Peter Burns: I've been with BAAS for several years. It's a very safe and nurturing space that teaches the rigor of the Meisner Technique along with the compassion. Whether for child, hobbiest or pro/semi-pro actor, this studio provides what is requires. I'd say it gives back 3-fold what the student brings to the work.
Jennifer Hahamian: Positive:Professionalism,Quality,ValueI participated in the 6-month Beginning Acting for TV and Film Class. Absolutely worth the money. Challenging to be sure; rewarding without a doubt! Pam is uniquely talented as a coach, instructor, and actor. The classes were well-structured. Assistant Leslie was a great bonus to the class.
rajat mehndiratta: , based on so far 3 months of involvement.Studio staff seem responsive and accessible. I made an error when signing up for a class, it immediately got caught
Sachin Mohan: I have been taking acting classes for more than a year now at Bay Area Acting Studio. The classes are always fun. Teachers do a great job of keeping the class environment safe and friendly. Most of us were new to acting but improved immensely within a year. Highly recommended whether you want to take up acting professionally or as a hobby.
Timothy Page: Your site is so informative that lends direction to my career search. An extensive array industry details have been condensed so as to heighten the reader's experience free from boredom.I anticipate being introduced to this learning opportunity.Timothy Page
Michelle “Mitch” Truong: Best local acting studio to grow as an actor in the Bay Area with super supportive teachers and community. Teachers are very knowledgable about the industry. A great place to learn the foundation of the Meisner Technique which is perfect for film and TV!
Patrice Wolters: I love the Bay Area Acting Studio. I took Acting for Non Actors in the spring and now am enrolled in a 6 month series for people seriously interested in acting. The benefits are enormous to include making new friends, having fun, stepping out of your comfort zone, learning to be in the moment, and improving your memory and speed of processing. I work with Kyle Chen who is a highly skilled, supportive instructor who gradually challenges you to evolve. We practice skits and get a change to practice being in the moment and performing. I highly recommend Bay Area Acting Studio!! as a wonderful, safe and stimulating place to grow!!

Catarina Kim: Love love love First Take's process-driven method, the underlaying belief of 'I am enough,' and the supportive community of actors I now have the privilege to call my friends. First Take method helps me focus on exploring and finding myself in the "character" while honouring the intention of the writer rather than what the character is "supposed to be." I never thought I'd love studying acting when I first started but now I can't stop because Nancy's method is so in line with what I try to do every day, which is getting to know my essence and letting myself free - every class I get to meet and get to know different parts of myself that I couldn't have otherwise before and nurture it or heal it depending. As for the community, wow I am so grateful for such a supportive, encouraging, inspiring, hilarious and beautiful group of humans in my class. So, honestly every class is like therapy for me. Thank you Nancy for creating this school and offering your warm & kind hand every week in my journey in acting and individuation!
Andrew Thomas: I’ve been taking acting classes almost 3 years now and it’s been an incredible experience at First Take Acting School. All the acting teachers at the school seriously know their stuff and make class an extremely fun and engaging environment . I've trained with Danny and Robert and currently with Alison and it's been really good. First Take has this awesome vibe, with all these aspiring actors buzzing around, each with their own unique style and talent. You can just feel the creative energy in the air, and it's contagious. I have not only learned about acting but also about the industry itself.I'm very happy to be part of this community, surrounded by talented individuals who share the same passion for acting. If you're serious about acting, or just want to learn more about yourself, this is the place to be. Trust me, you won't regret it!
Zamir Syed: Attending the First-Take Acting School has been a life-changing experience. My instructor Danny Lai is a phenomenal teacher with incredible depth - he never ceases to amaze me.
Blair Debra: I’ve been at Firsttake for 2 years now! Learning the craft of acting as myself is more complicated than it sounds like it would be. Both my teacher’s Susan and Allison have been phenomenal in my growth through this process. Highly recommend checking it out
Alexander Pikul: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueGreat teachers , quick and easy entrance into the world of acting and business aspects of Hollywood.
Shawni Moon: First Take is an amazing acting school like none other! I have learned so much while being here and my acting has improved so much more than I could ever have hoped. Acting for a living was always a dream, and only a dream, but now, now it's getting closer and closer to a reality! Not only do they teach you what is needed to make a scene amazing and interesting, but they also teach you the business side of acting and help you excel there as well. The teachers truly care about the students. They aren't in this only for the paycheck, they want you to succeed. They will push you to do better and better but in a kind, loving way.I can't recommend highly enough!
Mason Walker: First Take is a school unlike any other! All the teachers are so supportive to growing actors and create a super safe environment for students. I have been there almost three years and started with virtually no acting experience; today I work with a wonderful agent from LA. First Take does a great job at moulding people into working actors. I myself have seen so much growth in my own ability. Every class I learn something new. I would strongly recommend this to anyone interested in acting!
Anthony Puah: I've been going to First Take for the past few years - with their coaching and guidance I've not only improved my acting, but also learned more about myself as a person. Anyone looking to further their acting skills or career should definitely give them a chance!
Chad Davis: to allow you to let your guard down so your skills can be nurtured and grow. In a temperamental industry where you can face disheartening rejection like 95% of the time, support is invaluable and what you will find at First Take. Even-more-so Nancy and the teachers are spot on in their positive acting critique. It’s remarkable to see everyone adjustments and growth over time and even more mind-blowing to see students’ scenes evolve from their unpolished first read into something breathtaking. - And that happens every class! First Take also provides you knowledge of the business side of acing and hosts
patricia Deery: I had spent quite a few years looking for the ideal acting class that resonated with my personal learning style. I was involved in amateur theater for a few years with very few classes and realized that I did not have the skill set or growth I needed to be an actor at the top of my game. Once I started classes with Nancy at First Take, I recognized I had "come home" as far as finding the professional training program I had been seeking. The First Take process in approaching a script is a comprehensive and compassionate journey to discovering each character within the actor. Nancy has a finely tuned instinct in working with her actors, always seeking the humanity within the character as well as within the actor until they are one and the same. With her encouragement and guidance, I have found myself diving into scenes, with a sense of being the character like never before. It is not always an easy journey but it is a rewarding training foundation once you recognize that the actor's journey is the way of the warrior. There is a profound truth in Nancy's philosophy: "You are enough". Once we the actors internalize that mantra, the fun really starts.
Heather Young: I really enjoy taking classes here! The environment is loving and supporting to any level of actor, no need to feel intimidated at all! The skills you learn here will help you take your acting to another level whether that is professional or as a hobby. As someone who has takin classes elsewhere, this community does a wonderful job at encouraging and challenging you which isn’t always the case at other schools.
Michael Zapesotsky: First Take is an amazing acting school, and resource. The classes are amazing not just for beginners but for people who want to dive deep into acting. Aside from the great instruction, they also offers a bunch of resources that help you develop your acting career like casting director workshops, and business acting workshops for new and experienced actors. Great community!
Carolyn Power: I've studied with Nancy Berwid of First Take for sixteen years. In that time, Nancy has taught me all the tools I need to know in order to audition for and to book roles in Los Angeles for television and movies. The most important lessons are to relax, be yourself, believe in your choices and always, always welcome falling flat on your face. It's a humbling profession because the actor must always look inward at one's inner most self. I continue to learn and polish and struggle with all of this. The last ingredient is that acting takes time; it's a peculiar lifestyle and a long term commitment--and I love it.
jhovany orozco: Positive:QualityCouldn't ask for a better place to grow as an artist and enhance your craft. Since joining I have reached a level in my skills that i couldn't reach without the help of Nancy and her classes. Couldn't recommend it more!!

Lynda Martinez: Enjoyed Lyric Theatre's Matinee production of Gilbert & Sullivan's "The Sorcerer" today @ SJCC...Lovely theater, no bad seats, intimate, good sound system. Lots of fun! Runs thru first week in March! Go see it!
Sepideh Reiisieh: Cozy.
Yolanda Mitchum: Pretty good venue, but its my first time here in a long time. It sucks the actors weren't mic'd for this show. Made it difficult to hear some of the actors who don't project as loud. Other than that, seemed ok.

Shruti Garg: My 7 year old daughter absolutely loved attending San Jose Children's Musical Theater! They put on a fantastic show and really create a welcoming environment for kids.
Marie Slater: After attending Freaky Friday performance, I could not believe the ages of the children in the production. Fascinating, exciting, talents in every act. Bravo to the full team. Great job. Everyone should see the works of this group. Certainly worth the value in support of youth in San Jose.
Bleep Bloop: The teenage cast is consistently at professional level of performance. I have not yet seen the younger casts, but what I have seen has been extremely high-quality. I like that they wear little microphones so I can actually hear them clearly.
Jayant kumar: Love this place! Great mentors and coaches. Great vibes. It’s amazing how they create great shows with such junior artists in such short time.
Evil Susan: This was my first visit to a CMT production, and it did not disappoint. The singing was professional level, they could sell records. They put in so much work, and it all showed up on stage. Recommended!
emilio barragan: Very good
Chris Stahl: Great atmosphere for the youth!

Billy Howard: is almost too funny. The climactic schtick never seems to come and travesty builds on more travesty as the crowd near-literally rolls in the aisles with panting laughter. And to effect the actor's grace, they had to know that all the set piece gimmicks, peligroso as they were, would not fail, would not become stuck, would work perfectly every time. Awesome job, set and props crew. Finally, Michael Storm's fight choreography must be noted for it's seeming imperilment, including rag doll floppings-around of numerous dead bodies, yet all were safe and far from the harm they portrayed.Ken Keliher, a Hall of Famer in San Jose theater from large scale classics and tragedies to the delightful 100 seat house comedies he has helmed as Master Director, simply does it again with this piece of perfection. All the cast: lovely job. The voices, the faces, the trips and hiccups, the timing, the dialects, the pauses: expert, delightful, tops. The biggest delight was to see the astonishing success that Cathleen and Randy have helmed and weathered for these 2 score years in an often unforgiving artistic climate in the many years when San Jose, CA, was a seeming sister city of Podunk.Their tenacity, vision and success is unique in the South Bay as countless theater companies of varying sizes have come and gone, brief as the lightning in the collied night.Thank you, Randy and Cathy, You, as well as the theater, are National Treasures. I am so honored to have been a part of SJS's first decade. Excited to see the next major phase with yet another new theater space
Arie Vayner: Really enjoyed The Play That Goes Wrong. Funny
Lizao Li: We saw Bald Sisters there. It was amazing!

dave o: Back at this place for more. Jeff truly knows his craft! 25+ years of experience and it shows. The level of detailed nuance he knows and teaches is insane!
Mike Federwisch: Great classes fun shows
Sandeep Ranganathan: I came here with a small group of friends on a Friday night for a performance by the AIT players and absolutely loved it. The 'AIT players' group comprises of a mix of seasoned performers, instructors and folks who have just mastered the art at the workshops held at the theatre. The performances were spontaneous, quirky and innovative and while some of the joked didn't land as well, we felt that the performers were true to the original "improv" art form and did not try to fallback to a standard template or deviate from any suggestions provided by the audience. I had the chance to volunteer as a part of a quick skit and had a blast. It's worthy of a callout that the show comprised of close to 6 different short-skits/ games within a span of 75 minutes and that speaks volumes about the hard work put up by these folks. As a group, we had the chance to hangout with the crew after the show and talk more about their experiences which seemed to be a refreshing change from some of the other shows I've been to. Jeff Ringgold, one of the instructors of the workshop was also present at the show and an absolute delight to speak to.Other details and callouts- There's sufficient street parking along with reserved parking right behind the theatre.- While there isn't a full bar inside the theatre, they do serve beer, wine, water and non-alcoholic drinks.- The theatre is a fairly small and private space but big enough to host large groups of people.- Each show is close to 75 minutes inclusive of a 5-10 minute break.
Donald Gorday: Small venue, well played improv.

Dianne Hill: Intimate theater with excellent acting and set design. Recent preview of the upcoming production was well done. Perfect for a group of friends on a night out!
Liz K: King Liz in theater
Adam Sevillia: Amazing small intimate theater.
Dan Quine: A small space, but it does mean every seat is close to the stage. We were in "restricted view" seats off to the side, which were just fine. The will call turned out to be an enthusiastic but rather disorganized guy with a clipboard outside the entrance. Overall a rather charming theater experience.
Elizabeth Fox: Local theater group that puts on a variety of shows each season. We’ve been to two and greatly enjoyed them.
B: The energy of this place was amazing. The whole crowd was supportive on a memorial I recently went to. I would reccomend going to see shows here. Awesome staff, great people. Good vibes all around.
Don Packwood: It was a dress rehearsal, but the play was very well performed. The play was well written, thought-provoking, and enjoyable. I had a memorable experience.
Antonina Ettare: It's an intimate theater where all seats have a great view of the stage. Feels like you're right in the play with the performers.
Emily: but it was so incredibly amazing. Costumes, choreography, set design, actor talent was through the roof. It's a small place but they really pack a punch!! I would highly recommend going :
Tina M. Parsley: Everyone MUST see Kinky Boots!Best performance I have seen in a very long time!
Julie Henig: Amazing performance of Kinky Boots!
madamharbinger: Beautiful black box theatre that does newer plays

Taed Wynnell: A nice theatre for large events and theatre.
Rodges Mendoza: Tribute to Coldplay was a great show. It was my first time to watch candlelight concert and it feels so good to hear the coldplay songs played by the string quartet. Definitely want to try next time with my mom.
Susan Filice: I was eager to attend this event as I'm considering scheduling similar ones for a program at my workplace this fall. It lived up to my expectations perfectly. Not only was the setting beautiful and the music superb, but the musicians also exuded joy throughout their performance. You could truly sense every note they played and witness the genuine happiness on their faces as they shared these beautiful melodies with the audience.
