EOPS was established in 1969 amid the struggle for civil rights and racial equality. Students and community activists held demonstrations to protest the under-representation of minorities and low-income students in higher education.
In response to the social and political pressure, the state of California passed laws authorizing community colleges to develop EOPS to support economically and educationally disadvantaged students in the community college system.
The EOPS window located in the Student Services Building Room 227 is currently open from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm Monday-Thursday and 9:00 am - 1:00 pm Friday.
