The Trees Division is responsible for the management of approximately 16,000 City trees and provides the following: (1) On-going tree maintenance for safety, tree health, and aesthetics; (2) Administration of the annual tree maintenance contract for City trees; (3) Management and assessment of dead and undesirable trees for potential removal; and (4) Oversight of the landscape maintenance of assessment sites, medians, water reservoir sites, : (5) Weed abatement for right-of-ways and open space areas: (6) Landscape Maintenance District No.1 (LMD) and Street Maintenance District No. 1 (SMD) : (7) Administration of the Landscape Maintenance Contract, the Uniform contract and the Janitorial Maintenance Contract. The Tree Division is also responsible for planting new trees in right-of-way easements; overseeing the annual Bougainvillea trimming; and the installation and removal of the holiday lights on the trees in the Village and in front of City Hall.

City-owned trees are trimmed within a five-year cycle. Within this program, the city trims Palm trees on a two-year cycle; the Downtown Village Ficus trees are trimmed on a bi-annual basis to reduce fruit droppings and for the annual hanging of the Holiday lights; and all other Ficus trees are trimmed on an annual basis to retain their traditional “gumdrop” shape.

REMOVAL of CITY TREES | The removal of a City Tree by any person or entity other than the City of Glendora is prohibited. To request removal of a City tree that is a safety hazard, diseased or dead, please complete a Tree Service Request form and mail to: 1636 Compromise Line Rd Glendora, CA 91741 . In an emergency situation such as a fallen branch or tree that is blocking traffic or has caused damage to a home or vehicle contact the Parks Division: (626) 852-4869 or the Glendora Police Department: (626) 914-8250.

The following reasons are NOT valid for removal of a city owned tree;

Excessive leaves, fruit, flowers, petals, bees, birds, and other animals, or insects that may create a nuisance.

Roots that grow into the sewer or water line that services the home or business. The property owner is responsible for maintenance and replacement, if necessary, of lateral sewer and water lines that service the property. Roots typically do not enter sewer or water lines unless there is a pre-existing crack or leak.

Hardscape damage if a feasible, economic solution exists to save the tree. The city will take responsibility to repair curbs, gutters, and sidewalks located in the parkway as necessary.

PLEASE NOTE: The City will only remove trees on public property; this generally includes trees on most median or greenbelt areas, but each case must be considered on an individual basis.

PLANTING NEW TREES | Funding for tree planting is dependent on current fiscal budgeting. When planting new trees the city looks at the viability of planting a specific type of tree in specific areas. Viability shall be based on the following criteria:

THE URBAN FOREST | The Urban Forest consists of more than 18,000 trees located at city owned facilities, parks, landscaped properties, and within the public right of way on streets and highways. There are also thousands of trees located on private and other publicly owned properties located throughout the city. Maintenance of trees located on city owned land is the responsibility of the city and trees located on other properties are the responsibility of the property owner.

June 2: Summer Plant Sale, Members & Titan Card Holders, 2-5 p.m.

The parking lot at the Arboretum will be renovated beginning Monday, February 6th. Look for a new sustainable surface, additional spaces and new plantings. While the lot is under construction, please park across the road in Lot G. The Visitor Information Center will be open until 5 p.m. Monday through Friday to assist with any parking questions. The Arboretum entrance will remain accessible for visitors and deliveries.

On CSUF’s Day of Giving, we set an all-time record with 243 donors. We also unlocked a $25,000 grant for reaching 200 donors, and earned an additional $12,500 for finishing top three in the PepsiCo challenges. In total, Fullerton Arboretum raised $52,025.
