Colleen Fallon: Couldnât have asked for a better experience. Ed was flexible with scheduling and made the initial sign up process a breeze. Rafael was a PERFECT instructor. He was patient, extremely knowledgeable, and was sure to adapt to my learning style. I was initially super nervous but Rafael eased my nerves almost instantly. I had the best time & will never forget my first surf lesson. I know there are tons of options for surf lessons in Santa Cruz but from my experience, Iâll be sure to always recommend Ed surf school.
julia parsons: Ed is a ROCKSTAR!! I met him at the surf hotel in San Jose de Cabo & took a lesson with him and my sister. We are from the US and donât surf too often and I ended up loving it. He first walked me through how to stand up on a board on the sand and then brought me out in the water. He helped push me out since Iâm not that strong and then told me exactly what to do. I stood up on so many waves! Thank you Ed for the best experience & for your kindness and patience.
Marina Barr: Our family had booked a surfing class, but unfortunately, we couldn't attend as my son fell ill on the day of the lesson. Ed, from Ed's Surf School, was exceptionally understanding and supportive in helping us manage this situation. His empathy and fairness were greatly appreciated, and we are looking forward to our upcoming surfing classes with his school.
Li Zhu: with Ed during the winter holiday season. Given it was our first time, we benefited tremendously from Edâs guidance and patience
W Hess: We had a wonderful intro experience to surfing with Ed and his team. Ed was careful with the planning to ensure we had the right conditions and it was such an awesome sight to see our kids catching waves so soon. Rafael and Andres were fantastic instructors. Canât wait to get back in the water with them for another session.
Shaun Reeksting: Fantastic! đââïžđ€ Ed was super responsive to queries, tailored a package that suited my skill level and shared his in-depth knowledge and wisdom of the local spots and conditions. Highly recommended đ
Asaf Hargil: I had a fantastic experience with Ed for a private surf lesson. His professionalism stood out as he patiently taught me the basics, ensuring a solid foundation. Ed's not just a great instructor but also an amazing person, making the learning process enjoyable. I had a great day in the ocean, feeling safe under Ed's guidance. Managed to ride a few waves, making it a memorable and successful session. Highly recommend!
Gabby Gonzales: semi- private lesson. It was a bit of change for us to pay, but worth every penny. Donât waste your time trying to rent a board and DIY. You may save a little cash, but learning from Ed is truly priceless. Amazing surfer and even better human. We went from 0 experience to up surfing in less than an hour. He has a heart for surf and people and that is so apparent when meeting him. Will definitely be back to shred waves with him!Also- even if youâre not a newbie, Iâd recommend giving him a call. During our lesson he gave seasoned surfers a few pointers that totally changed their game. Just the kinda guy he is. Always helping and encouraging people to get back up!
Berit Jean: I COULD NOT BE HAPPIER!!! or more grateful for my instruction from Jack, and for Ed's facilitating a day-of short notice request to see if I could try to surf....and I did, getting on my feet for the first time...6 times....in magical SANTA CRUZ. Jack's cues to turn, paddle, and pop up supported me in accomplishing a dream I didn't even realize was snoozing inside my soul! THANK YOU GENTLEMEN!
Julie Hart: . I took time off from surfing for various reasons, and as time passed, fear kept pulling me further away. I made the decision to give surfing a try again and came back to your school. Iâm so glad I did. By being open to Reeseâs instruction today, not only was I able to pop up and ride again, I was also able to make progress from where I left off. I rode wave after wave, several all the way to shore, and I feel like thatâs because I had the right instructor, one who was able to help me regain my confidence while not being afraid to instruct me.Iâm grateful to Reese and Club Ed for helping me to overcome a fear I placed on myself and a belief I held for so long that wasnât serving me. Spending the morning on the ocean, catching wave after wave, was beautiful. Thank you to Club Ed for running this school, valuing people like Reese, and teaching people to surf. More than that, you are teaching people to charge at life, remain present, balance on the ride, all while having fun doing it.To anyone reading this far and still wondering if they should take the class, the answer is yes! Take the class. Be ready for the surf stoke to get you though. Itâs real! đ„
alec ferguson: I went out with Ed this morning to surf Pleasure Point and had a phenomenal time. Iâm an enthusiastic beginner and have taken lessons in Santa Cruz as well as San Diego with numerous instructors. Ed was, hands down, the most attentive and discerning instructor Iâve ever surfed with. He knew what issues were plaguing my game and addressed them all by providing great advice and I was improving with each wave.I highly recommend Ed, he is a consummate expert and overall fun guy to take you out on the water.
Franck Turpin: with âxander. We arrived with no expectations and good skills, and we left with an in-depth knowledge of the break and improved skills on a longboard!Thank you đ Alexander.
Dan Smith: Kyle & Reese were awesome surf instructors and cool humans. Surfing the hook was rad đ€
Amanda Hill: Xander was awesome! Gave lots of great tips for not only this lesson, but also tips for if I want to continue surfing!
Suzanne Stack: and were just about as excited as I was for me to get out there.I can't wait to paddle out again.
Lkamii Dixon: Xander was a great instructor! Very knowledgeable and encouraging.
Sam Tortorilla: Great experience! We drove from the Midwest to learn to surf and Club Ed didnât disappoint. They booked us at the last minute and Sean had us catching real waves in our first hour on the water. Now Iâm addicted!

Carl Foisy: First off Iâd like to say that itâs hella cool to have a locally owned spot like NC Boardshop in our community. Looking for some gifts for my kids, I cruised past this store, and thanks to their small Open sign, I pulled over. While the building looked dark and closed in the evening, once you turn the corner youâll see itâs open and well lit. Theyâve got the goods like Salty crew and Santa Cruz stuff. Their own NC gear is cool too, and theyâve gotta great selection of sun glasses. For the sk8rs, theyâve got everything you needâŠ.and if youâre an oldschooler, youâll appreciate the legendary decks displayed. Proud to spend locally at this spot. PlusâŠtheyâve got hella stickers.
Brian Walton: Great local skate shop! They have a great selection and a wide variety to choose from - from skateboards and surfing to clothes and stickers. Cool place
Jay: . Itâs surprisingly good. The shop doesnât have anything to do with the performance of a board, but thereâs something magical about going to a shop looking for a particular board, getting the last one, and then having a really good session on it the next day.
Bok Choy: They've got the goods ^.^
Travis Mccleery: Super kind employees decent deck selection
Dave Jenson: I wanted to try longboarding and found the staff exceptionally helpful in figuring out what styles of boarding that I wanted to try and the board that would best fit my needs. I was very impressed with their large inventory, especially with the limited supplies most vendors have right now. I'm currently having great fun riding the board I purchased from them.
Ann Kapalungan: Just got our 9 year oldâs first skateboard! Mike helped us out. He was super helpful, gave us a lot of info. He was easy to talk to and made us comfortable to ask questions. Couldnât have asked for a better experience!
Frank Sousa: Great staff, very friendly and quality apparel!
Jo Spehar: Small store with a lot of quality items, and friendly experts.
Henry: Good prices, nice staff
Ryan Anderson: I bought a skateboard, service was nice, a little pricey but worth it.
Sean Iversen: These guys are great. Super helpful and will help you find anything you need. Skateboards, scooters, surfboards, skimboards. They have it all+ the best service you will find anywhere, thanks guys!
Gil kalbfeld: Love this place. The people are so nice and have good selection of stuff. Easy 5 star!
bern: Went for skateboarding gear. Store is well stocked and the people who work there are very friendly and helpful.
