Saru Sushi Bar: what do users think?

KUSAKABE: what do users think?

Lily: Probably one of the more creative in presentation ! This place is worth the visit. It had classic things like uni and chutoro/otoro/ salmon eggs. The wagyu was yummy. The reservation was easy not sure what the purpose of the 8pm vs 815 reservation is. I noticed that everyone at the omakase bar was eating at a different pace. Some that were served first end up being served last as the dinner progressed on.The dress code is semi causal, my bf wore jeans .The omakase here is interesting as there are 3 chefs and each of them will serve 2-3 couples. Unlike other omakase I have been to, this one is less informative. They do mentioned some of the cuts here and there. The interaction with the chef is minimal Towards the end, he will ask if you want more or less rice and if you want to order anything else.I would say out of the omakase places I have been to, this one has the most amount of food. Also loved that ther dessert isn't a sweet tamago nigri!

Jeff Wallace: This was one of the best dining experiences of my life. And I’m old! Everything about Kusakabe was excellent, everything. The restaurant was warm, friendly and inviting, like you were eating at a friend’s home. We had a great conversation with our chef, our server recommended some great sake and all 18 courses were spectacular.Highly recommended, put Kusakabe on your bucket list, you will not be disappointed.

Gino Diaz: It's really my first Omesake! We went with my wife to celebrate Valentine's Day ❤️; And well, I had already investigated the place: 🍣 🍣 🍣 with a Michelin star it sounds attractive!!! So let's go.We first had to make a reservation in advance...approximately 1 month. We arrived easily on foot and because we arrived punctually, they welcomed us cordially in Japanese. The traditional suchi bar in good wood finish and behind it; The different chefs are very busy preparing the different dishes. We opted for one of 19 that included dessert! We found the cost reasonable for a culinary experience that truly is a symphony of unique and sublime flavors for those who love suchi. The Omesake Master was present...supervising all the actions...which never stopped...because it was a parade of exquisite dishes...they were all spectacular, but there were always some that stood out the most. We prefer a light beer to Sake... and at the end of the agreement, we decided to try wagyu A5!! Don't miss it...and you will definitely repeat the experience. Saluti a tutti 😎.

Daniela Monzi: Ordered takeout and the staff was super nice. Definitely a hole in the wall spot. The sushi was phenomenal! I had the toro special roll, California maki, and a salmon nigiri. Soooo delicious and will definitely be back!Food: 5/5 …

Pat Forster: Food: 5/5

JC Grumpf: I always rate quality of food vs the price, hence only 4 stars. But 5 stars for food!Quality is awesome, you'll love sushis and sashimi here. But it's a bit pricey. If you want to treat yourself, or if money is not a problem for you, you'll love this trad small restaurant! Recommended!

Robin: what do users think?

LoMo Phillips: Robin was my first introduction to omakase, and I'm so glad it started me off right. I'm not into sushi, but l'd recommend Robin to anyone. The DJ really set the vibe with throwback R&B and rap, adding to the cool atmosphere.Unfortunately, I don't remember exactly what we had for each course, but I do recall how fresh the ingredients were and how well the distinct flavors melded together with each bite. Our waiter checked on us a good amount without overdoing it. Order a bottle of sake and you've got yourself a fabulous night at Robin, guaranteed!

Jen: Fantastic date night experience. Definitely sit at the sushi bar, very fun to watch the chefs prep each piece. Every dish was beautifully plated. Fresh and balanced flavors. Nice modern twist to omakase. Appreciated the modern Japanese art, chic and intimate atmosphere.Robin was recommended by a good foodie friend from the Bay. I understand why she and all the foodie lists reference Robin. It’s a great place to eat and savor modern sushi when visiting the Bay.

Juan Agon: “Fusion” omakase. Expensive but very well executed, everything we were served was delicious. I recommend sitting at the sushi bar to get the full experience, our chefs at tables 9 and 10 were fun and engaging throughout service. The sake omakase was underwhelming, but YMMV, our drinks server was busy as he was serving the entire joint, on a different night, it might have been better.

Angela Chetina (Psychology and sexology): I recently had the pleasure of dining at Robin, a sushi Omakase restaurant in San Francisco, and I can confidently say it deserves a solid 5-star rating. The overall experience was nothing short of exceptional.Firstly, the restaurant's modern design creates a sophisticated and inviting atmosphere. The sleek decor adds to the overall appeal, making it an aesthetically pleasing space. The ambiance is intimate and romantic, making it an ideal choice for a special evening or a celebration. Now, onto the highlight – the food. The Omakase experience at Robin is a culinary journey that surpassed all expectations. Each dish was meticulously crafted and showcased the chef's dedication to quality and innovation. The flavors were a delightful symphony of freshness and creativity, leaving a lasting impression. One standout dish that stole the show for me was the fois gras sushi. The combination of rich fois gras with the delicate texture of sushi rice and the subtle flavors of accompanying elements was a taste sensation. It exemplified the chef's ability to marry traditional sushi with inventive culinary techniques. In addition to the impeccable food and ambiance, the service was top-notch. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and added to the overall warmth of the experience.Robin is undoubtedly a gem in San Francisco's culinary scene, offering a perfect blend of modern design, intimate ambiance, and outstanding food. If you appreciate sushi and want an unforgettable dining experience, Robin is a must-visit destination.Parking: I recommend to use a paid parking garage not far from the restaurant

Michelle T: , and combination of textures. The cuts were small, but I prefer that and getting more variety vs the other way around. Not a fan of not having a menu though. The price is sliding scale from $109-$209/person which others already noted, and you don’t know what you’re getting. You can however “add more”, or “scale back” but you still wouldn’t know how much more is more

Grace Nicolas -Kim: My hubby took me this place for our anniversary diner and I have to say this was one of the best omakase places. We did 210 $ omakase courses and every single dish was mind blowing. The fish is amazingly fresh and other ingredients are meticulously harmonized with different types of sashimi . If you choose 210 $ course dish, I don’t think you will be still hungry after the end of the courses as the portion is not small overall .We also tried various sakes and plum wines and they paired well with courses .If you enjoy sophisticated and fresh omakase , I highly recommend this place !

Mitzie G: Amazing dishes hand prepared by the skilled, world class chef. The host was attentive with an extensive knowledge of the dishes, their preparation and ingredients’ sources. The setting was elegant and chic, decorated with taste and sophistication. I highly recommend this dining experience.Dietary restrictions: The chef was happy to accommodate my shellfish allergy.

Irina Malkova: I’ve never done omakase before, but I understand good food. This was very, very, very delicious.Kid-friendliness: Not kid friendly

Wilbur Yu: was immensely fresh, and the creativity to their nigiris were astounding. One of the nigiri used grilled eggplant

Gerald Soo: Wonderful high-end Japanese omakase dinner. We dined inside a bubble. The only thing I'd suggest is to make the inside of the bubble brighter.

True Care Foot Reflexology: High end omakase restaurant. Currently outdoors only. Great food but needs a bit more lighting outside.

Brandon Yung: Honestly pretty impressed with this place. The name of the restaurant was a bit off putting but I’m happy to say the food surpassed my expectations. We got the toro roll, Kobe beef ramen, agedashi tofu and edamame - everything was perfect and reasonably priced! I couldn’t find anything critical to say about any of the dishes honestly and I eat at Japanese restaurants very often. I’d easily come here again. Definitely recommend the Kobe beef ramen.

Angela Dao: Wow, can’t believe i haven’t heard of this place! The duck ramen was some of the best ramen I’ve had in the states. We also ordered a few rolls and appetizers - the raw fish being super fresh and roll combinations were delicious and unique.Easy parking too! Definitely stop by, you might add it to your sushi rotation.

dominic galletti: Best in San Francisco!

Darius Bahgeri: One authentic Japanese place, very friendly staff

Kevin Onorato: Wow, I have been eating sushi for 35 years and this is the third place where I was ever truly surprised and delighted. While I am not a real officionado I can say for certain that all the boxes got a check mark. Food, atmosphere, and staff were not just wonderful but really a cut above my expectations. I’ve never had makerel that was so mild but still flavorful. We had a type of poke salad with mixed fish and mixed greens and pickled veg that was fantastic. The atmosphere, the ambiance, the art, the lighting, the architecture is pretty darn cool as somebody found a way to integrate the dated and rustic concrete building which was likely a auto garage or something back in the day, with a sweet room modern vibe. The caterpillar roll looked like a damn caterpillar and the dynamite roll was the best I’ve had. I hope I’m not being dramatic. My sushi experiences range from Monterey, Seaside, Marin, SF, Santa Cruz, and Portland. Never been to Japan but after this sushi I ran home and started to research trips to Japan as I was inspired.

Michaela Nee: Truly a hidden gem - amazing, amazing food, kind staff and honestly it’s just really beautifully decorated! This is our favorite place to take friends and quickly became a go-to.Vegetarian options: 2 veggie sushi rolls are available on the menu

Grant Mitchell: Just like all the comments said, come here for the happy hour. It’s a great deal and the staff was so friendly and nice. You have to get the five dollar beers. Also, the dinner plates were very large portions!

bv 74353: Great neighborhood place. We are regulars here. Attentive and helpful service along with excellent food. They provide an atmosphere that is quite rare in food establishments in San Francisco; when you’re here you’re made to feel like you actually matter and are not simply a delivery platform for revenue.

Mary Jo Ricci: , all A+ flavor combos. Decided on the omakase and the deliciousness continued in a nicely-paced delivery of a variety of beautifully presented and seasoned fresh sushi and grill items that were just…just…perfect. Every one. The place is small, unpretentious and friendly, and being a few feet away from Chef Julio, he could see our table and took the initiative to portion each round so our group could easily share every item. Great selection of Japanese beer and sake, plus cocktails. A truly memorable evening.

Lacey Merryman: one of the head chefs, who served us some incredible rolls and some small bites to try on the house. The service here was incredible, I mentioned to Ethan what I normally like in a roll and he customized one special for me that was truly a work of art

D. Land: MUST visit omakase restaurant in San Francisco! This is a perfect omakase restaurant that deserves a rating higher than five stars. Our chef is incredibly passionate and friendly, and the service staff are also very accommodating. The overall dining atmosphere is comfortable and relaxing.Everything was handled perfectly and the seasoning of seafood, allowed us to taste the natural sweetness of the ingredients. It's a truly amazing dining experience! Would definitely revisit again!

Jia Jie Wu (Jackie): Our first time at Omakase was such a treat! Big shout-out to Chef Jackson for the hospitality. The sake pairing is a must, the rarer sakes pair so well with the Omakase, and enhance the already great experience. Each individual nigiri was well thought out, the order in which they served the nigiri and brought out the sake allows you to enjoy the unique flavors of each fish.Having Chef Kaoru elevated our experience to the next level, he was kind, knowledgeable, and very funny! The service was immaculate as the servers did a great job explaining the intricacies of each sake as well as making sure we were comfortable. If you have the time while visiting SF, Omakase is a must.

Drew Chappell Mathias: Amazing omakase and sushi chef expertise. The GM/bev manager was very over the top. She thought she was cute and friendly but she made our dinner awkward and less enjoyable. She needs to figure out how to cater to all guests the same and not make some regulars feel special and others feel ignored or awkward. She also spent so much time with others that several of our courses went by without the drink pairing. Overall the meal was amazing because of the food. She dragged the rest of the experience down.

D. Land: It was always pleasant to experience chef making your the nigiri in front of you.My favorite dish from the menu was:Honmaguro Toro Nigiri ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Anago Nigiri ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Kamasu Nigiri ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Hojicha Ice Cream ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Recommended to visit this restaurant to experience high quality Japanese cuisine!

Shanna Cancino: Lovely experience. Minimalist aesthetic. Engaged, warm, and fun staff. Great service. High touch. Went above and beyond remembering little details about us throughout the night. The food was delicious, fresh, beautiful, fun, and educational. So many things stand out but need to check the QR code to write the names. The sake pairing was just as lovely! The crystal and platter aesthetic was beautiful and I wanted to steal a lot of it and bring it home. They counted the spoons 😜So grateful. Thank you 💕💕✨✨

I used to always get the Ox and Tiger from that list when it was offered, but I think I actually prefer the HaRa now. Nicole Tam: Best sushi experience in the Bay Area! The food is amazing, and the owner is very attentive to his customers. Portions are generous and quality doesn't miss!Make sure to call in to reserve a spot first! Looking forward to returning to this restaurant ☺️🍣

Koby Park: Need to go back. Arrived and saw the sign on door said closed. Waved through the glass at worker inside, he came and opened the door and welcomed us in. Regardless of the fact it said “reservations only” on the door, because there was only one other party eating, I think he was okay with us dining. The entire operation was one man whose service and food was simple and satisfying. No frills. For the price is it unbeatable. Atmosphere feels like you found a small sushi spot in a corner of Tokyo. Really great experience.

Ace Wasabi - Outside Dining & Sushi To-Go!: what do users think?

Andrew Howard: Our server Namtan was probably the best server I've ever had. She was so inviting. She listened to our special needs and catered carefully to us. She also steered us in the direction of incredible options that were so rich and delicious. Highly recommend the Toro Toro nigiri! Love!Dietary restrictions: Our server was exceptional at catering to dietary restrictions. If you have restrictions, ask for Namtan. She is the best!

Steve Rotzin: I don't know what to say here. This was a completely unexpected joy to stumble into. My daughter and her friends from law school stumble here to have some sushi, and the next thing I know, I am getting texts about how good it is. We head over a week later to try it, and WOW, simply fantastic sushi, wagyu satays, tempura style chicken, miso soup, and a wait staff that is like family. The SF Food Scene is what "An explorable feast"? But Ace stands out as one of the biggest surprises we've encountered. We will be returning.

Jamie Ginsberg: and the Garden Roll. Request the Avocado roll inside out! Pro tip: Happy Hour has legit deals and Bingo!!! The fries are in the picture because, they are delicious.
