Eric Sabol: This review is long overdue, but working with Highlight Solar has been one of the best contractor experiences I ever had. I signed a contract with them in Spring of 2023. I chose them in part because they were the only company that gave me confidence that they could meet the NEM2 deadline that was fast approaching. Despite an extremely tight timeline -- my first contact with them was only a month before the deadline -- they executed like clockwork and got us in just under the wire, which we greatly appreciated. While of course it's too late now for NEM2, any company that can pull that off is highly worthy of your consideration. In addition to the flawless execution, their pricing was competitive, and they communicated extremely well and always let us know what to expect at each stage of the process. I can't recommend this company any more highly -- give them a call and you'll be glad you did!
Minh Le: I have done business with Dean and his team at Highlight Solar three times over the last 8 years, and have always appreciated their ethical and professional business approach. Eight years ago they were a much smaller business than today, yet they impressed us with their value-oriented, intelligent offerings and customer service that were head and shoulders above what was offered by much larger companies. This last month, we discovered that a job that they installed for us in 2019 had a city building permit that was not closed out due to the city having no records of a completed inspection. I emailed Dean and he called me within the day even though his business was much larger and he had a much larger span of control now. It was not clear whether his staff forgot to schedule the inspection or the city lost those records, but the team went into action. They contacted city staff to learn that the old permit had expired. They were then told that a new permit had to be applied for, due to new requirements. They had to draw up a new plan to comply with newer building and electrical code. It also cost them a new permit fee. They did all that without any delay, scheduled the inspection, sent out a technician in advance to ensure that everything would pass, and got the inspection to pass without any difficulty or complication. I recommend Highlight Solar highly, as they not only get the job done professionally from the start, but if there is any error or unanticipated problems 4.5 years later, I can depend on them to set things right.

Prabal S: installed around 8 months ago. Samir was amazing to work with right from the start. He is a delightful person to work with. We got the most competitive rates in the market at the time. The install went smoothly and I was producing a peak of 5.6 kw in no time. I had no headache on the permitting side as well. I always look for genuine people to work with, folks that I can think of as my friends and throughout the time since my install, I have found folks at highlight solar have been always available and easy to reach. There was an incident recently because of which one of the panels was not performing optimally. Dean was very responsive and sent his crew to investigate the situation the same day. 2 weeks in and one the low performing panels has been replaced.I wish Dean, Samir, Chris, and Sam the best. Will be reaching out to them within the year to have new battery installed.

It's an amazing experience, in particular I'd like to call out a few things:- Transparent buying process- Extremely responsive communication- Very high degree of responsibility post installationClearly, I don't have any experience with any other vendor so hard to judge. When choosing who to go with, I know one of my biggest concerns with going with a smaller player was their commitment post-installation. On this point, I've been completely blown away by Dean and Sam who've been handling our installation. If you have this particular concern, you really shouldn't. They're fantastic!

They were very busy and he was realistic about the timeline and did not over promise. In fact, they got the job done weeks earlier than originally quoted. Sam took over the logistics and kept me informed of the progress throughout and was very responsive when I had questions. He managed working with the city, plans, payments, and pge. I never had to worry about a thing, they took care of everything. The crew at the install was great, real nice guys. They showed up on time, did high quality work, even the city inspector commented on it. I'm just waiting on PGE approval and looking forward to lowering my bills. Matthew Gentzkow: We hired Highlight solar install a solar system on a new house we were building. We got quotes from a dozen companies and Highlight stood out for their professionalism and honesty. A lot of these companies give you a hard sales pitch and try to talk you into spending more money than you need to. They gave us great value and were excellent partners throughout the process.
Raymond Wheeler: We were new to Solar but found Highlight Solar through a search for highly-rated local companies. We contacted them as well as a few other companies. Ali at Highlight Solar was immediately responsive and set up an early Zoom meeting with my wife and I, where he thoroughly explained the process, options, and patiently answered our questions. Within a day or two he provided us with a comprehensive preliminary proposal and then almost in real time responded to our follow up questions. Next step was a site visit where Ali and his team confirmed measurements and answered even more questions. We then asked for multiple proposals based on different assumptions, including battery back up options. This resulted in a set of comprehensive proposals for each option, enabling us to have a clear basis for choosing what worked best for us. Highlight Solar, and in particular Ali, could not have been more professional and responsive.

Marc Shargel: I live in the San Lorenzo Valley, near Santa Cruz. I got proposals from two solar companies in Santa Cruz and three in San Jose. All had excellent reviews. I don’t think I would have gone far wrong with any of them. But there were significant differences in price and warranty policies. After many emails to clarify details with many of the five installers, I signed a contract with Highlight Solar. I am glad I did. Their price was attractive; their warranty covered every issue and circumstance I could think of.Working with them was about as good an experience as I could have hoped for. There were a couple occasions I needed to be clear and specific about what I wanted, but I never got anything but courteous assent to my requests. Some of those required extra trips on their part from San Jose to my house, almost an hour each way. Others required extra hours of work on their part, such as my preference to place the collector boxes at a location that required some extra conduit routing. There were discussions, but no complaints or extra charges, ever.I particularly enjoyed how multi-cultural the Highlight Solar staff is. The office staff are largely Persian-American, the field guys are mostly Latin-American and the foreman is from Macedonia. All of them are smart, hard-working and eager to satisfy their clients.Most of the companies recommended LG panels and Enphase micro-inverters, which is what Highlight sold me. I am particularly pleased with the Enphase monitoring software which allows me to see exactly how much power I’m getting from the system, by the day, by the quarter-hour, and panel by panel.I am happy to recommend these guys without reservation. They earned my endorsement.

Miguel Cuellar: I had my solar system installed by them over 2 years ago and everything was great at the time of the installation. Recently, I had an issue with the system not reporting/working and I tried to contact them. Their manager reached out to me and let me the office staff and installation workers were all wiped out from covid but once everybody was cleared, he would send somebody out right away. Sure enough about two weeks later, I had a tech come out and troubleshoot and got everything going right the FIRST try. In between the time I was waiting, I got a call about once a week, letting me know they didn't forget about me and that they were just waiting for everybody to get clear/healthy. He had originally told me if my system wasn't working, he would send me a check for the PGE charges during the time it wasn't working. And sure enough, I just received the check in the mail. I'm glad this company stands behind their work AND their word about taking care of you and not just making empty promises. I HIGHLY recommend them for your solar installation.

Mike Olson: about what we wanted, to site inspection, permitting, installation, inspection, and interconnect with PG&E all went smoothly. We live in Sunnyvale, which has strict permitting, but the plans and work done by Earth Electric passed city inspection with flying colors.It took about 6 months from the time we contacted Earth Electric until everything was done, which is the timeline we expected based on our many conversations with solar companies, and we were also told up front by Earth Electric. We have 12 panels and battery storage sufficient for whole-house backup. I have been researching solar equipment for a year, and the REC panels, and Enphase micro-inverters, batteries, and system controller are all excellent equipment. Despite this, the price we paid was around the middle among the several bids we received for our project.We've had our system for about a month, and it's been performing even better than I expected. We're extremely pleased with the high quality of service we experienced with Earth Electric. If you're thinking about solar, this is absolutely the company you want to work with. I cannot recommend them enough.

Earth Electric took care of obtaining the necessary city permits and inspection and provided instruction on how to monitor performance of the system once it was installed. Importantly, Earth Electric worked with us on a fairly long journey to obtain approval from PG&E for NEM2.0 interconnection of the solar panels, which was complicated by the change in policy from NEM2.0 to NEM3.0. The panels have been working as advertised for several months now. In short, I found Sheryl and her Earth Electric team to be trustworthy, professional, and very helpful in navigating the solar panel process – an easy 5.0.

Peter Jun: I've had an Earth Electric solar installation for over 7 years now. When I was looking for an installer, they were the most responsive and offered the best product for price. Installation was quick and they did all the paperwork with PG&E. Sheryl, the owner, was super on top of it.Recently, I had a couple panels go out per my monitoring app. I hadn't contacted Sheryl and her team since my initial installation, but she was just as responsive and sent a tech out to investigate. A couple of the power inverters died "of natural causes" and the tech RMA'd them and replaced them on the spot. I was back in business after a few hours.I recommend Earth Electric to everyone. To me, Sheryl and her team are the best. Problems will arise with any company but the best companies own it and fix it! Earth Electric does exactly that.Go with Earth Electric!
Christopher Keener: Quote was comparable to the big companies, but Earth Electric was simpler to deal with and responsive to all our questions. Sheryl knows the local laws better than the big companies. Her quote gave a very conservative ROI, and our system will almost certainly pay for itself sooner than estimated. It also looks like it will output more than the specs. All the installers were polite and helpful. It was a nice touch that they painted the conduits to match the roof and wall--I don't think most of the others in our neighborhood did that.
Jewel Savadelis: with the best warranties in the industry. Earth Electric was courteous, informative, and provided clear and timely communication. No game-playing.Zach, the co-owner, came for a site visit. He was very thorough and clearly explained what had to be done for a safe installation that would pass inspection. From Zach's visit, Earth Electric drew up engineering plans, submitted an application for a permit to our city, and continued to follow the progress of the application until it was approved. Due to having completed a fair number of installations in our city, they were familiar with the process, and the time frame.When we signed the contract and gave a deposit, we were given an estimated start date. Bikram Gupta: I started the solar installation inquiry on 10/1/2021. Selected to go with Earth Electric, and the final PG&G approval was done by 4/14/2021. The actual installation happened in 3rd week of March 2021. System is working perfectly and hopefully I will not need to anything else other than annual cleaning.Overall, I had an excellent experience working with Sheryl and her team.- Sheryl and team are knowledgeable and take time to answer all your questions on tech, processes, pros and cons, etc. One should rate this as the most important criteria, given that you are likely going to own your solar install for 20+ years.- Earth Electric pricing was most competitive. I had another provider who were quite good in answering my questions, but Earth Electric first quote was $2K lower than the best price of next best provider.- End-to-end installation does not happen so fast. You should plan 3-6 months. Sheryl was kind to accommodate us considering a special needs requirement. Overall it took 3 months from my first email to PG&E final approval.- Very professional and well-behaved installation team led by Zach. This was another great experience. Zach took care to explain to me about the process, they stuck to the schedule, and tidy overall.

Jim Arrasmith: Two or three stars from an improper installation in 2018; 5+ stars for how Earth Electric resolved it when notified in Feb 2021. I will use their services again without hesitation. Details: I had a solar PV system installed in 2006 by another company which went through several ownership changes and no longer exists. In late 2018 the inverter died and after some research I selected Earth Electric to replace the inverter. At the time, I was very happy with their service and the installation. Unfortunately, they didn’t identify some wiring changes needed, but used the existing wiring coming from the array, which limited the output from my 5KW system to only 3KW. They didn’t follow-up to see if everything was working correctly, and I didn’t check either until recently. So when I discovered the problem in February this year I contacted the owner at Earth Electric. She was very apologetic and said they had had to clean up a number of issues created by the former partner who had handled my inverter replacement. She got back to me within a few days and scheduled a crew for the next break in their schedule. The crew arrived promptly on the scheduled day and did a great job running new wiring which totally resolved the situation.In my work I've dealt with hundreds of suppliers, and dozens of significant quality problems. All companies have problems. The best have few , but also distinguish themselves in how they respond when problems do occur. Earth Electric has responded to this problem very well and I would be happy to have them bid on any future work I need in the solar energy space.

Arlene Machado: I rarely write reviews but felt that I would be remiss if I didn’t provide one for Earth Electric. In choosing them I started by only researching companies with a minimum of 50 “five star” reviews. After additional deliberation, I narrowed it down to 3 companies. All of their bids came in fairly close to one another but Earth Electric’s price was the most competitive. I also had to have my electrical panel replaced and, again, Earth Electric submitted the best quote for the work. In addition to cost, I was impressed with the knowledge and time Sheryl Lane, the CEO of the company, shared with me. I had many, many questions and was interested in a variety of panels/configurations and Sheryl provided those in a timely fashion and happily answered all of my many questions without any sales pressure which was a treat!When the crew started the project I found them to be extremely polite, professional, organized and clean. They also answered the myriad of questions I had during the install in a professional manner. Zach Shepard, the general manager, was onsite daily working and supervising the project. I found him to be a very knowledgeable, caring and diligent professional.In working with Earth Electric it was clear to me that Sheryl Lane and Zach Shepard of people of high integrity. Trust me when I say you will be very happy with their work ethic, communication practices, products, pricing and installation.
Greg Tripp: Let me start from the beginning. I was looking for a solar company I could get ahold of and trust. After several calls to get quotes from other companies, What I found out scared me. Almost all these companies were based out of state and the installation teams were either from Sacramento or down south, L.A. area. I wanted someone local I could trust. Then I came across Earth Electric! I can't say enough about Earth electric! From the very start, Sheryl walked me through the process of how it all worked and presented multiple options for equipment without any Pressure at all. Within a couple days she sent Zack out to do a job site survey. Zack was well versed in solar and answered all of my many questions. I had a good feeling about this company and I was right! Igor Gorin: were missed, I had to personally reach out and coordinate with city planning to issue permit because Simmiti was not actively following up and were causing delays... once I had everything ready and they had scheduled an actual install date, no one had showed up
Gloria Collins: Simmitri drew up an appropriate plan for my roof and energy needs. The crew showed up on time and got to work! The installation crew was contracted out by Simmitri at the time of my installation in fall of 2022. The system works well, and I especially love the Enphase app. on my phone, where I can track how much energy my panels are generating. I hope some day the Enphase battery will be more affordable. Be sure to add the "Enlighten" app. to your smartphone, so you don't have to sign in to Simmitri's app., which requires constant signing in with password, etc. All in all, Simmitri did an excellent job.

I was in a rush to submit my solar project to meet a PG&E April 2023 deadline and Simmitri expedited all the paperwork and PG&E requirements. As a result we qualified for the PG&E solar program just in time. When it came time to install our system some time later, they worked fast and completed the project quickly. They took care of permits and coordination for all installation issues.

Michael MOORE: was part of a class action suit against the mfgr which was settled. So I was looking for honesty and quality, I remember telling the salesman I did not need a 50 year roof as I was already 60 and wouldn't be here that long. He gave me no argument. As I thought about it, I called hm back to discuss what made a 50 year roof. He explained in great detail all the additional work they had to do. I bought that top line roof and am so glad I did it, I also bought rain gutters from them which were very well done . 2 years ago, I had a from deck replaced and the rain gutters were damaged, Simmitri was out in heart beat and did the same high level of work to repair ny gutters, They offered me gutter shields to keep the leaves out but as I told them, the man who cleans my gutters does that for a living and does a fine job which I want to continue to have hin do I highly recommend Simmitri.

They were thorough and focused throughout the project, provided top-quality materials & construction for the new roof, handled all the interactions with PG&E flawlessly, and even helped me get several rebates I hadn't known were available. Daniel O'Donnell: In the end they delivered a fine job and well done, but,,,,,,,It took three trips to our house to seal up ONE leaky seam in our gutter. They did however seal up several that were not leaking on the first two trips out, internalCommunication error I guess.They should have charged me for one visit and one repair if they did the job correctly in the first instance. In the end they charged me for two visits but came out three times and repaired something each time although I only needed one.I am not knocking them at all, they do fine work and the folks are kind and professional but I was a bit disappointed at the whole process.All that being said if I need gutter repair I would DEFINITELY call them first but I would take extra steps in giving them clear instructions and measures to complete the task at hand and carefully follow up during the process.Thanks guys, you did a great job!

Scott Sherratt: Abraham Clouse reached out and helped us improve our solar production by adding panels. He reached out after noticing my comment on Nextdoor, indicating that he would review our situation and offer recommendations. He answered my over- abundance of technical questions and researched when he did not know the answer. There were some challenges, delays, and bumps in the road due to communication issues with SunRun corporate, but in the end the project was completed successfully. Abraham advocated for us with the project managers to resolve gaps and delays caused by SunRun's personnel changes. The "window" installation in our tile looks good and hasn't leaked. Abraham is the sales-guy, but was a straight-shooter when explaining different options, pros, cons, and the different financing and purchase vs. PPA options.

Avanti Mallapur: The solar energy project was an incredible experience for my family and it was transformed into a wonderful adventure since we met NRG! Energy Sage guided us to pick a company that would fulfill our needs. With their advice, we selected NRG Clean Power. It was a very smooth process with NRG. They helped us download the NRG Clean Power app. The entire process went through several phases. Each phase had a manager who immediately connected with me by sending me an email and linking through the app. The manager sent us updates on their progress. Each manager sent us information, data, drawings, and updates. We had our solar system installed by Matthew Lamel and his installation team. The entire process was smooth and organized very well. Matt would send an email to let us know what would happen. He explained the process very well. I downloaded the NRG Clean Power app that showed us the progress that was being made. We had a new manager at every stage who guided us through the process. Matt also let me know when documents would be sent to us by mail and would be prepared and we kept a lookout for these documents. Matt sent us an email to inform us when the installation team was going to arrive and when the material was going to arrive. This gave us time to prepare. Everything took place on schedule. The installation team was professional, courteous, and very well-informed. Even the inspection by the City went very smoothly and the inspector was very pleased. We are very pleased with Matt and this team! Thank you very much, Matt!! We have had solar panels for almost a year without any issues. NRG contacts us regularly to check if everything is fine. It was such a wonderful experience

Charlie Hedlin: I was new to the home and my first electric bill prompted me to get solar sooner than later. The NRG sales rep helped me size the system based on all of my computers, AC system, etc. We selected batteries since NEM 3.0 limits the value of exported power. I spent the extra to have a full backup as well.We didn't even discuss SGIP during the sales process so I was pleasantly surprised when their activations manager worked with me on the SGIP application. It required quite a few iterations and they stuck with me until it was approved 2 months after the project was otherwise complete and paid for.
