Dogs are allowed in the campgrounds, on designated paved park roads, and on the trail around **Doane Pond** and **Myers Fire Road**.
The two roads to reach the park from Highway 76 are the scenic but steep and winding road from **Rincon Springs** (County Road S6) and the longer but gentler road from **Lake Henshaw** (County Road S7), which is more suitable for heavily loaded vehicles and those pulling trailers.
To keep your visit safe and enjoyable, please do not **feed the wildlife** and keep your **campsite** and **picnic areas** clean of **trash and food**. This will help protect you from diseases that can be transferred from wildlife to humans and will help make your outdoor experience a fun and safe time.
**OAK firewood** is not allowed in the park due to the threat of the **Goldspotted Oak Borer** spreading throughout San Diego County. However, other species of firewood, such as **pine** or **eucalyptus**, are allowed.
The park features **camping**, **picnicking**, **hiking**, and **fishing** (trout) in **Doane Pond**, as well as **coniferous forests** and **mountain meadows**. The park also offers **vista points** with spectacular panoramic views, including from **Boucher Hill Summit**, which has a historic **fire lookout**.
