Join naturalist Jon Menard to explore and enjoy the Bay Area's beautiful spring wildflower display while you build stamina and improve your physical fitness with fun and like-minded folks. Benefit from the aerobic exercise of walking and hiking mountains, lakes and sheltered valleys that are too hot to hike in the summer. Meet new friends, while learning about the local flora, fauna, and geology. Choose your level of hiking adventure between 5 and 8 miles. Because there are several different levels of hiking groups the instructor will NOT be with your group at all times. If you have any special health or medical conditions, please discuss with the instructor before registering for the activity. Required equipment: Sturdy supportive boots/shoes with traction type soles (smooth soles are not allowed); personal first aid kit, 2-16oz water bottles, snacks, lunch and layered clothing. ~ Hikes are not cancelled due to inclement weather. ~

Depart Return UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED: Departure is from Moonlite Shopping Center/Jenn's Coffee House at the SE corner of Kiely and El Camino Real in Santa Clara (Next to the VTA bus stop) at 8:00 a.m. Our target return time is 4:00 p.m.

Weather and ground conditions may affect the planned destination. Jon will make a decision for the best destination on the morning of the hike.

Our team of authors, musicians, teachers, and curriculum experts set out to create a writing camp that turns the notion of “writing camp” on its formerly-stuffy head.


For elementary campers, lessons are delivered as songs, and new writing skills are practiced by writing rap songs. Rising first graders develop story skills, while campers entering grades 2-5 publish their own eBooks. Middle school campers create their own project about a topic they love, and improve their persuasive and explanatory writing skills.

Camp was a great success for our son. It’s the first camp he really enjoyed and he was so proud of his book and the books of his fellow campers.
