Steve Traversari: Essan is awesome and he is not just fast he is, as he calls it, "Asian fast". Never skated better on skates after he sharpened mine for the first time and will continue to use him for that. Also he has great tips for how to make your gear last longer and work better. Very satisfied with his attention to detail and willingness to help
Rob Nacke: I stopped by this shop yesterday with my three boys in tow, and I left very impressed. This is a legitimate hockey repair shop! Essan the owner has a lot going on hockey repair-wise but was very accommodating and dropped what he was doing to help me out. He knows his craft and was happy to share some of his knowledge as well. This is not a big-box hockey shop, but if you're looking for someone who knows hockey and hockey equipment, Essan at Bay Area Hockey Repair should be your first stop.
Daniel Han: I’m an MD and the reason why this is relevant to this review is because I can say that Essan has very intimate knowledge of the kinesiology relevant to skating and hockey. I went to him due to glowing recommendations from a few of my teammates, and was very glad I did. When I told him about the issues I was having with my skate fit, he was able to pinpoint other issues I was likely having with regards to where my body was sore and how I was compensating with my body while skating due to my skate fit issues, and he was totally right. Like a doctor, he was able to pinpoint and diagnose what was wrong with my skate fit and he fitted them like a dream. I love Pure Hockey but he honestly did a better job with my skate fitting and sharpening even though I had bought my skates from Pure Hockey. I was extremely impressed with his knowledge and service. He is excellent at his craft and I cannot recommend him enough.

Ruben Perfetto: Good services, and price. This business in San Jose for many years I know it on 2000, and was there before land still the same .As a professional chef I recommend this place to sharpen your knife or anything that need to be sharpened.

They not only had a replacement blade in the back, they were able to sharpen my old blade!Also, all of the antiques on the walls and shelves reminds me of how my parents decorated our general store growing up. Everything from old lumberjack saws to a deer head. Felt like being back home!

Gregory Nikolaev: Great lawnmower/chainsaw and much more repair shop and Knife Sharpener. Serg is a great guy, professional and nice. Professional repair technicians, they get the job done properly and quickly. Go to these guys for all your equipment repair needs and sharpening needs. They sharpen chipper blades, hair clippers and knives as well! Any of the bad reviews are from when they get really busy and are a little delayed with repairs or sharpening, would happen to any shop in busy season, especially when you’re one of the few shops that does these sort of repairs/services in the whole Bay Area.

Ran Tao: Very well maintained rink. Good coaches for skating class. Just hope they offer better time options for more advanced classes. The current time is during the hottest traffic jam, I'm never able to enroll my kids.

Kristina Cooke: Awesome experience! I've been to Pure Hockey many times and it's always crowded, which is great for business but stinks if you're a customer who wants new skates. Getting skates is a process and can be time consuming. Well today we came in to the San Jose shop first thing in the morning and received great care and attention from Brian. He greeted us immediately and was very kind. He fit both my son and husband for skates. He's very knowledgeable and friendly, and very relatable to our hockey and life experiences. He not only got our primary goal of getting new skates accomplished, he also taught us a thing or two about proper fitting skates and insoles. I absolutely recommend checking out Brian and his coworkers at the San Jose Pure Hockey location! You can't go wrong!

Ryan Ozubko: OMG I hate having to spend $400 on a hockey stick. But, if you have to do it, go here. Anthony served us and spent nearly 30 minutes talking with my son to make sure that stick we bought was going to be the right one for him. He steered us away from options that didn't make sense or weren't in alignment with what my son said his needs were. Super helpful, totally genuine, and as a result we have zero buyers remorse. It's the people who make this difference and this is a prime example. Thank you!

We were referred to this location by one of the parents from her team.The staff here are phenomenal, I never once felt pressured into buying anything. Everyone is very informative.I do want to give a very special shout-out to Curtis. Having a goalie can be tough, a lot of times coaches or players don't know what advice to give. But having Curtis, who himself is a goalie, helps so much. He took time out of his day and spent a good half hour on each visit we've gone there! He gives us clear explanation on everything he recommends and uses!If you or your kid play hockey this is the place to gear up at.
