Chateau Montelena - San Francisco Tasting Room: what do users think?

Hanne Porse: The best wine tasting ever forgot the name of the guy there, but we had the best wine private tasting ever, if we had more time here in San Francisco we would definitely go there again, the wines is exceptional so sad it is too expensive to send the wines to Australia

Kaitlin Harbeck: I was so excited to be able to try some of this fabled winery's selections on a recent trip to San Francisco. Rex was a knowledgeable and welcoming host -- you're in for a treat if you visit and he is your tasting associate.

Brianne Hall: was my tasting attendant and he was extremely knowledgeable, professional, but also very approachable and relatable. Easily the best tasting experience I’ve had in a long time. I’d recommend stopping in especially if he is working - truly exemplary.

Alan Daehnke: Russell was fantastic! Knowledgeable, kind and very aware. Wines were great and such a treat to have an official tasting right in San Francisco.

Martin Scott: $40 per tasting but as always great wines

John Burke: Such an amazing find. I didn’t expect to see the name Chateau Montelena right here in downtown SF but was pleasantly surprised to find their tasting room off the lobby of the Westin. Ward took amazing care of me and the other couple that arrived at the same time. Had some amazing wines, guided along the way by his vast knowledge of the vineyard and the wines themselves. A really awesome and intimate tasting experience right in the middle of a city? Yes please! Sent a bunch of amazing bottles back home to NY before I left, too!

Keith Nelson: This was a great experience. The gentleman giving us the tasting was very well educated and came across as knowledgeable. We had a good time.

Peter den Hartog: Lovely tasting room in SF if you can't make it to the winery. You can just enjoy the wines or geek out with the somm.

Dayton Brown: Russell took very good care of us. Very cozy tasting room.

Houdini: One of the best and acclaimed wineries in California. If you can't make it to the winery itself, this is a great alternative. Try the estate cab, it's the best.

Nicolas Diaz: Russell is an amazing host! He is very knowledgeable and friendly. The wines poured are exquisite.

Beerad Cee (beeradcee): the tasting room was a wonderful perk that ended up being a highlight of our trip. the host was highly knowledgeable and generous with his time. we learned so much about the wine and the winery and would highly recommend the wine and the tasting room. having just come from Napa it was nice to squeeze in one more tasting.

Anthony Evans: Russell took great care of us and explained the winery background. He's a true professional and obviously takes great pride in Chateau Montelena. The tasting is well worth your time. We enjoyed every selection and purchased two bottles of the Cabernet Estate for dinner. It was wonderful.

Stella Hernandez: questions.Be prepared to fall in love with:- Their Wine- Excellent Service- Beautiful Chateau & Grounds- Buy some wine to take home

Kim Cafaro: We visited the tasting room during Covid restrictions. Russell was knowledgeable and so very kind to our party during our time in the tasting room. Even with restrictions he was able to make us feel well cared for and helped us select a beautiful wine to enjoy during our stay.

Brian Johnsonbaugh: I've read some mixed reviews but as usual there's always someone isn't happy. My wife has wanted to visit the chateau since seeing the movie Bottle Shock, so on our visit to S F we made the trip. We were not disappointed. The grounds and chateau are beautiful. We were lucky enough to get Mark for our tasting. Typically on tastings we've run into hosts who are either sadly inept or arrogant. Mark was very knowledgeable and very easy to talk to. Thanks Mark for your time, you made our trip one we'll remember for years to come.

Batchu Poojita: He was very friendly and knowledgeable person. He treats each customer with utmost interest and respect. He offers 5 different kinds of wine for tasting and if at all you are willing to buy wine worth more than 100 your tasting fee is waived off. Price is reasonable.

Cesar Cancino: 1st class wine bar with an excellent staff!

Rae Zachary: We met business partners for an after work get together. The wine selection is really good and you can get munchies but they come from the place next door. The staff is friendly, but not terribly attentive. We had to flag someone down a couple of times to order.

San Francisco Wine Society: what do users think?

David Shreni: Such an amazing venue. Great for after work crowd. When not crowded, it’s perfect for having an after work convo. Love love loveAnd you can tell they pay attention to detail because the bathrooms are the best in the city.

Cori Williams: are knowledgeable and willing to help.you find a wine you like. Cozy environment and would be an amazing date spot!

Forrest Spellman: Been here a few times for drinks or a happy hour and SF Wine Society is a gem. It has a fun bocce court, is well decorated with a sense of atmosphere, and the folks here really know a lot about wine. And as random a compliment as this is to give, the bathroom here is seriously decadent, beautifully designed and fancy??? I think that alone is a testament to the care put into this place. All the food is really delicious so I recommend getting something to go along with your drinks!

SJ: Glass of wine--an amazing find in SF Financial District. San Francisco Wine Society is a hidden gem on Merchant Street [alley] off Battery street. The beautifully decorated sitting area of padded leather chairs and tables and comfortably dark and subdued decorating are the perfect backdrop to enjoy a great glass of wine and light bites. Sat at the bar and chatted up Chris and Erik, the sommelier, who told me that there are over 50 wines by the glass on the menu. Rare to find wine bars that serve so many choices from other countries. Debated between having a glass of French, Italian, Greek, Croatian, and Spanish wine. Erik was able to speak expertly about each choice and guide me to something I really enjoyed. They have an interesting and tasty light bites menu if you'd like to nibble while enjoying your glass. Worth a stop just for the experience.

Steven Buss Bacio: Beautiful space with a great wine selection

Cristina Noujaim: Recommended dishes

Deanna Shaw: Great wine selection and Bocci ball. Very comfortable vibe, places to sit and have a good conversation. Food was great, compliments the wine.

Shayne Mathews: Nice wine flight options, good food and prompt service. The place has a nice laid back ambience.

Alex Campbell: Such a delightful place to spend a Saturday afternoon. Just don’t make any plans afterwards!

Donkey & Goat Winery, Tasting Room & Wine Shop: what do users think?

Ashley Fortenberry: Visited this place for the first time yesterday and I will definitely be back.Easy parking, clean, open, and well-decorated.Wonderful customer service - no complaints here AT ALL. Shout out to Erika. She appeared to be the main representative in the front - taking orders for your tastings, allowing you to taste a nice and beautiful variety of wines, and bringing your selections to your table. She was gracious, generous, and very knowledgeable about the wines. They have such a unique selection and amalgamation of wines. If you are a wine lover – come here! It’s local, different, and delicious.I will certainly be back!Thank you, Erika. All the best to the Donkey & Goat Family.

Joni Lemieux: Amazing place! Very friendly and knowledgeable! First time visiting and we were there on a Thursday afternoon.

Audrey Taylor: Had some amazing wine, cute lil spot, the owner was super friendly and knowledgeable.

Dan Mehler: Love their natural wine, particularly the unique, skin contact whites, oranges and pinks. Don't usually like Rose but love their Isabel. Stonecrusher is one of my favorite wines and I always love the Twinkle to pair with bbq and sunshine. Two other bottles I can never have enough of are the Grenache Blanc and the Pinot Gris. We love 🐴 & 🐐 and are happy and proud to be long term members!

Alyssa Kay: Went here for First Friday and it was spectacular!! The pet nat is SO GOOD

queen adams: Great Wine 🍷 entertainment and the Pizza 🍕 delicious

Dean Sofer: First Fridays of the month for multiple vendors

Janaki V: Amazing wine tasting experience. We have two chilled wines - twinkle and cannonball. The Bear was fantastic too. Cat friendly place so bring them.

Julia Gooding: Nice wines and good amount of outdoor seating. Flights were a bit expensive, service was inconsistent, some seemed very friendly, our particular server seemed like she was having a bad day. Seems to have a strong following and an OG urban, sustainable winery. In a neighborhood with a few other wineries.

Prima Materia Winery Tasting Room: what do users think?

Eryn Cangi: excellent vibes, wine, service, everything!

Colin Noel: Wine was so good and service was excellent. They are so nice here and passionate about their craft!2

Shauntay Shauntay: 1st time for everything. For these pricese might have to make this a weekend spot ??

John Gainey: : low key, enjoyable experience. I'd come back again to enjoy some pleasant wine tasting close to home. The good: interesting varietals at a good price. Our server was very nice. The menu explains the varietals nicely so that you knew what to expect from wines you've probably not heard of before. Saves a lot of questions.the bad: nothingThe mediocre: I guess you could call the ambiance around where we were seated as nothing terribly special, but it didn't detract from the wine tasting either.

chris hartmann: Nice wine

Patricia Williams: and thanks to a Open Table email with suggestions in my neighborhood I made a reservation @ Prima Materia Winery for 4.00pm the weather couldn’t have been better 😎. Parking was hard to find 😟. Once we arrived at the winery things got better. We were seated immediately, actually given options as to where we’d like to sit ✨ Or waitress was very attentive and descriptive of the wine menu ✨ordered a 6 wine 🍷 tasting flight ✈️ along with a cheese and chorizo tray, it was all very tasty. Reasonable priced, great service and good wine 🍷. Felt good to be outdoors and support our local neighborhood business during a time when restaurants and bars have been grievously affected. I’ll definitely be taking flight to return to Prima Materia Winery Tasting Room in The Temescal ❣️

Vikram Prakash: Small and intimate wine tasting venue with a lovely selection of wines all coming from the Prima Materia Winery. The menu also includes information about the winery and the grapes which we found to be very helpful. The service was great and most importantly the wine is really good. Highly recommended to not miss this gem if you are in the area. We went before going to dinner and it was perfect!

Anthony Atlas: Great tasting option, nice spot to relax

Ian R: Teeny tiny wine tasting shop with about 12 seats, maybe. Feels like you're trying wine in someone's mother's eat-in kitchen. And I mean that in a good way! Highly knowledgeable and friendly staff. A really nice place to stay a little while and sip wine.

Andy: Love it!

Peter Hollingsworth: Nice little spot in Temescal alley. Very good wine with some unusual grapes. Proprietor is extremely knowledgeable but nothing snooty or precious about the place. If you are thinking of going, you should go.

Cynthia G: This is such a cute tasting shop. I like bold/robust reds and this place has it! The wines are from the kelseyville region of CA. Great place for a date but it is small. If you're into local wine shops, or memberships definitely check this out.

Devin Ramdutt: Cute local tasting room in Oakland. Stopped in after doing a cooking course in Berkeley where these wines were featured. Definitely pop in and support some local entrepreneurs.

Tor Aksel Notland Heirung: Stopped in here for a tasting. The wines were really nice and the place has a cozy, relaxed vibe. Will definitely be back!
