rain. Check the website before you go

Daniel Palmans: Very nice place to hike. The trail is about 4 miles long and very easy to hike and bike. It is also very quiet no car noises, just natureVisited on Weekday Wait time No wait Reservation recommended No …

Shauna: This was a very peaceful place to hike. I went in late April, on a Sunday middayParking/ Restroom/SeatingThere was plenty of parking when I arrived and when I left. There is a restroom at the parking lot as well as some benches at the trailhead and before the trail gains any elevation.TrailsThere is one main loop trail that you can hike either way, but if you’re biking you have to follow the signage as you can only travel clockwise or counterclockwise depending on the month. The trail was easy to follow with occasional trail posts with mileage. Some poop on the trail but other than that it is fairly flat and easy to navigate. You can also see cows and horses here.I would come back.

Megan Fontenot: Just did a hike at Coyote Valley Open Space Reserve and wow, what a cool change of pace! This place is a hidden gem for anyone looking to swap city noise for some nature vibes. The trails here are super well-maintained. We even got caught in a bit of rain, but the path stayed clear and wasn’t slippery at all, which was a huge plus. One thing that really stood out was how clean the restroom facilities were. It’s not something you always find in nature spots, so definitely appreciated. And if you’re driving in, no stress about parking – there’s plenty of space. Now, heads up if you’re not into farm smells – the reserve is downwind from some cow pastures. It wasn’t a big deal for us, but if you’re sensitive to that kind of thing, just something to keep in mind. All in all, Coyote Valley Open Space Reserve is a great spot for a hike. The views are awesome, the paths are easy to walk, and it’s just a really nice place to get some fresh air and stretch your legs. Whether you’re a regular hiker or just looking for something different to do, this place is worth a visit.

David H. Gleit (Gedawei 葛大為): Visited twice in one week in January 2024. I really like this place - it’s easily accessible from the freeway, yet after a few minutes of hiking, you feel you’re in some classic California backcountry. Rolling hills that are turning green with the rain, with creeks flowing, and a bunch of beautiful yellow-billed magpies who seem to reside there regularly. And I spotted at least five deer grazing together on a nearby hill. I’ll be back.

Chetan Pangam: One of favorite hike. Absolutely enjoy this hike whether group hike or solo hike. I believe it is very much doable for everyone. The elevation is around 900ft so not so tiring. You can see mountain bikers and people with pets on your way. It gets little bit muddy after rain. The good part is you start the hike from downtown Los Gatos. So when you finish the hike, you can have nice coffee or brunch.
