Glen Thomas: Very peaceful spot with friendly management. But books here and go to their jazz shows!

Annette A Aguilar: Best in books and music

Darryl Diptee: . May want to call ahead to get your name on the list for entry, just in case as it's limited seating. A very unique experience, great for a date night ☺️

Stuart Fitzgerald: Best books & best live jazz. A San Francisco staple. The whole operation is run by Eric. One of the nicest human beings you will ever encounter.

Jon MacLellan: Attended a jazz tribute concert. Amazing host. Book store is a staple of the community.

malavika: one of the best places in the neighborhood. lovely bookstore that hosts live music performances mostly open to everyone. such a treasure!will highly recommending getting your books here to support an amazing local business!

Jeff: Is it unfair to rate a bookstore that I've only visited after hours? Not if it's to review world-class jazz at said bookstore! My wife & I saw the Joe McKinley quartet last week and it was a fantastic experience. As a band, you have to be tight if you're going to play in a bookstore because the acoustics are so intimate. No reverb to cover up mistakes, and these guys were top-notch. They played some standards and some originals, and it was all great stuff.

Justin Chiang: great collection, lovely store

Julia Selker: I am a seasoned bookstore tourist. I have never had such a transcendental hour at a bookstore. They have an expertly balanced selection of old friends and new discoveries all organized in a perfect orientation for extended browsing while live music enhances the atmosphere. Live music! Shelves not overcrowded but still pleasantly abundant, with mysterious extra piles in little corners. Brilliant and effective - will transport you entirely.

Marilyn Sullivan: Wonderful bookstore, and jazz too!

Stanley Pollack: Great little venue for great jazz musicians. Respectful audience. Eric is the consummate host.

Suvrajit Saha: Charming book store with some of the best live jazz in the city....a true hidden gem 💎

Andrew Peterson: Dense book shop with jazz many evenings. Neighborhood vibe.

Krishin Asnani: I wish I could buy this entire store ; its design and display achieves a sublime balance between high art and warmth ; your eye flits amongst books and posters and makes unexpected connections ; this does result in nice impulsive buying; I will visit more often as I am registered to take a modern architecture class at Stanford. Vernon and staff are well informed, dispatching their knowledge with ease and warmth.

Gary Yan: bookstore.

Faraz Sahba: but they have an amazing collection. The lady in the store spent time discussing ballet and Russian Romanticism with me

Eli: Globus Books is a lovely little bookstore located on Balboa. It's packed with fiction and nonfiction in Russian, Ukrainian, Belarusian, and English. The bookstore has that great book smell and is lined from floor to ceiling in packed-full bookshelves. The woman running it was incredibly kind and pointed me to the English section. It was mostly translations from Russian, and I walked out with an Anton Chekov book of short stories. If you're in the area, it's totally worth it to visit Globus Books, especially if you're bilingual.

Cody Fry: I loved the vibe when I walked into Globus Books. When I stepped through the door I was immediately absorbed by the enormous collection of Russian/Ukrainian & other literature. The store owner helped me find exactly what I was looking for to aid in my studies. 100% will revisit!

Bakulia: The woman who works there is very pleasant and helpful. A great selection of Russian books and literature

Dmitri Manin: Humongous selection, knowledgeable and friendly people.

Simon Vishnevskiy: Stopped by with my mother to pick up Russian books and magazines. Amazing place, huge curated selection and a vey nice lady that works there. Little gem for all Russian/Ukranian speakers

Simon Efremoff: Super. Thank you for the rare but significant books for human civilization

Ryan S: Ordered online. I was so pleased with the pricing and care that went into the packaging of my items. If I'm ever on the west coast, I'll be sure to stop in.

Nick Taber: Amazing little store. Very nice lady working. Makes me wish I knew Russian.

Irina Kostyleva: Ordered books from this bookshop a few times online, always impressed with the very careful wrapping. Thanks a lot!

Ariel: , but also because my love for this store knows no bounds. It’s truly my dream come true. A bookstore that specializes in horror, Sci-Fi, and fantasy? Are you KIDDING ME? Take my money. Not to mention the owner is kind and welcoming, Jude is an absolute doll, and Eleanor is everything I hope to be in life… Borderlands is a must. An institution. You’ll always find something here 💛🔪

Chris Conrad: Best sf/f selection in the entire region!!

Lindsey Hall: It's a bookstore filled with sci fi/fantasy and horror. Inherently delightful. On top of that you can tell the employees love these genres and helping people find books they'll love. I was lucky to come in while Scott was working and his recommendations were spot on first try. Easily one of the best experiences I've had in a bookstore.

Jason Siow: Amazing place for sci fi and fantasy. Got all 3 books of The Farseer Trilogy used for $16.

Eli: I came in during the holidays for a last-minute gift. Russian Hill Bookstore: what do users think?

Ariel: What can I say about Russian Hill Bookstore that hasn’t already been said? I’ve been to many bookstores in SF and naturally I love them all because, hello, books. But RHB is something special. The staff are SO KIND, the gift area up front is full of cute stuff, the greeting cards are plentiful and is my go-to for card-worthy-occasions, the children’s section is adorable and although I’m an adult you can bet I’ve bought a Jellycat plushie for myself. They even have a horror section which, ugh, fills my heart ever so. For me that’s the mark of a good bookstore, but I am creepily biased. Also I LOVE that they started carrying minis in the store!!! Smiskis, people, SMISKIS!! RHB has only gotten better through the years and I can’t wait to continue watching them flourish. A must if you’re in the area.

ha ngan le: This bookstore becomes one of my favorite 5 minutes stepping in!!!!!! Its a used bookstore and the selection has like toni morisson, james baldwin, viet thanh nguyen, etc like all my favs?! They also has a vintage/ archive selection of photos and cards please please check out

Taro Sato: , and we have fewer used bookshelves in the Bay Area compared to just a few years ago. It's not a large store but I like Russian Hill Bookstore for its quirky

Emil Roennow: Amazing 😍

Pia Relles-Powell: and the shop keepers were knowledgeable and well informed with recommendations which he loved. I’m so grateful for your assistance in making it a great birthday for him.

F W: Okayish selection, a bit on the expensive side.

Nicole Segura: It's a very cozy bookstore. I love that they also have other things, like candles, boardgames, notebooks, cups, even socks that work great for small gifts. One of my favorite things is going through the old photo collection in the back.

Graham Willcox: an incredible place for young kids & their under caffeinated parents

Tori C: and they explained they can make drinks more dry upon request. I was trying to communicate that I wanted a cappuccino as a cappuccino not a flat white type drink and well that didnt go well.It was like a weird cross between a macchiato and an attempted cap, the foam was thrown on top like it had been spooned out separately and there wasnt the normal natural transition from the milk to the foam. It was so disheartening. I did try to drink it but the flavor and textures were so off i truly couldnt.Back to something good tho, I got a normal green tea another day and it was good to drink and have with the sweets treats i could not keep myself away from haha.I would still go back and I do still recommend. Maybe just dont go with the mindset of having a normal cappuccino like I did.

Laura Austin: This place was so cute

Ksenia Postolnik: definitely come back!🎈

Joan Nguyen: I got the iced matcha latte with oat milk and vanilla sweetner. It was really good quality and one of the best matchas i’ve had so far in SF! Drink was a rich green color, so that was a tell tale sign it was good quality matcha.-1 star because the only alternative milk they have is oat milk. I would love if they had almond or soy too.

Ana Vizcarrondo Goyanes: Incredible pastries, I tried the tahini brownie and the babka

Ariana Ïoana: Tasty pricey cakes & lush backyard to relax, read, and enjoy the sweets ✨

Chereeka Biln: Beautiful bookshop with a wonderful selection of reads. Quiet reading garden was a great spot to sip my tea.

Jon Nykamp: This is a nice bookstore located in a great neighborhood near the beach and at least one great restaurant. There is a very nice garden in back where kids can play with trains while the adults sit near them and enjoy good coffee available at the Cafe.

徐一凡: Great human and cultural connection.

Sunstruck T.: Small but insightful bookstore with friendly staff. More non-fiction than fiction, and the fiction runs more on the literary side, but there are a few sci-fi/fantasy gems throughout the store. They also a good selection of books about San Francisco and the Bay Area at-large, particularly focusing on its communities of color.

Sonny Jasper Sauviller: Found a book I've been looking all over for by chance here. They've got everything. Philosophy section is small though.

Gabriela Campos: Favorite bookstore in the city. Fantastic selection and great service. Knowledgeable and kind people, in a charming neighborhood bookstore, what more do you need? Highly recommend.

Yasmin Moghadamnia: A wonderful experience. I was backpacking through SF and hitting all the bookstores I can, while listening to Jack Kerouac’s “big Sur” and “Tristessa” on audible. Just like him I had blisters on my feet but I was happy. I came across the green Arcade bookstore and immediately felt the need to go in, even though I had already filled two backpacks with books. I met Patrick, the wonderful owner, and I started talking to him about my life-long love for Iris Murdoch. He told me his spouse is a “Murdoch-completist”. “A what?” I asked. “Means he has read all her work”.And we talked and talked. I told him how much I love Murdoch and we discussed all the beautiful musics and books we could. The store is beyond GORGEOUS. You can find old simenons, Didion and Babitz, a bunch of poetry. Rich in LGBTQ lit. Love love love it.A jewel in the city of SF.

Bill Shippen (Bill): They have a great selection, I just wish we could browse the store! Damn COVID-19...
