James Ehrlich: Yes for Chess is amazing! Great teachers, fun and engaging workshops and tournaments for all skill levels.
Xinhua (Joshua) Zhao: My son attended the summer camp there for two weeks, and he loved it. They seem to be able to keep his attention, as he said it was fun while he learned some strategies along the way. We took chess lessons on and off in the past. This one is by far my son's favorite. We have a schedule conflict due to prior summer camp arrangement. I think we will come back for regular weekly classes.
Damien Mar Chong: closed to in-person. They found an International Master to teach one of the sessions and soon offered an online playing platform. They pivoted very well to a distance learning program with a good playing platform. My child is engaged and I feel confident it is a safe and stimulating program. With that said the costs are more than what we paid with the in-school sessions; though the instruction from an IM, online playing platform and flexibility
Dawn Fanara: In-person or online, Yes for Chess is fantastic for any chess player - beginner or advanced!
alena villari: My son loves this program and has participated in several series of classes. He really enjoys the chess puzzles and challenges and the games and tournaments with his peers. He has been a student both in person and online and both have been fantastic.
Ying Mei: My sons just learned chess and their coach Nick and James both amazing! Great place to learn chess and have fun!
Children Felch: My daughter has been playing chess for about four years now and absolutely loves it! After her chess class she talks about the lesson she learned that day and tells me about the endgame in the games that she played too. She has said that doing chess online has actually helped her learn a lot it better and love it more because she was given more opportunities.
Jennifer O'Sullivan: My daughter has been playing chess for 3 years. What started out as a once a week after school activity, has turned into an everyday obsession. This program has taught my daughter the fundamentals of chess in person and continues to teach her how to improve her skills through online learning. The chess tournaments offered multiple times per week allow my daughter test her skills that she has learned. My daughter has improved tremendously since day one and continues to do so. Nick, James, and Luis have provided excellent guidance with their knowledge and strategies. My daughter hopes to play chess for many years to come.
s m: loves the classes of Yes for Chess. Coaches are organized in teaching , they make the class interactive and filled with fun. The management team helps whenever needed. Great job !!
Michael Diaz: Worked for the company since 2012. The job offered a good opportunity going to different schools in the Bay Area and teach grades K-5 on how to play chess. The company was also in a transition to teach online. I came onboard with just basic knowledge and picked up on over a gradual amount of time. The staff with the same passion of working with kids was great to work with. Scheduling is also flexible for those working either another job or currently in school. I would highly recommend the job for anyone interested in teaching experience or going into education.
Katrina Rogers-Uk: . A time to exercise their minds and strategize. I also have a 6 year old that just started a few months ago and loves it! She looks forward to her classes and enjoys even when she loses. The instructors are engaging and friendly.
Kathryn Torres: The pandemic had forced my husband and I to find new activities for our girls to enjoy that would keep them socially distanced but still provide some interaction with other kids. Yes for Chess was the perfect activity for that. Learning to play chess helped them exercise their brains by teaching them how to problem solve and plan. It also gave them an opportunity to interact with other people. Nick is such a great instructor, he made the lessons easy to understand and didn鈥檛 make learning new thing overwhelming. Even when not in class, they play chess with each other and with us. And win or lose, every move they make on the chess board has boosted their self confidence. I have recommended Yes for Chess to so many of my friends and will continue to do so.
