The roof access closes at 4:30pm on days when the site is open.

Take Highway 101 North or South, exit at the Golden Gate Bridge toll plaza at the south end of the bridge. From the south, turn right at the end of the exit ramp, or from the north, go straight on Merchant Drive. Then, turn left onto Lincoln Boulevard, take a left onto Long Avenue, and follow onto Marine Drive.

Yes, there is a small bookstore inside the fort, and restrooms are available outside the fort, approximately 100 yards away from the fort, down the main road on the right side.

Pets are not allowed inside the fort, but they are allowed outside, on the grounds.

You can expect to see a historic fort with a fantastic view of the Golden Gate Bridge, as well as interesting and dynamic exhibits for the whole family. The site is perfect for photos of the bridge and for watching surfers. There is also a walk-through museum on the second floor, and the rangers are very nice.
