The Spartan Food Pantry is a walk-in, full-service, staffed, food assistance program offering non-perishable goods, fresh produce, and refrigerated items to eligible students.


No student should have to face food insecurity. We define those in need as students who have limited or uncertain access to nutritious and safe foods because of a lack of money and other resources.

Much of our food provided is donated in partnership with Second Harvest of Silicon Valley. View our donation guidelines for ways to support us.

The Spartan Food Pantry is open with reduced hours for Summer 2023.

Must have an annual income of $34,263* or less (no documentation required)

Must bring your Tower ID & reusable bag(s) every time you visit the pantry. If you do not have your Tower ID you should inform the Bursar's Office you need it to access the pantry.

Only come if you are healthy; wearing masks/face coverings is encouraged.

Complete the Spartan Food Pantry Intake & Agreement Form (this can be done in advance or via scanning a QR code on your personal phone on site). Must be completed before the first visit of each academic year.

Check in (staff scan your SJSU Tower ID card verifying you are currently enrolled). Staff will ask and record your name, address, family size, first per month, and if it's a repeat visit. (Some questions are for USDA reporting purposes).

Grab a basket and shop for items within our zones. All items are based on availability. We'll let you know if there are any limits per zone on that day.

Some high-demand items have quantity limits so we can ensure all students get an opportunity to select. Some grant-purchased items are limited to the eligible student (not family use). Always ask if you need more of any item, remembering you can return each calendar week.

We highly encourage students to ask a staff member or look online if they don't know how to prepare a food.

4worldlovers: Santa Maria Urban Ministry was founded in 1983 to provide emergency food to impoverished families in downtown San Jose, California. Santa Maria has provided a food pantry continuously for 38 years.


Since our beginnings, we have listened to the community needs and started many new services that not only address immediate necessities but to also empower families and individuals to transform their circumstances. To address the increasing numbers of homeless, our Warm Hearts Initiative provides unhoused members of our community with bagged lunches, hygiene kits and in the winter sleeping bags and other resources.


An outreach ministry of the Episcopal Diocese of El Camino Real, Santa Maria welcomes people of all faiths or none and does not discriminate on any basis.
