I was on a trip back home and had a 3 hour drive ahead of me and had he not helped me out, I wouldn’t have made it home and blew my transmission. He got me in and out in hour. Brian Tanaka: My truck wasn’t shifting right and then the check engine light came on. I was pretty sure I was going to need a new transmission or a rebuild.They were able to diagnose the problem was only a couple sensors. I really appreciate the honest work.
David Fish: Went to get my front brake rotors resurfaced on a lowered car with aftermarket wheels: Friendly staff, decent turnover time, competitive labor rates, used correct practices for tightening important nuts and bolts. I wasn't sure about how my brembo brake calipers were left hanging on the brake hoses, but I suspect they didn't want to damage the finish. 4 stars only because I would like to not see my rubber brake lines being supported by my heavy brake calipers, but I'll give credit where it's due as far as putting care into my car looks the same coming out as it did going in. They even bed in the brake pads a little before I left, which not all places have done for me. I would consider coming back for more future maintenance visits.

Marcus Morroc-Bey: Akin’s Auto Repair has cemented itself as our new auto-repair shop.For some context, we called in on a Tuesday to inquire about an inspection on our vehicle. He told us it would be fine to bring it in the next day, so we did. We expressed we were on a tight timeline, as we had to leave for a road trip the following Friday. Akin and his mechanics were able to fix all of the problems on the car despite having a limited staff, but they didn’t stop there. They proceeded to fix things we didn’t even know needed to be fixed, practically free of charge. They realigned our car, installed new towers, and more. All of the work was done with high-quality parts amounting to far below the industry standard.Going to car shops can be anxiety-inducing as someone with no car knowledge. Car mechanics frequently prey on the inexperienced. However, my experience at Akin’s starkly contrasted prior experiences I’ve had. I will be going here for the rest of my time in the Bay Area.

Momo: Tried Akins Mechanic for the first time and I’m seriously impressed. The mechanic keeps it 100% real - no beating around the bush. You bring in your car, he tells you straight up what’s wrong. After dealing with some questionable mechanics in Palo Alto, Akins was a breath of fresh air. A friend recommended them, and I’m glad I listened. He even told me my brakes were fine and didn’t need work, but advised when to check them again. Ended up fixing the squeal in the brakes, and it was done quickly at a fair price. Definitely my go-to mechanic now.

Danny Thornton: After taking our Jag to Wheel Works for an oil change and a lifetime alignment, I had to take it to Leale's because of the incompetence of the service adviser at Wheel Works.When there is an issue with a vehicle, the advisor is supposed to point it out. Every time I would ask, he would mumble something and walk away. So, instead of dealing with incompetence, I sought out a better option. Leale's was within walking distance and was able to get the car in quickly. Little did I know the true issues with the car.When I purchased this car, I bought an extended warranty through CarMax, and I am so glad now. The car had a lot of "little" issues that turned out to be expensive issues because it is a Jag, and the warranty requires Jag parts.Jim and Tyler were both fantastic. Jim spearheaded the conversations with the car warranty company, and he got more than 80% of the repairs covered. While it took longer than I would have liked, that is another issue with owning a Jag.So, let me say it this way. If you have an issue with your car, regardless of the make or model, call these guys. They are phenomenal, and they will take good care of you. We are now customers for life.

He told me the car was reset to have the transmission back to normal. I was so happy for that. Jim is very friendly and professional providing great customer service. Jerry Hong: My 2001 Town&Country transmission had a breakdown. Other shops I called said I have to wait for some time. Jim from Leale's Transmissions took it immediately to diagnose. They found the TCM is the problem but they cannot find the part because my van is too old. I found one on eBay. Jim let me take the van back home without charging me while I was waiting for shipping. Came in the lobby, filled out a quick form, and just hung out in the lobby for about 30 minutes. This place is nice and clean with classical music playing in the background which was relaxing. I’ve been here like ten years ago once so I decided to come back. I recommend this place because it’s organized, well managed,and just listening to the employees interacting with each other and customers, you can tell they’re very professional. Bringing in your car for anything can be daunting because you hope for the best and fear for the worst but this place eases your mind.

Ta Da: These folks are AWESOME. My husband and I can usually fix most of whatever is going on with our Honda, but we encountered something unknown and needed help. We called and they said they couldn't work on it immediately but to bring it in and take a look anyway. While checking things out, one of the mechanics noticed a little oil leak we didn't see and tightened it up real quick for us too. We were told to bring her back Wednesday, given a wonderful price quote for the labor and we're feeling much less stressed out about the entire thing. You can buy your own engine oil if you want and they will charge only $30 for labor cost, which is very comforting! I bring my vehicles in anytime I want to make sure they are working fine and they are an extremely efficient and ethical business. I trust them with any make or model. I speak with Johnny here, but they are all wonderful and HONEST people at this establishment, which is very refreshing knowing that a company exists that will only charge you for repairs they discover ❤️. One time I brought my vehicle in because I thought something could be wrong with it and they checked it and said it is working fine FREE OF CHARGE! I LOVE THIS PLACE AND THE PEOPLE THAT WORK HERE! Jasmine Basco: My tire popped in Pleasanton on my way home from San Jose. AAA was not able to tow me back 90 miles away at 11pm on a Sunday evening so I got towed back to SJ. I called around the following morning looking for a specific run flat tires for my S550 and I reached Craig who was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about my needs. He provided me with a response in a timely manner and was also very accommodating in multiple ways. He was willing to match a cheaper price I found with another shop but most importantly, he was patient with me as my tow took 5 hours to get my car to his shop and yet, he was willing to continue to assist me with the change of my tires at 5pm even though they close around that time. Overall, I was pleased with the service that this shop provided and also had my 245 20inch wheels to get me back on the road safely with my two hour drive home. I went to my long time mechanic in San Carlos and he told me that my compressor wasn’t working, that it would take him two days to replace the compressor and it would cost me approximately $ 1,300 to $ 1,400. Since I use my car for work, I decided to call Alvin’s Auto Center in Willow Glen and get a second opinion. I spoke with their service advisor, Michael, who is a very kind person and graciously listened to my story. Michael also explained that they’d need to do their own diagnostic test on my car’s AC and, if it was the compressor, they could finish my car in one day if I arrived at their shop early in the morning.Thank goodness I went to Alvin’s Auto Center! They checked my AC and I learned that my compressor was okay - the issue was a relay - a part that cost approximately $ 28.00. Alvin’s Auto Center saved me over $ 1,000! I appreciated their honesty and quality work. I will definitely be going back to them to work on my car in the future.

Laura Carroll: My very old and very worn Lexus 350 was making noises from the rear of the car. I needed help quickly, and was able to get an appointment the next day for a diagnostic test. I was pleased to meet Mike, who was expecting me, and the office was neat, clean, and comfortable. Mike got on the test immediately and in a few hours sent me an exhaustive evauluation of the car, complete with photos of the problems and video and sound of the wheel issue. It is difficult to doubt or argue with such explicit evidence of malfunction. Mike and Alvin both were friendly, professional and courteous. I'd take my car to them again.

The staff immediately noticed that my front left tire was so worn that you could see the wire in the tire. This led me to tow the car to two different automakers, who diagnosed a problem with the car's computer and recommended I take it to a Lexus dealership.I took it to the dealership, and they charged me around $270 for the diagnosis, $500 to change the battery, and $11,000 to change the whole computer of the car. That's crazy. I and the dealer guy agreed that the car was junk at that time. I was so depressed because of the car; it's been one month since then.Alvin Autoshop is my last hope. Tony is such a nice guy. He waited for me 30 minutes after the shop's closing time to help me check in for the car. After that, the procedure was very transparent, step by step. He answered all the questions and gave me solutions for such a complex case. Finally, after 3 weeks, he and his team fixed it with around $3000 for the part and $2500 for almost 3 weeks of work with the car, which was very reasonable.Last thing, thank you so much to Tony and his team; I definitely recommend it to anyone who has trouble with the car.
