Paul King: For serious collectors... a San Francisco used ephemera, magazines and books treasure!
Murphy: Ordered item from eBay. Shipped fast, and packaged very well. Highly recommend this seller.
Carlos X: . Will make another appointment when I'm in the city again.
Amanda Keisler: My fave valley book shop. Not that you have many to choose from, anymore. But for great prices on used books, and selling your old books, you can't beat it! PLUS they have cats that live there, it's so charming!
Holger Haase: My kind of second hand book store. Fell totally in love with this place when I visited San Francisco. Tons and tons of often rare paperbacks from the glory days of pulp fiction.
Monterey Hess: awsome for old books

Nikko Cheng: Call ahead if you are planning to visit. I called in the morning and no one answered, and I gave another try in the afternoon and they were open. The owner's daughter, one of the nicest people you will ever meet, is helping her father looking after the shop and she cannot be in two places at once, so the business hours varies. This shop specialized in books on Western US and Pacific regions. However, they recently aquired a lot of incunabula leaves, antique books, maps and vellum letters ranging from 15th to 19th century. There are museum grade pieces that can usually be found on high end auctions. If you are a collector, you are in luck since this is currently one of the few places you can buy them without bidding at the auctions and paying for the premium. I bought a few magazines and memorabilia of San Francisco from the late 19th century, and still concidering buying more.
evan paul: Please update this to let people know you're only open by appointment
Abbey Westbury: What an absolute treasure this bookstore is! The proprietor is a true gentleman and a font of knowledge, everything in his shop is meant to be appreciated and read. Everything has a beautiful story. We felt like we were getting a private tour of the rare books section of a library. We found some lovely books, discovered beautiful prints, and were charmed by antique postcards, but the emotional experience is really made our visit to the Argonaut unbeatable.
Lucy: Owner is very nice and was pretty helpful, might even tell you a story or two. A lot of books were more expensive than I thought they would be but that's probably because I was looking in the glass case. Pretty well organized and run for a used bookstore, especially with prices.
Patricia Hawbaker: Solid book store. Not what I was looking for, did know where I could find it though.
Emelda Kerkhoff: What an unexpected joy to visit this bookstore. The owners are knowledgeable and open to sharing all kinds history. Even if you dont stop by for a purchase stop by for a fun filled and enlightening history of the area.
