The park is located via Highway 138, 11 miles east of I-15; or 20 miles north of San Bernardino via Highways 18 & 138. You can also type in Silverwood Lake State Recreation Area or 13990 Sawpit Canyon Rd, Hesperia, CA, 92345 into your GPS device for best results.

Dogs are allowed in campgrounds, picnic areas, and parking lots, and on boats. However, they are not allowed on the beach or in the water. They must be on a leash at all times when on trails.

The park has a summer weekend and holiday fee of $20 per vehicle from Memorial Day Weekend to Labor Day Weekend on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. You can pay at the kiosk attendant with credit card or cash (exact change appreciated) or use the Yodel parking app. The park also accepts certain State Park Passes, including the Limited Use Golden Bear Pass (not valid on Fridays before Memorial Day through Labor Day).

Campfires are allowed in the campground in park-provided fire rings. You can also use charcoal in park-provided grills in the campground and designated picnic areas. However, portable charcoal barbeques, ground fires, or other portable wood-burning fire pits or devices are not permitted due to potential fire danger.

The park offers a range of activities, including fishing (with a California State Fishing License), hiking on trails, and water sports. You can also enjoy a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of city life in the park's scenic surroundings.
