User FAQs

The beach is located on the San Mateo Coast, north of Montara on Highway One.

The only available automobile parking is on the east side of Highway 1. Please note that crossing to the ocean side of the highway can be both difficult and dangerous.

Chemical toilets are located in the upper lot on the east side of Highway 1. There are also trash receptacles available in the parking lot. However, there are no restrooms or trash pickup on the west side of Highway 1.

Gray whales can often be seen migrating close to shore, making this beach a great spot for whale watching.

A steep trail leads down to the beach, and there are also trails east of Highway 1 that offer scenic views of the surrounding area. Dogs are allowed on these trails, but must be kept on a leash no longer than six feet at all times.
