joseph borovich: It was very nice to ride through the park and onto the beach. The park is very nice and somehow cut off from the surrounding city. We crossed a few streets and were on the beach with the ocean on one side and San Francisco on the other.The ride was beautiful and very relaxing. The horses were great. They handled the people and the dogs that greeted us along the way with ease. Our guide, Sierra, was very nice and had some pleasant conversation along the way.This was a unique way to spend some time in San Francisco and I would recommend it to anyone who wanted to see the coast from a unique perspective.

Cynthia Veronica: In general I have had good experiences at Chaparral Golden Gate. The last time, with Trisha, it was not as great. We got to the lesson early for a 30 minute lesson, she asked for additional time with the previous client, and I obliged. However, she tried to end my child’s lesson early. When I asked for additional time to get close to the 30 minutes on a horse, she said ok grudgingly. When the lesson ended she didn’t even look in my direction and walked away as she sent my child off to walk on her own towards me. It felt disrespectful. Also during the lesson, she was seated pretty much the entire time. Other instructors have been much more engaged.
Daisy Huerta: A beautiful experience! The horses are well trained and everyone there was very kind and helpful with pairing us with a horse based on our experience. Loved it! Definitely going back!

Syd Anderson: I won my 1st trophy and Blue Ribbon at Mar Vista in 1961 riding Stormy in my very 1st horse show!!!! Such memories. What wonderful times I had every Saturday morning at 7 AM during my lessons. English, thankyou very much. I remember we had to hold 50 cent pieces between our knees and the saddle when posting during the trot. Our own 50 cent pieces, and man oh man, was I ever careful.Thankyou for the memories!!!!Syd
stephen easter: We looked at doing horse riding whilst in yosemite but unable to.Up popped Mar Vista in San Fran and WOW 👌 the trail ride on the beach was very peaceful and relaxing.Would love to see how much they do in the next few months on improvements but everything was great for the ride and all the staff ! Def recommend for a visit as can see they care about the horses and want to help improve the well being.

Kate H: We had an incredible Mother's Day trail ride with Mar Vista Stables. THis was my 8-yr-old son's first trail ride and they did an excellent job instructing him how to handle the horse; when we were leaving he told me: "That was AWESOME." The views were spectacular, the guides were friendly and capable. Whether you are a local or visiting, I highly recommend Mar Vista.

I would not have thought to be able to ride horseback on the coast and beach just~15 minutes from San Francisco.Also appreciate the time they take to teach you how to ride and why they give the tips they do. Makes you want to get into it more.

Tanya Stevenson: My son has been taking lessons here for several years and loves it. The instructors are incredible and their rates are far lower than other Equestrian Centers in the area.There is no doubt that they have instilled a love of riding that will last a lifetime!

Cecelia Fortier: Really wish thus place was not going out of business. The closing of iconic and historical place is a real tragedy. I will absolutely miss this place and truly wish this wasn't so. 💔

AKIYAMA Shimon: It's an elegant racetrack along the coast, and although it's rarely seen in San Francisco tourist guides, it's a very nice place.Santa Anita has the edge because it has cool mountains behind the course and better facilities, but this one is also unique with a pond in the center of the course and a view of the city behind it. It has a very traditional atmosphere, and the audience is very enthusiastic, so you can fully experience the atmosphere of overseas horse racing, which is different from Japan.Apparently, the racecourse itself will close down in 2024, so I'm glad I was able to see it for the last time.
victor damone (Sticky vic): What a shame that the GGF is closing. We love going here and have been for 10+ years. We enjoy getting dressed up and eating brunch at the turf club. Truly heart breaking to see the end of an era for the bay area
Equestrian Games: Great place to watch horse racing. Nice staff. So very tragic to see this place close! This place is iconic. If the footing needed to be updated to keep this place open they should host a fundraiser. Many people would attend! Or petition for it to become a historical landmark as it truly is! So very sad to see this place go. 😢
Stacey Butler: Wonderful place, had a great time with family, learned how to bet the ponys, and chatted with other patrons, very fun time. Going back on next Sunday for 1$ dollar days, was not disappointed, but found out that its closing down soon. Food was nice just pricey, be sure 2 bring a pen or pencil. Don't need much money to bet on the ponys. Enjoy while you can, won't be there much longer.
Gary Ellinger: Had a great time won 250 dollars. Surecwish the track wasn't closing. It's like my home away from home. I'll miss going to the Turf Club.
HooDat DonDar: Good food, and good facilities to watch the races.I found that out because a guy in North Beach called Ira gave me an inside tip on a hot horse in the third race. It was a good idea - except that my horse was still running in the third when they started the fourth.All I had left of my bankroll was an empty feeling. So, I limbered up my thumb, and hitched a ride back to town. You’ll find me there, at Pier 19 on the waterfront in San Francisco. If you have something that needs doing, and are ready to fill the empty, I’m:Pat Novak - for hire.
