The Leonard Nimoy Event Horizon theater will be closed from July 22 through mid-September for important upgrades.
Visitors can explore the universe for free, travel to the farthest reaches of the universe, and immerse themselves in the wonder and meaning of the cosmos through live presentations. They can also look through free public telescopes, observe from their own backyard, and check out the weekly Sky Report.
This observatory offers live shows in the planetarium, live Tesla Coil demonstrations, and public telescope observing every day. It also offers virtual and in-person programs, including public star parties, All Space Considered, and the Sunset Walk-and-Talk, which return each month.
Visitors can get to the observatory by public transportation, which is the easiest way to visit. They can also walk, bike, drive, or take a shared-ride service up to the observatory. There is paid parking near the observatory and free parking downhill.
Visitors can expect to see spectacular views of Los Angeles and the Hollywood Sign from the observatory, which is located on the south slope of Mount Hollywood in Griffith Park.
