Camila Osorio: Cool peephole movies in an allley. True SF
Zach: Bit over hyped.
Jesse Lasley: Great spot!
Andrew Middleton: It's a peephole!
D H: Visited this late at night when I heard about it from a visiting artist from Mexico. Funny how someone visiting told us about something new in our own neighborhood of ten years! Really fun experience being in the alley and finding this mini silent cinema. I’m not really sure who the haters are that reviewed this poorly. Art like this is generous.
A B: Stopped by after reading about this on Atlas Obscura. Worth a walk-by for the novelty.

Cedric Moore: Nice intimate cinema
Marcello Lanfranchi: Great sound and projection.
James Seechurn: Great cinema
Art Siegel: Premiere art house, always a great experience.
Paola Rossaro: First time back after the pandemic! The theater was empty but the movie was good! "I'm your man"
Andrey Kurenkov: Pretty basic small cinema, nothing special but seating and screens are good.
David Crane: They have improved the seating. It's like sitting in your favorite easy chair. Usually great independent and foreign films. Discounted or free on weekends parking in the garage.
Jazz Soul (JazzSoul): Wonderful! They had lots of documentary films.
Heather Zulim: Free validated parking? Comfy reclining seats? Hell yeah.

mic rawls: Great spot to see a movie!!
chris baker: Great service and asks chris about deals
varun singh: One of the Biggest IMAX screen in the country. Love it.
Carlos T.: Always fun at the movies, especially if you're watching them here.
Florian Krentzel: Solid AMC location with 16 screens. Most of the theaters are well calibrated but I’ve encountered issues with screen 4 repeatedly over the past months as I’ve visited this location quite often. There are some other screens throughout the cinema that need to be white balanced but other than that the staff is great and very helpful for guest services related issues or anything outside of box office and concessions.
Matty B: A huge 16-screen AMC, inside of the Metreon center. They’ve got Dolby Audio, the only IMAX screen in SF, reclining chairs, and so much more!
Devin P: Convenient for movies and lots of food options in the area.

john “Optionworld 2000” smith: Good, but long lines, more waiting for to get in/out, and beautiful in people/area/feeling. Mostly, very respectful, nice and kindness people with more free times. Good place, for good soul, spirit and mind without any worrying, sadness and concerns.
Jorge Gonzalez: GOOD
Einstein Jr: The revamped theater is just great. Comfy cozy seats with plenty of room to stretch your legs and they will be opening a wine bar soon. Great place to see original off beat movies. My favorite theater.
Krishin Asnani: Because very few people show up here , Its cinema halls don’t have communal experience which is one of the reasons of watching a film in a theater ;But the cinema halls are clean with the most comfortable leather seats in any theater. The prints are pristine ; the acoustics are superb.Matinee prices are reasonable - they include the symphonic snoring of the elderly in the theater .I doubt this cinema will be around for a long time.
Tina Stromsted: I love this theater! The film selections are wonderful - a mix of independent, artistic, and mainstream - and it's easy to purchase reserved seats ahead online, reasonably priced with discounts for students and seniors. The theaters are small and clean with great sight lines and sound quality, comfy seats, yummy popcorn, friendly staff and a lovely vibe - a fabulous way to see great films on the big screen. And it's next door to Max's Opera Café for lunch or dinner beforehand, or drinks and discussing the film afterwards! I hope more people begin to leave home again to watch great movies in more of a community setting, and that we can keep this treasure of a theater open - a gem in San Francisco!
eva fortune: Great movies . Nice theatre . Great staff
Emmanuel Loggins Jr: Nice
Claire Tremblay: Completely renewed! Pleasant surprise for a quiet moment in a frantic week!
Jennefer Martinez: Comfy leather seats. Popcorn was good. Clean theatre. It’s reserved seating. Small theater and cozy.
Ella Askren: I love this little theatre. They play amazing movies for great prices, with some non-new releases being only $5/person if you log in with the free account. It’s an unbeatable deal around here, and these kinds of theatres are becoming more rare these days. I saw a screening of Maestro here, and they gave out a pack of several big, beautiful prints from the movie to everyone for free on the way in. It was a full house, seats were comfy, it looked and sounded great for such a small place, and the popcorn was good. The theaters aren’t very big, so even the very front row seats were well worth it, which is all that was left that night. I hope this place sticks around 3
Adrian Gaino: Secret spot
Sheila Xie: Awesome small movie theaters with great movie selections. Highly recommend.

Florian Krentzel: One of the best 1.43 screens in the country. Both in breadth of releases that fit with IMAX programming, but also for Fathom events or special ticket type orders. The staff at the amc is typical of most locations but the movie presentation is almost always on point which is why you should come in the first place. Some of the mounting locations of the screen are visible during pure white scenes but this requires maintenance and might not be fixed in the near future. I will update my review if this changes.
Matty B: The only IMAX screen in San Francisco, and it leaves quite a bit to be desired. The best seats are all the way near the back of the theatre, where you’re seated around ⅔ of the screen’s height. The seats don’t recline, and are among the least comfortable I’ve sat in at an AMC this decade.
Tammy Shueh: Great seats.. very good sound quality and movie experience. The bathrooms were really nice and clean. That’s always a plus. We watched Dune part two and the seats were amazing. Will do it again
Willie Preston: Incredible
Aaron Marks: If you at all have the opportunity, go see Oppenheimer at this location. Absolutely mindblowingly gorgeous.
Robert Sanders: You, definitely get an eye full from any seat. Most enjoyable
Jack Neenan: Saw the Flash!!
Louis Dole IV: Awesome

Aaron Thomas: We went here for my wife. She loves the small cafe at the base of the business but we were here for the shops upstairs. They have a great selection of various Lolita styles which she likes. A little bit expensive, but you can tell the shops offer quality products.
Asher McInerney: New people is an awesome collaborative of stores enriching the entire ambiance of Japantown. Ultra modern flair and design gives the structure and complex a true neo Japanese feeling. Make sure to check out all the elevens and stay updated on their list of events.
Kazuki: Good Japanese place
Rodney Pruitt: Great small theater
Cathy Castrillón: Great theater 👍
me: went out of business though...
Joshua Tabije: It was fun. Went to watch a movie at their basement theater and it was really nice. It was clear and it was pretty comfy. Would come back again!
Jean Stewart: Very courteous, professional, & helpful
Jasmyne Williams: Love the lunch menue. Staff were very nice. Love that I could get a whole tea cattle just for me!
Terry Ow-Wing: Comfy seats. Nice clean area. Good location to enjoy Jtown.

Felipa Covoh: Good. cinemark centurion
AJ M.: Favorite theatre! Staff are really nice and chill, unlike other centuries that watch your every move!
Sir. Christian T Hadsell (Fusses): They have the best movie setup. They do have a selection as well.
Karl TBNR FRAGS: me and my friends had fun we watched the Garfield movie and we took photos also the snacks are good and I sat at g13 in room 17 and after that we took a silly pictures also I only did rating because of Ryan trayhanAlso the arcade was good
Maelmew Mew: Best movie it was garfield and the snacks were really good and the seats were really good and not food in the ground.
Osvaldo Martinez: Excellent
Jacob Fraser: Great place to watch movies! Tickets are pretty cheap considering Bay Area pricing. The best part for me was the "recliner chairs". The food and drink is a little pricy for me but it's good! There's also a Bar inside where you can buy beer, wine and hard seltzers. Overall, it was a good experience. I would recommend this place if you're planning a movie date with family or friends.
Sarai Ponce: Excellent 👌
C Herr: We love the comfy seating.
George Hernandez: 💖

Alex Tour-Sarkissian: As a native of the Richmond District, I am very happy of the life that has been put back into this theater thanks to the new owners.
Mick Dimas: 5 stars for the 4 star! A great place for viewing films! We didn't try the food as we just ate before going there but it was nice to have a beer with the movie, as they have a decent selection of beers to choose from.
Bevan Bell: The Tunnel Records annex at the four star is not to be missed. Curated jazz, soul, rock, blues, funk, etc! Only the good stuff. Fair prices and often hard to find gems
Manny Gonzalez: Movie theater, coffee shop, record shop! What else can I say? I brought my four year old to see Kung Fu Panda and it was the best. Keep local movie theaters alive.
M C: and see something cool like an old classic movie, your favorite 80-90's anime, your favorite Tarantino or Coen brothers film, or a first-run movie that's getting sold out everywhere else. Very good screen and sound quality here, too. Take a picture of the classic marquee while you're there.
Taylor Nakamoto: Love this place they have great merch and record store inside too
uniworkhorse: The screen is so amazing, and with it being so tall... THIS IS HOW 4:3 FILMS WERE MEANT TO BE SEEN! There's no shortage of cinematic treats every month, the challenge is probably your personal schedule not letting you see them all! A local treasure, as always.Definitely an amazing renovation, I prefer the new 4 Star to the Balboa nowadays.
Ryan Carlson: Enjoyed viewing Slapshot tonight at 4 Star Theatre! Good beers, popcorn and ambiance for a fun night out. All around this theatre has a great vibe to it!
chris mague: Great local theater with interesting options that you cannot find elsewhere from the Japanese classic Tanpopo to surf/adventure films
David Paterson: Saw three local bands here. Great venue. Love the record store
Einstein Jr: Great old venue. Great movies
kirk pappas: friendly staff, good popcorn, trying to keep repertory cinema alive, thank you. If you love cinema, please support before all you can do is look at a movie on your phone.

emir almiron: The best spot old school style ❤️
Caleb: Vintage at its finest.
Hieu Tran: . Will definitely come back again for more movies. 🍿
Alexandra Smith: The cutest neighborhood theater! Recently did a private screening here for my partner’s birthday and it was super fun- they even customized the marquee for us. Amazing experience and we’ll definitely find excuses to do it again in the future!
Bob Martin: Amazing family-run theater right on Chestnut. Highly recommend.
Kaitlyn Baab: Neighborhood gem! A bit outdated but great spot to see the latest movies. Usually not too crowded. The trailers are short so don’t come too late.
Kelly Burton: Great little old-school theater that feels like a walk back in time! Lobby was in slightly rough shape, but otherwise it was tops!
Drew Gill: Nice local theater with reasonable prices and good selection of moviesSignificantly less ads before the movie begins too which is a welcome change

Krishin Asnani: It’s a theater where I happen to see the year’s best films ; Turkish film “About Dry Grasses “ at Little Roxie which is very decent sized screen; fun rings are pristine. Love the flowery artwork on the wall in its water closet. Also saw La Chimera here. Get the membership as it reduces movie tickets to ten dollars only. Also saw “ Joyland “ and “The Worst Person of the Year” here.It does need a facelift : the repertory portion isn’t as strong - past directors are mostly forgotten unless their death causes a splash - Goddard.
Abed Amas: A diamond in the rough. A San Francisco iconic location
David Chimes: Classic Indie theater in a wonderfully vibrant location.
Don Hall: This is not one's chain movie theater. It's funky and very down to earth with older equipment and older seats, but it really works. Great place to watch a movie with a marvelous ambiance and a very appreciative audience.
Chris Young: Perfect Days. Popcorn could use some help
Lane Jameson: An independent theater gem in a sea of lifeless theater chains. The Roxie is the real deal if you're a film fan. Great movie selection, good popcorn and concession choices, chill and friendly staff. What's not to love?
Benyam Ephrem: good vibes
Dean Sofer: Somehow always culturally relevant
Gord McCaw: Took in a movie in the Little Roxie, would have preferred to be in the Big Roxie but it wasn't doable that evening. Great place to see arthouse movies and documentaries you would be hard pressed to find elsewhere...
Jim Coursey: One of the last bastions of SF's once deep film culture, and now more than ever the best movie theater in town to see something completely unexpected.
