Tisha P.: We booked the CIMBA for a private memorial and scattering of ashes. Our captain, Reno, was wonderful and made the experience better than expected. We’re not from the area, so I was concerned with scheduling blindly with a company but the customer service from the start with SF Bay Adventures to the closing of our trip with Reno was simply incredible!
Ami Jester: We rented the Cimba for a few hours on a beautiful day and had a lovely experience. The captain, Reno, was great and we were able to choose where we wanted to sail that day since it was a private charter. Such an amazing experience! You can bring your own food and wine/beer which is awesome. Have a blast out there!
whiterain4_ pyrotechnics: Gucci
julie Burk: Our sailing experience here was incredible! The boat was beautiful, the crew was lovely and the bay was, of course, such a lovely place to sail in. Would do it again in a heart beat! Take your family and friends, they’ll love it!
Amanda Reven: Great boat ride over to Sausalito. Gorgeous view of the bay and the Golden Gate Bridge!
Craig Marker: One of the best experiences my family and I have ever had together
Jennifer Adkison: It was a quick trip but so awesome. The captain was the best. He took time with all the passengers! I would definitely recommend this tour. Blake Allen is a fantastic sales person.
Julie C (Henwife): We've been twice now, and can't wait to return. Exhilarating, romantic, and a different way to spend date night. You can't beat time on the bay with seasoned sailors, knowledgeable guides, and a relaxing beverage. Friendly crew, stunning views, the moon shimmering on the water... heavenly.
Sandy Morrey: Great trip, and the crew was most accommodating!

Brad Dunshee: Amazing experience. The crew was fantastic and you can't beat the views!
Michele Diamond: So much fun! And freezing cold going under the bridge. You'll love it!! M
Md Shahnur Arefin: Sailing boats are available on rent. Nice to place spend some quality time with loved ones
John Immel: Awesome cruise on the bay. Captain Reno and the crew helped us in so many ways!!!
Andy Salmon: Great trip, boat and crew. This was a last minute trip and we thoroughly enjoyed it.
A’sHat SelfieStick: The best views of Alcatraz, southern Angel Island, southern Belvedere Island, and Northern San Francisco, plus unique views of the Golden Gate Bridge
cathy Kavanagh: What a beautiful boat- no better way to tour the bay. Staff and service are top notch! Great value outing overall. Must do for Bay Area residents 😎
Ruby C Wight: The captain and his staff were conscientious in their work and very kind to make sure each passenger was comfortable. My guest was really cold and they gave him blanket and warm bottle to warm up his legs. A party of 6 was late, they waited for him for an extra 5min more. Highly recommend.
Mary Jordan: Haven't been on her but you couldn't pick a more beautiful boat in the bay to go sailing on.
Nick Fong: Another great adventure on the Freda B, this time a full moon sail. The crew is top notch, deftly switching between technical handling of the boat and servicing and socializing with passengers. Will come again!
Jeff Adams: I took the sunset cruise. If you're thinking, "Is it worth it?" Whole heartedly, YES! Great ship, Captain, and crew including a bar host with a great wine, beer, soda, coffee, and tea selection. You gotta go. Don't underestimate how cold it can get on the water as some of your enjoyment will come from your own warmth. Even in July I thought a ski cap would have been a nice addition. Anyway. DO IT!
Amanda Berling: Saw the 4th of July fireworks and it was a wonderful experience. Captain Paul and his team were great. Very nice of them to let us go downstairs to get warm for a bit even though it was supposed to be closed due to COVID. Highly recommend!
Sylvia Santos: The crew is awesome!😊

Bobby Lamberts: Captain Doug is friendly and very knowledgeable. Such a fun experience. My partner and I went with his family and we all had a blast.
Derek R: We spent a couple hours with Capt. Doug last year and I find myself thinking back often about our excursion on Taihoa. She's a beautiful classic boat and provides a real feeling of nautical history. And Capt. Doug was extremely knowledgeable and made the sail across the bay fantastic.
Michael Guzman: No better way to spend a Friday afternoon than sailing the Richardson Bay on the Taihoa with Captain Doug. His knowledge, expertise & love for sailing make this a whole package for the wooden sailboat enthusiasts. Look forward to the next excursion & highly recommend.
Monica Mathiot: We had a great time and learned lots of information while we were on board would recommend to anyone!
Charlie Kaplan: Great way to experience the Bay area. Doug is a great captain and has lots to share about his special boat and the bay itself
daniel: Captain Doug is a knowledgeable seaman with an historically significant and well maintained craft. He clearly communicates do’s and dont’s and is admirably safety conscious. What sets the Taihoa experience apart is a continuous, exceptionally colorful and accurate history of San Francisco Bay both from above and below the waterline. We had a truly wonderful experience on board with our10 year old grandson. Highly recommended for sea curious spirits of all ages.Daniel Daniloff
Michael Schubert: Captain Doug is AWESOME! We went for my wife’s birthday with a few friends and had a great time, he clearly loves the sailboat and does an amazing job of giving you the history of it, most of which he has put together himself. We will absolutely be going out with him again!
Ruby Barrenechea: This was such a treat. We were expecting something different and instead we got a true experience. The captain was incredibly personable, knowledgeable and eager to share his wisdom with our group. You start with a history of the handmade sail boat which is fascinating. Then a safety plan and on-board rules.Based on the weather the captain will plan a course and begins the sail.We brought a bunch of assorted nibbles yet were having so much fun we didn’t get a change to eat them.Captain Doug will provide you with a wonderful history of the bay and a thrilling time!
Jane Garofalo: My family of 6 went out with Captain Doug on Taihoa and had the most spectacular time in Sausalito Bay! Capt Doug took his time to explain safety measures and made everyone feel as safe as possible. We even got to hoist the sails and steer the boat! Highly recommend booking this for beautiful views and an unforgettable experience.
Jack Harker: Awesome day on the Water with Doug. Great view of the Golden Gate and Alcatraz, smooth conversation, informative information about the harbor history and beautiful vessel full of character. Very special days for me as Taihoa was built by my great grandfather in New Zealand. Doug has done a great job of collecting and preserving the yachts history, I'm glad to see it in safe hands. Looking forwards to a second voyage on our next visit to San Fran!
Lisa Gates: An afternoon sail on the historic Taihoa sailboat with Captain Doug was the perfect finale to my San Francisco vacation! Not only is the beautiful Bay Area special, but Captain Doug made it even more special by sharing historic tales of the San Francisco Bay and of his beloved Taihoa. He made everyone feel safe and comfortable before leaving the dock and provided a hands-on experience for willing passengers to steer the sailboat or hoist the sails. Captain Doug is an interesting, fun and grounded man who clearly enjoys sharing his passion for sailing with others. I highly recommend an afternoon on the Taihoa with Captain Doug! It's truly a memorable and unique experience you should not miss!!
David Kuenzi: Excellent time sailing with Doug!
raychel red: A little thrilling and fun! I felt so safe with a knowledgeable and confident captain. THANK U SIR
Jamison Cote: and just had the best day out there.I hope to use Sail Taihoa again! Thanks Captain Doug!-Jamison Cote
Angela Werner: From start to finish, the experience of sailing Taihoa was positive and incredibly fun. Captain Doug was quick to respond to my messages, was friendly and thoughtful, and planned an unforgettable trip for us around the bay. I highly recommend Sailing Taihoa and plan to do it again in the future.
John Charvat: A awesome afternoon on San Francisco Bay. Windy, choppy and a bit chilly but Captain Doug made you feel safe and sound. Best way to see the sites around the bay. Wind and tides kept us from getting closer to the Golden Gate, but where we were able to go was gorgeous. Boat was super awesome. Old handmade wood sail boat that has seen a lot and is more fun to be on than some modern version. Captain Doug fills you in on its history along with some of the history of the bay. Very interesting and hope to go again and explore another part of the bay with the Captain!!
Lila Rutten: Great sail with Captain Doug! Very knowledgeable and engaging. Experienced sailor with attention to safety and history of his vessel and the area. Highly recommend!
Daniel D: Sailing with Captain Doug was the most fun I've had all summer. We did a loop around Angel Island and had a really great time in the bay. His expertise, professionalism, and skill translated into a seamless and super fun ride. I've been sailing before and he's a great Captain with safety in mind. I honestly could not have had a more fun than with friends on his ketch. Super fun, I can't wait to do it again.
Ryan Coon: A few of us were in the Bay Area 2 weeks ago for the Bulls/Warriors game. I found Sail Taihoa and a few other sailing options on Yelp as a fun Friday daytime activity. We got everything that we were looking for - a beautiful boat, a knowledgable captain, and a lot of SF Bay history. I'm grateful that we made the decision to go out with Captain Doug! I've already recommended Sail Taihoa to a few friends, and would 100% book with him again.

Sarah Daniel: This was so wonderful. But unfortunately they pack the boat a little crowded, not enough comfortable seating room. Feel a bit smushed.
Laura Boucher: We went on the Friday night sunset cruise last night. It was a nice relaxing trip. We used a groupon voucher. It was easy to book our cruise and easy to use the voucher. I was a little nervous about the groupon after reading some of the other reviews, but they have VERY clear instructions on their website. I suggest getting there early to walk around Sausalito and possibly get dinner at one of the many nearby waterfront restaurants and also to find parking. Please pay attention to the hourly rates and hours for the parking lot to avoid a $45 ticket. It is a paid lot until 10pm and the city closely monitors it. I think we'd go back to do a day cruise to try something a little different. Thank you for the wonderful cruise!!
Mohammed Abdullah: One of the best way to spend time with your loved ones.Salute to Captain Pam. Very courteous and wonderful crew.
Victoria Bartell: , but this was not true at least for my February booking. I had to check the site every morning and was lucky to get my desired date before it booked! I read other reviews that said this boat fills up quick so you need to be on top of reservations.Aside from the booking process, the sail couldn't have been better!! I took my sister while she was visiting from out of town over the weekend and we got lucky with some truly perfect weather. The complimentary glass of wine paired beautifully with the warm weather and gorgeous sunset. Get there early so you can be among the first to board and get your choice in seating location. What a great way to see the city!! I would definitely recommend this trip, especially if you've never been out on the bay before or have friends visiting.
Arun Girish: Awesome experience
lynda barber: I have been on the Bay with Captain Pam and every time it is terrific. No one knows the Bay better and I love the sailing experience. Her regular rates are reasonable and her special charters are memorable.
Christine Bryant: Yes it is difficult to book the trip but the tip is book the trip on the 23rd of the month. This is when Captian Pam puts the new schedule online. Go to the website by 7am in the morning. The trip is amazing. We had just enough wind to be under sail. Clay the 1st mate is wonderful. They serve complementary drinks too.
