Becky Peltier: A very welcoming environment for people of all skill levels, and very accommodating for folks new to Capoeira and martial arts in general.
Craig G: I’ve been training with Aranhe for a little over a year now and it’s been an incredible journey so far. Not only is this chronic desk jockey getting in better shape but I’m more flexible and agile at 40 than I’ve ever been and getting better!
K H: This place is the best! My 8 year old son is loving the classes and learning so much. The instructors are fun, engaging, very knowledgeable and kind. Highly recommend!
Chris Q: I have been coming to ACL for about 2 months now after wanting to get back in shape after my surgery and injury. While I have had trained in various martial arts throughout my life, I wasn't entirely sure what to expect from capoeira. Honestly, I was a bit nervous wanting to try this out since I wasn't sure what I can and cannot do physically anymore. However, I'm so glad I started! Training with Mestre Aranha has been very positive and fun! When I entered this studio I was out of definitely out of shape, not as confident in my physical abilities, and just overall, a bit nervous. But Mestre Aranha has been very patient, easy, and overall just a great teacher. He's the type of teacher that genuinely wants you to get better every single time you enter the studio. Not only that, he has created a culture of positivity and motivation among the students. Everyone is willing to help you get better no matter what rank you are or what they are. It has been a very fun experience. So, if you're simply looking for a place where you can earn belts/cords as quickly as possible - this isn't it. But if you want to come to learn fun, unique, martial arts, and improve your overall fitness abilities - come check out ACL. I promise you won't be disappointed.
quinna2992: After years of watching youtube videos and looking at Capoeira online I finally decided to look into learning it, I emailed Mestrando Aranha with some questions about classes and he got back to me within a few hours and offered a free class to see if I liked it, having now taken that free class it was clear to me he was passionate about Capoeira and I definitely plan on coming back!
Rony Costa: Aranha is training capoeira for over 20 years and he is one of the best teachers that we had a pleasure to train with. I wish I were close to Sacramento so I could train with him as well.
Michael Landaeta: Aranha is a well-versed and very knowledgeable capoeira teacher. You wont regret taking a class with him.He is very patient with everyone, if you're a beginner you have nothing to worry about. He'll make sure that everything you do, you do well.
Odan Cruz: Mestre Aranha is an overall great guy. He is a man 100% dedicated to the art form of capoeira and will teach you a lot if you let him.
Eugene Rivers II: I had my first official Capoeira workshop with Aranha in 2010. It was the first event that truly kept me training in the following years. Always dedicated to his craft and students, Aranha takes the time to help each student understand the art and culture that is Capoeira. I've had the opportunity to spend a lot of time with Aranha's students and we all feel the same way. You leave his classes exhausted, but you've made a few friends along the way.
JP: Aranha is a skillful, thoughtful, clear, and motivating person. He will make you want to be the best person you can be in all ways, inside and outside of the academy. The workouts are both difficult and rewarding for everyone and he'll be right there with you working through them.
Kele Todd: I trained with Mestre Aranha for about three years. He has a relaxed and straightforward method of instruction that manages to put you at ease while allowing you to understand all the subtleties of a particular movement or sequence. His classes are engaging, full of energy, and a CRAZY good workout. In addition to all that, Aranha's just a really great guy, and his classes are super fun. I'd definitely recommend trying his school out - you'll be glad you did. Axé!
D Wilson: Before his move to California, I had Aranha as my teacher in Tallahassee. He's very skilled in capoeira and an amazing teacher. He's very patient and always willing to bring the best out of you. I never experienced any workout like I did when I attended his classes. 10/10 would definitely ache like that again.
Joshua Scott: Aranha is a great guy to train with, really down to earth, funny and a way of teaching complex movements and sequences in an intuitive way that makes them seem easy.
brian depue: I trained capoeira for over 5 years and Aranha was one of the best teachers I had. His attention to detail was second to none. He has a great personality -serious about the art but never without a smile on his face. He also has the ability to give you one of the best workouts of your entire life. Train here... NOW!
Candy Cane: Mestre Aranha is an engaging, patient, and effective instructor with years of experience. He brings an unparalleled level of fun and energy to every class he instructs. Highly recommended. Training with him is a great experience for people of all levels.
Peter Spear: This was one of if not the best Mestrados I have ever trained under, I would train under him in a heart beat if he was closer. Takes the time and teaches you properly, and makes sure you understand it, unlike alot of other places out there that just want money. This is his passion and he wants to share it with everyone.
Aaron Whitchurch: Very welcoming and accommodating; regardless of your experience level they will make sure that you are included. Capoeira is an awesome way to get into fitness, and this group will absolutely keep you motivated to stay with it.
Joyleigh Alkire: Mestrando Aranha's classes are challenging and fun. He is passionate about fitness and teaching Capoeira and it is contagious.
Natalie Castillo: Aranha is not only a patient and effective instructor, but also a kind and knowledgeable one. He teaches all of the aspects of the art and creates a comfortable and safe learning environment.Definitely try his class. You will love it!

Selysa Love: Very intuitive teacher. Each class is different and exciting. He mixes a combination of yoga, capoeira, tai-chi, and chi-gong. He eloquently blends physical and spiritual practice which enriches the experience.Positive Communication, Quality, Professionalism, Value …
Algodao: While I am from a different group, Professor Feriado welcomed me into his class with open arms from day one. I love training with him. He is an amazingly supportive teacher. Great communication and feedback. It will test you physically, emotionally and mentally. The support and lessons you will receive training here are invaluable. Whether you have trained capoeira before or not, you will not be disappointed! I highly recommend!!
Larry Carr: Great performers. Would recommend to others!
Romba Ambor: This is the place for capoeira in Sacramento because they teach culture, philosophy, and music in a way to make the movement what it should be. Also, the group is very invested in the community.
Ash: I absolutely love this place! From the samba classes to Capoeira for my little one and I, there are so many ways to learn about the Brazilian culture. This is an amazing space with great teachers that I recommended to everyone
Tina Shaw: Great teacher and family friendly.
Anxiety Girl (macanac): A little bit of time has past. A ton of progress and life’s changed. I am profoundly grateful for Professor and his beautiful and inspiring atmosphere he creates for his students. For the Young, or young at heart. His guidance is spiritual and at times hypnotic for my son. His teaching brings joy and a bit of peace to my lovely little family. I do not participate in his classes, but his impact on my son has been remarkable. My son is more confident, focused, and smiles. Looks forward to class, reminds of the dates and time. I am Passionate about this beautiful art because it is helping repair damage and lends hope that all will be ok in the end. And if it’s not ok, it just means it not the end.
Dawn Sumner: I really enjoyed my class! The energy was great. I highly recommend trying a capoeira class with Professor Feriado!

Irina Badalyan: My kids love to come here. All instructors are very respectful and dedicated. A very welcoming environment.
Jamie Randy: We love this woman owned studio! Master P and her incredible staff really invests into the journey of each athlete. My daughter has been so inspired by her and the other female black belts that have taught and encouraged her. Highly recommend!
Pamela Aguinaldo: We've been with The Studio since last year, when our kids started in the Tigers program. Our son is currently in the Kids' Color Belt program, and it's been wonderful to see him stay in it, and enjoy something that he speaks to others about. He's a very wiggly kid who has a hard time staying put. Regardless the staff is well-versed with kids like him. They are still gentle, but firm and very professional.I'm not sure if other studios do the same thing, but there are also a lot of older kids who have black belts, who co-teach the classes. I think that's a good thing - in one sense you can see what your child can potentially be in the future, and in another those instructors' loyalty further reassures how well the programs are ran. We're definitely looking forward to our son's continued progress in the program.
Shariff: I have a 4 year old son who is now a TKD fanatic thanks to the studio. Master P runs a great program that isn’t just interested in teaching kids to kick. There’s a big focus on child safety, physical fitness, memorization, physical discipline, good listening, and self esteem. The instructors are wonderful, and my kiddo excitedly asks “do I have taekwondo today?!” every single day, even though he only has class twice a week 😂.UPDATE:My kiddo has been doing TKD with the studio for three years now and he totally gets hyped about attending tournaments and is already visualizing being a black belt one day. There’s something really impressive at how dedicated these kids become to the sport, and how much of that dedication comes from within.
Marci Rayl: To say The Studio has had a positive impact on mine and my child's life is an understatement. I never imagined myself ever doing any form of martial arts as it is way out of my comfort zone. I began my journey to the Studio as I wanted to give my small young child the gift of self defense as it is my job to prepare her for this crazy world we live in. I knew I would have to be a role model for her to want to fully engage and I am so proud of myself and her for stepping out of our comfort zone and becoming slowly but surely confident martial artists. In addition to us developing these skills together, we get to compete as a family on a regular basis which adds to the layers of our relationship and will have a positive impact as we will contiue to compete together until she leaves the nest one day. Master P is an inspiration to say the least, but there are so many other woman and young woman in leadership roles at the Studio who are always encouraging myself and my dauther to be our best. If you have ever condisdered trying martial arts, I assure you the Studio is the place you want to be!
Jeff: My girls have been going for two years and we are continuously impressed with the instruction of both taekwondo and life lessons. The instructors are top notch and would recommend to anyone.
Brook Crossman: The Studio offers a great taekwondo experience with skilled instructors who are dedicated to each student's growth. Their focus on discipline, respect, and perseverance creates a welcoming and supportive environment.
Raymond Chen: Master P and her crew are very accommodating and generous to her students. My son regularly takes the courses, and her and her staff are very welcoming and make sure they are accommodating to his skill level. They have great promotions, like free lessons for mothers and fathers during Mother's and Father's Day respectively, as well. Being a father myself, I was able to take advantage of the free lessons and even was able to take on a free sword lesson as Master P's guest because they had a substitute at the time and wants me to only pay for the session when it is the actual instructor. Definitely come check them out
Cody Miles: This studio has been great for our daughter. She is learning life lessons along with her physical skills. The instructors are wonderful and extremely knowledgeable. Worth checking into if you are looking for a place.
Aston Ferland: Love it here
Ashlee West: My son is learning so much more than just martial arts. It’s health, life skills, character AND self control! Pretty amazing stuff for a 5 year old! Him and my husband go together. It’s a great family lifestyle and I’m so grateful. Can’t wait for our youngest to join!
Christa Haney: We have been with the Studio for at least 4 years. Our kids have earned black belts and succeeded in ways we never thought possible. They inspire our kids when no one else can.
Carrie Hamlin: My kids have been training at The Studio for six years now, primarily in Taekwondo, but also some ninja gym. The benefits to their confidence and self-esteem are immeasurable. The entire staff is so welcoming and supportive, and the classes challenge them just enough to keep them growing and learning without discouraging them. Trying out The Studio was one of the best decisions we've made.
Taylor Rappleye: My 3 boys have been attending the studio for about 3 years now and absolutely love it! The instructors are amazing and always pushing our kids to be the best versions of themselves. My boys are stronger, more confident and respectful, all due to the atmosphere that the studio provides. I highly recommend them to any family.
Joseph Petritsch: My son has been at this school for 5 years now. His experience at The Studio has helped in all aspects of his life. At first he was very timid. The training and discipline has built his confidence and enhanced his skills in other sports. The instructors here are the best and they are so great with kids. Highly recommend sending your kids here if you want them to flourish in life.
helana bobana: My 10 year old son attends Ninja Gym here. He is autistic and needs more attention and patience. Coach Ryan is amazing with him, as well as the rest of the staff that interacts with him. Highly recommend!
Sarah Wall: Absolutely can’t recommend this place enough. We have been taking our kids here for over a year now and they love it. So many different class options for all people of all ages!Master P and all her amazing staff are so dedicated to this place and all the amazing students. The largest benefit to bringing your child here is Master P level as a 8th degree black belt. She is insanely impressive and generous!
Heather Masty: Awesome! Highly recommend!

Professor's Tassia and Kristof are nothing short of amazing, and really make you feel like they know who you are, and you a part of a community. I've been taking Tassia's women classes twice a week for about a year, and it's honestly my favorite part of my week. Not only are all of the women in the gym incredibly supportive, but Tassia is an incredible coach who pushes you, recognizes what you do well/what you need to do to grow, and helps you do that. If you're a woman who wants to do jiu jitsu, I truly can't recommend this place enough.

Ryan Delvalle: Great school with great instructors and most importantly a GREAT culture. My wife and I came in and were immediately put at ease upon meating Kristoff and Tassia. They are so laid back but also consummate professionals at the same time it's a great dynamic and it trickles down to their students. Which is really were this program shines in my opinion. Going into a gym can be intimidating for many reasons but none more so to me than concern for quality of training partners. This place completely abates that, everyone is so friendly and willing to work with anyone regardless of their level or skill. Three words would describe this program to me.FUN, EXCITING, WELCOMING
Brett Holmes: Coach Kristof is awesome. I started studying BJJ just 2 months ago and am hooked. He is a very good instructor: super clear, patient, and always friendly. Being in my fifties, I wasn’t sure I would be able to learn BJJ, but with such a skilled coach, it is doable! The facility is extremely clean too. Turns out the sessions are fantastic cardio exercise also. I highly recommend this school. Give it a try!
Lauren: Professor Tassia and Professor Kristof are amazing! They’ve built this beautiful school to share their knowledge and passion. Highly recommend!
Julie Vanegas: Tassia is not just an amazing person but an amazing athlete. Her and Kristoff are great professors/coaches of jiu jitsu. If you've ever wanted to try out the sport these two people are the ones to try it out with. 😀

Sonia Cuevas: Our daughter started training here 5 weeks ago. We were hoping that it would help her mental focus and that's exactly what is happening, in addition to the physical training. Great for kids to learn to pay attention.Excellent trainers, very clean and organized.
chris eastman: immediately made me feel welcome and continue to cheer me on and help me in my martial arts experience.Kovars in Carmichael is truly a culture of family and togetherness. They have and continue to show a kidness and belief in anyone who is willing or wants to take this journey.
mahya bagheri nezhad: This place is amazing! It's been a year since my son joined the Kovar’s family, and he loves his class. The teachers are wonderful, caring, kind and at the same time disciplined. Not only my son is learning martial arts, he has become more disciplined and his self-confidence has increased. And his anxiety level is much lower than before.Thank you very much Shidoshi Kelso, Shidoshi Evers, and Renshi Cardoso.
Hubert Stokes: Kovars has been wonderful for our kids mental and physical development. The instructors care about our kids and their development. After watching classes for years I also joined in on the fun and am experiencing the physical benefits myself.
Maureen Taylor: Excellent teachers and happy students. Skilled, considerate and caring staff for all the kids. Highly recommend.
Cassie Durant: This is the only sport my daughter has ever expressed interest in and initially I wasn't sure I wanted her to do it. But I have never been so wrong - Kovar's has a "whole child" approach that has made my daughter's life better in every way. The teachers & assistants are awesome, positive, and make her happy to be a part of each and every class. I hope she's a part of Kovar's for years to come.
Justin Avery: My son's been attending class for 2 months now and he loves it. The staff is very good with the kids. They're all funny and make it fun but they're also great at teaching discipline and when to be serious. I'm extremely happy we decided to sit in and watch a class!
Brooke: My daughter joined Kovar’s Carmichael just under a year ago when she was 11 years old. Up until then we had not been able to find an extracurricular activity that kept her interest, and team sports were a real struggle. We started with the 2-week trial and on day one she said “Please sign me up!! Please sign me up!” — and she has absolutely thrived ever since. The instructors make lessons so fun, and have the wonderfully rare ability to meet her at her level and provide encouragement that has helped her push beyond what she ever thought she could do. It’s an awesome thing to see your child so proud of themselves and feel such a sense of belonging.Lastly, the values and respect for oneself and others that are taught here are absolutely wonderful!
Chris Frost: Kovars and it's instructors are top notch. The program teaches martial arts, but more importantly respect and discipline. The instructors are amazing, absolutely fantastic with the kids. All our respect and appreciation.
Miranda Viani: This team is absolutely amazing! They care about my daughter and push her to help her grow. We have moved, but still continue to make the drive as this has been such a good experience for us.
Chris Tatro: I went there from maybe 2016 to 2020. Loved all of my instructors and I learned a lot.
Robert Du Gaue: Best place in town for quality martial arts for adults and children. And now BJJ by a well known industry icon. Check them out! Ask about 2 weeks free.
Carlos Curry: The staff here are very kind & most of all informative. The process in becoming a member was quick, fast & easy. The facility is very large & The students are very pleasant.I'd recommend anyone interested in studying martial arts to enroll @ Kovar Satori Academy. 🥋
christian rivera: I’ve been with Kovars at a different location, but i’ve taken up BJJ recently with their program, it’s fun and has a great learning environment, great place to make friends as well.
Hana Dytrych: Warm friendly welcome by stuff, clean area to work and professional coaches. Great for both adults as well as kids

Tennison Long: Highly recommended karate school - great teachers, lots of class times to choose from, and lots of results and progress are made with the students!
Sanjeet Singh: Our 4 year old has been coming here for a couple months and we think it’s great. Very structured and the instructors are enthusiastic and energetic. Even when our son doesn’t feel like going, he ends up having a lot of fun and is in a way better mood after. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a healthy outlet for your toddlers!
The Santiago Family Home: We can’t say enough wonderful things about Kovar’s Natomas. We have been training there for over 10 years. The life lessons we have learned, the skills we have obtained, the great people we have met and continue to grow with… are just a few of the experiences we love and enjoy. Looking forward to many more years to come.
C W: This location is amazing! The instructors are all incredible with our kids! Not only learning different techniques of martial arts but also life lessons that are important to everyday life. Helping develop our kids into good human beings. Highly recommend them!!
Mesert Gebeyhu: Really nice my children love it
Kesondra Ward: We love the family environment
AJ Michehl: I've been training with this dojo for many years and I can't begin to express what a fantastic place it is! Everyone is super friendly and awesome. It's suitable for all ages and the staff are very accommodating. The instructors are fun and definitely know what they're doing. The front desks are super nice and enthusiastic! Worth every penny!
Hanna Bachylo: I've been apart of Kovar's in Natomas for 2 years and it has been an amazing experience! The instructors are courteous and knowledgeable. The front desks are pretty awesome, kind and helpful too! Would definitely recommend. 20/10!
Sarah Hibel: So fun and such a great learning experience
Greg Levin: that many young students may just want to sit and watch for a few classes to gain comfort. During our time observing we were regularly greeted and by various staff members who were patient and engaging. Once he was ready, near the end of our second class he began a lesson off to the side with one of the instructors which made him comfortable participating. At the next class he was excited and ready to fully join the group. Upon completion of his classes, the pride and accomplishment he feels is palpable and he is determined to continue his training and looks forward to future accomplishments, with Kovars to thank.
Ravendarcluv: I love this dojo. The instructors are amazing and really know how to break it down for beginners!
M'leesa Rogers: My son has been coming here for 3 weeks. He has a hard time focusing for long periods of time and he can be quite emotional on a not so great day but WOW. Everyone at Kovars is SO incredibly patient and kind. We do a lot of activities and I have NEVER seen so many people as a group or individually be so good with children. Even with larger groups, they find a way to individually make every child feel included and they do such a good job at cheering each kid on and making sure they know what to do and how to do it.
Nacito Sanchez: Positive Professionalism

janet kelly: The best of the best martial arts school! They truly care about your child and teaching them to defend themselves! Joel does a fantastic job of being in charge. He’s a great role model! We unexpectedly had to leave the area, but can’t wait to get back and be a part of Kovars again!
Cadu Francis: Fantastic school for the whole family.
dallas helwick: Gigachad
Scott Redford: Friendly instructors, supportive community, and great classes. My kids have gained confidence and skills while feeling welcomed from day one. Highly recommend for anyone looking to get in shape, grow skills and confidence.
Melissa Phomvongsa: I've had the pleasure of attending all the women's self-defense seminars. I expected to feel a bit intimidated, even have a few moments of embarrassment. Thanks to the amazing team, those moments and feelings never saw the light of day. This location is the best place for adults and children to not only learn self-defense but confidence.
katrina redford: Kovards has made a positive impact on my family. It's more than just martial arts; it's about nurturing confidence, discipline, and resilience. They prioritize each individual's growth and development. Discovering Kovards has been a real blessing for us
Ros Enur: I love it here! I've been to all the Women's self defense seminars here, they are a blast! I want to thank Joel for calming my nerves and helping me learn the basics before stepping out on the floor. You rock!
FistWeaver: Kovars is absolutely amazing!!! It offers a great learning experience from instructors who really care for the students not only in regards to martial arts and self defense but also helping build strong core values for the future. Thorough teaching from knowledgeable instructors that genuinely want to see each student improve with a welcoming environment for all ages. Couldn't recommend them enough!
Anna Nava: I would highly recommend anyone who is thinking of signing up to enroll now! The classes were so much fun and beneficial. Joel was amazing to work with, answered all of my questions, and was very informative.
Daniel Quintanilla: This place is AMAZING. Since I was a kid so many friends of mine raved about this place and I was reluctant to go but I’m glad this place is great and welcoming for both young ones and adults!
Jesse Carlisle: Great place and great with my son.
David Bland: Moved to Roseville during 2020 and was worried we’d not find a good martial arts school. Learned about KOVAR’S by searching online and they were doing zoom classes since everything was closed down. Kim was amazing at getting our 3 kids onboarded and when things opened back up they’ve all been going 3-5+ times a week in person ever since. They even convince me to take an evening jiu jitsu class that I’ve enjoyed for a couple years now. Great family oriented martial arts school!
Nick McCowan: . Moon and I went to a few different dojos feeling everything out. Some places had good “this” and bad “that”, or visa versa. The moment Moon and I walked into Kovar’s - we were BOTH comfortable and relaxed. The environment radiates positive energy, team work, accountability and spirit. Every instructor goes above and beyond with each student and the lessons are much more than kicks and punches, Moon is constantly learning morals and values in every class and she takes the lessons back to school with her and uses what she’s learned. Moon is now an advanced red belt, she justed turned 10 and is on her way to earning her black belt. As a father I couldn’t be happier with Kovar’s.
Eric Seyfried: My 8 year loves this place! She looks forward to martial arts every time. It’s good vibes all around. It’s affordable, especially with how much you get to go!
CJ Warriner: Kovar’s on Madison in Fair Oaks has been an extension of our family for the last seven years. When my son was young, he tended to be resistant to try new things and stick with them until he found karate. The Kovar’s formula is unique and magical. The wonderful instructors and staff know how to teach and connect with students of all ages, mixing life lessons with karate techniques and fun. If you or your child needs a positive environment to build confidence, strength, skills, morals, and friendships, you have found the right place. We are so grateful for Kovar’s!
