Pauline Mak: . We went on and did our own research, engaged a pool company, landscaping company and came up with our own design. We have had great experience with the landscape company but the pool company was a nightmare for us. Lots of broken promises and nothing was done after they dug a giant hole in our backyard. We have been staring at the giant hole with dirty ground water building up and nothing gets done even after numerous follow-ups. The worst part is that the rest of our project can’t start until the pool is completed so we have a lot of work we weren’t able to do. The whole experience was very stressful for our family. Finally, I reached out to Matt again asking if he might have any suggestions for our situation. Even though we are not his client, Matt got back to me right away, listened to our situation and provided another pool company for us to look into. That one recommendation Matt gave us completely changed our life. The pool company, as Matt stated, is very professional and complete tasks just as they lay out in the agreed timeline. Our pool project is now back on track and hopefully in time for the holiday get together with friends and family. Matt is not only professional, but he is also a great guy who loves to help people. Justin and Eden Tong: We did a 60min virtual design consultation with Matt as we are in planning stages of our backyard renovation project. He offered very useful pieces of information and tips to help us clearly envision what we wanted. Using a satellite image of our yard, he did a rough 2d framework of the renovation while we talked. He was able to talk about the range of costs we can expect. Overall, the meeting gave us a good base on how to approach our project. Yusuf Mohsinally: We have a small and oddly shaped backyard with little consistency in space. We had a lot of trouble finding somone to design it. Most of the designers gave us simple ideas and said they could not do much with it or they were not willing to design such a small backyard. To be honest it was a challenge. We found Matt through the Houzz App and couldn't be happier. When we met Matt we told him we wanted something modern and to be wowed with the space. He was up for the challenge and gave us just that. Not only did he provide us with great design but was extremely helpful with exact details such as plants, lighting and materials to be used. He was also extremely helpful when the design went into construction. He provided helpful feedback before it began and also visited a couple of times during the contruction process to make sure everything was going according to the plan we had envisioned. Overall we are extremely happy with Matt as our designer and would definitely recommend him.

Vikram Sardesai: We recently started the process of completely redoing our backyard and got in touch with Matt after finding him here on Yelp. We have a narrow long backyard and were looking for the most efficient space utilization while also making sure the space didn't look busy. Matt had some great ideas which he turned into an initial draft design within a few days of us meeting him. It featured a pergola, fire pit, artificial turf and landscaping and it all came together really nicely. There was a ton of thought put into the placement of the pergola such that it seemed almost a natural extension of our family room, leading out into the backyard. We discussed some tweaks and it was past 7:30 that night when Matt left, but he turned around an update design that very night! As others have noted, Matt is super responsive and that helped move things along really fast. He's also had great advice for us on materials and the relative costs, where we should focus on spending our budget.We liked working with Matt so much that we added the frontyard to the project as well and are working with Matt on finalizing a design for our front. We're very close to starting construction on the project and can't wait for the space to be ready for us to enjoy our brand new backyard and frontyard!
Rich Cayetano: My family recently purchased a brand new home, and the front and back yards were nothing but dirt. One of the first things we did before we even moved into the house was try to find someone to design our landscape. After reading his reviews and looking over his portfolio, Matt was the first person I reached out. Within 10 minutes I already had a phone call back from him! We immediately scheduled an appointment, and on the day of, we walked through the yard and discussed ideas and what my family wanted out of the space. Matt was incredibly knowledgeable about different materials, trees/plants, and even specific tastes/trends within the area. Not to mention, he's just a friendly and easy-going guy. It didn't take long to decide we wanted Matt to be our designer.The design process itself was really straight-forward. Matt does an initial draft, gets your feedback, and then iterates a couple more times until it is exactly what you want. Matt is super responsive and will answer any questions you have a long the way whether it's by phone, email, or text.That was really important to us given we're busy ourselves with the move, work, and our family.Now, as we move into the stage of actually building out our yard, we have a clear design we can show to builders that captures exactly what we want. I would highly recommend Matt to anyone looking to have their outdoor spaces done.
Ivy Chesser: We thought we knew exactly what we wanted for our Eichler front yard, but we were having trouble with actual drawings. We have no experience as to how to handle the slope of our yard, and what the scale our steps should be, so we called Matt of Water and Earth and he came to our rescue!He is a great communicator, efficient, friendly and professional. Matt was able to translate our vision and adjust for the things we didn't know how to handle. And as a cherry on top, Matt added some of his ideas to the design and brought it to the next level!He showed us the design in a 3D model so we could truly see how his ideas would look, which is really helpful!Eichler homes are Mid-Century Modern post and beam homes with tons of windows. "Normal" landscaping just doesn't work. Materials that are popular may not be the right fit for an Eicher. We need clean lines, creativity and a connection to nature and Matt sure helped us with all of the above.We are starting the work now and I will share photos when the project is complete.THANK YOU MATT!
