4worldlovers: ADE is owned & operated by a formerly licensed speech/language therapist with over 25 years of experience working with adults with intellectual developmental disabilities in day programs and care homes. We established our first location in April 2010, and opened a second location in March of 2014, ADE, Too! which we are lucky to have right next door. Having both locations so close, ensures owner/operator daily oversight, which adds to the quality of services.

People who attend ADE get the benefit of meaningful communication practice daily, by a quality team who is trained to assist individuals improve their communication skills.

ADE places a strong emphasis on increasing an individual’s communication effectiveness. Our team trained in using pictures, iPad, Personal communication devices, Picture communication books (PCBs), and American Sign Language. Our goal for each individual is to communicate as effectively as possible and increase ones ability to self-advocate. Additionally, ADE focuses on increasing both receptive and expressive language skills to improve cognition and problem-solving, social communication, and the ability to establish and maintain friendships.

Communication and language skills are continuously promoted during structured activities and naturally occurring opportunities; “teachable moments”.

· Making informed choices- discussion of consequences (both positive & negative) regarding choices.

· Personal awareness and safety other assistance in increasing control over the individuals’ own life/environment.

Individuals are encouraged to express their given preference for individual vocational pursuits. ADE provides pre-vocational training and support to assist individuals in developing job skills and work habits for possible future paid employment. Focus areas include listening skills and following directions in order for an individual to be successful in an integrated work setting.
